English metal legends CARCASS have released their massively anticipated, first collection of new music in 7 years, “Despicable,” today via Nuclear Blast. Along with the new EP, the band has debuted a new visualizer for ‘Slaughtered in Soho,’ which Decibel called “a marvel of heavy groove, uplifting melody and dissonant attack.”

Commenting on the song, founding vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker states:

“Here’s the final track from the offcuts of the new album recording session that we decided to make available as an EP in order to tide people over. David Castillo who recorded & mixed the album was surprised this never made the cut….we, the band, were NOT! Anyhow, grit your teeth and ‘enjoy’!”

The lords of death and grind’s new EP “Despicable” offers fans a taste of the brutality that awaits on the band’s heavily anticipated 7th studio album coming in 2021.

True metal originators, CARCASS have released several classic albums over the years and changed the trajectory of extreme metal with each consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind (“Reek of Putrefaction” & “Symphonies of Sickness”) or creating the template for melodic death metal (“Heartwork”), CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken. After a 10 year hiatus (1996-2006), the band mounted a comeback, resurrecting their blistering death-laden riffs and eventually released their 6th album, “Surgical Steel” (2013) and supported the record over the years with continuous touring, including Download, Hellfest, Deathfest, Decibel’s Metal & Beer Festival, tours with Testament, Slayer, Napalm Death, Obituary and Voivod to name a few.

Now, seven years after their last record the band returns to the extreme metal throne with a new EP, “Despicable,” out in Oct 2020, which serves as a precursor to their next full-length’s impending destruction.

“Despicable” Track Listing:

  1. The Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue
  2. The Long And Winding Bier Road
  3. Under The Scalpel Blade
  4. Slaughtered In Soho

New Zealand’s speed metal overlords STÄLKER are returning with yet another lesson in raw and in-your-face heavy metal, breathing the spirit and danger of the glorious 80s.

Following 2019’s globally acclaimed Powermad EP, the band’s impatiently awaited second full-length album, Black Majik Terror, will be released on October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records.

Today, the band releases a delight for every fan of aggressive 80s metal as well as any horror aficionado out there. The music video for their third single, “Holocene’s End”, is another monument of classic B-Movie extravaganza: drenched in occultism, dirt and a lot of gore. A masterpiece on its own.

Proving that they aren’t afraid to change the pace to set the right mood, “Holocene’s End”‘s intro shows STÄLKER nearing doom metal territory before plunging back into the speed metal we know them for. This eerie introduction immediately invokes an unsettling aura that is only heightened by Daif’s anguished vocal performance and maniacal laughter. As the track’s speed picks back up to match the rest of Black Majik Terror,  “Holocene’s End” offers one of STÄLKER’s most ambitious song structures to date, graced tastefully with an exceptional call and response solo from guitarist Chris and capped off with a classic horror fueled synth outro. “Holocene’s End” is without a doubt one of STÄLKER‘s most unique numbers.

THY ART IS MURDER Unveil Lyric Video For New Single “Killing Season”

Another masterclass in the kind of extremity that’s elevated THY ART IS MURDER to one of Australia’s top-heavy exports, Today, the band unveils the lyric video for their new single, “Killing Season”. The song is rooted  in the band’s sonic origins with its classic bone-crunching death metal paired with a relentless ferocity that takes a wrecking ball to all in its path.

In keeping with the band’s tradition of shining a floodlight on socio-political trauma and history’s atrocities, the lyrics for “Killing Season” are inspired by the whitewashing of colonialism, and the song tackles the brutal reality of systemic racism in the western world head-on. Written on Thanksgiving 2019, “Killing Season” examines the genesis of the national holiday and its lesser-known bloody history that’s far from the sanitized version celebrated annually.

Guitarist Andy Marsh explains: “’Killing Season’ is a crushing old school sounding Thy Art track that we put together towards the end of 2019, to be used somewhere in 2020 for a release or tour promo. We wanted to release it now as a gift to our fans who have supported us throughout this year by continuing to listen to our music, buying merch, or simply sending us messages of support. It means the world to us! ‘Killing Season” touches on the darkness surrounding the origins of Thanksgiving, and while that subject is relevant at this time of year, we want you to think of the atrocities both past and present that deserve acknowledgment.”

DEWOLFF Reveal Brand New Video ‘Yes You Do’

Dutch psychedelic kingpins DeWolff have revealed a brand new video ‘Yes You Do’, featuring Ian Peres (ex-Wolfmother) and singer-songwriter Judy Blank. The song is taken from the band’s upcoming WOLFFPACK album, coming out via Mascot Label Group.

The kaleidoscopic warriors have been hunkered down in the studio over the summer for their WOLFFPACK recording sessions. In their Utrecht bunkers, during the global lockdown, brothers Pablo and Luka van de Poel and Robin Piso have been probing the annals of rocks byways and backstreets, experimenting with hazy soundscapes, fizzing riffs, marauding organs, infectiously free-roaming melodies and all tied in with an undeniably DeWolff sound. Liberators of the funky groove, they’re riding the highways swerving in an out of 70s soul-funk, fuzzed-up psychedelia, swamp-rock and haunting melancholia, all the while under a blanket of an aural assault of desert heat sunshine.

With the modern powers of technology, several guests passed through the proverbial doors of the sessions. For ‘Yes You Do,’ former Wolfmother bassist Ian Peres lays down some low-slung heaviness around the trio’s swirling fusion of soul, psychedelic and funk with Dutch singer-songwriter Judy Blank joining in on the action on vocals for a five-pronged party.

“It was the first song we finished.” The band say. “We wrote it in a Zoom meeting! Pablo had some parts of song lying around, and we put it all together, adding a break and a solo and whatnot here and there.”

Continuing they say, “Pablo and Luka recorded the basics together on tape: this was the third take! Robin recorded his Hammond and epic synth intro and solo at home. Then we sent it to Ian Peres. We met him back in 2013 in Mullumbimby, Australia, where we had one epic jam together. Ian was playing with Wolfmother at the time, and fortunately we kept in touch afterwards: we knew he was THE man to play bass on Yes You Do. His bass playing will totally blow your mind! And if that ain’t enough, we asked the great Miss Judy Blank to sing background vocals.”

Would you like to hear some more new music? Yes, you do? Excellent, of course you do. More to follow on that soon, but for now listen to this delicious 6-minute slice of goodness.

Swedish Melodic Death Metal pioneers DARK TRANQUILLITY are proud to present their final single “The Dark Unbroken” from their up – coming seventh studio album “Moment”, out November 20th via Century Media Records.

The band comments:

“Filmed in the heart of Gothenburg with renowned TV/film director Erik Eger (Thicker Than Water, One Hundred Years Of Evil) “The Dark Unbroken” shows the city as we’ve seen it this year and it reflects our longing to be back on a stage together. Shot in part at the beautiful Stora Teatern that has stood in the center of town since 1859, this serves as a transition to our up – coming streamed live show from the very same stage on the 21st of November. More info on this to follow, until then, enjoy “The Dark Unbroken”!”

“Moment” will be available in various formats and can be pre – ordered HERE

It’s been four years since the (Swedish) Grammy-nominated album, “Atoma,” but the time between was creative, innovative, and adventurous. The stalwarts welcomed two top-tier guitarists—Christopher Amott (ex-Arch Enemy) and Johan Reinholdz (Nonexist)—while writing a stunning cluster of songs that not only push Dark Tranquillity’s boundaries outward but also strongly typify the Swedes’ sonic fingerprint. Recorded at Nacksving Studios and Rogue Music by Martin Brändström and then mixed/mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, “Moment” is a riveting yet challenging journey from start to finish. Join Dark Tranquillity as they unveil their defining moment!
