EVERGREY Duet With JAMES LABRIE, And Announce Tour

James LaBrie (singer of legendary Dream Theater) will appear as special guest on the new EVERGREY album!

One of several high points on “Escape Of The Phoenix”, both lyrically and musically, is “The Beholder” featuring Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie singing a duet with Englund. As a fan of the band, and crediting Dream Theater & LaBrie as playing a key role in his development as a musician, Englund felt the song would benefit from the addition of LaBrie’s performance. It was a sentiment shared by all of Evergrey’s members, and the collaboration came together with a simple e-mail.

Englund: “I just wrote to James and told him about the idea for the song, and that it would be great to have him on it. He really liked the song and agreed to do it.“

The album is available for pre-order here.

On top of that EVERGREY and their booking agency Decibel Touring announced a tour coming up in 2021. Throughout October and November ’21 the band will tour Europe with special guest Witherfall and second support Dust In Mind. 29 dates in 8 countries are on the schedule.

The band states:
“We are really happy to announce a tour of Europe next fall and let’s all hope that the world is in a better place by that time so we get to see all you lovely people again”

MY OWN PRIVATE ALASKA Announce New EP And Share Epic Music Video “Your Shelter”

After 10 years on hiatus, early 2020 seen MY OWN PRIVATE ALASKA return to the scene with a reissue of their pathbreaking debut album, “Amen”. Now,  the “pianocore” collective from Toulouse, France, is highlighting their triumphal comeback with the release of a brand new EP! “Let This Rope Cross All The Lands”, which will be out on March 26, 2021 via AWAL, is filled with the haunting, avantgarde post-rock and apocalypse atmospheres My Own Private Alaska is known for, but will even go way deeper.

Between the aesthetic disproportion and formal minimalism, My Own Private Alaska takes the bias of authenticity. Evoking the ghosts of Chopin and the crescendos of Envy, their music is captivating, dark and joyful at once. Architects of a fragile and imposing universe, these four musicians have marked the spirits. The fascination of this French group unfolds a unique opportunity to dig into a captivating film noir synchronizing your cardiac palpitations to the conscience of a band that defies easy labelling. During their live shows, all band members sit to play. The bass guitar is replaced by a keyboard, that takes care of the bass part, dark textures and drone landscapes. During the band’s impressive career and history, My Own Private Alaska played countless tours all over the world, including support shows for Metallica.

On their upcoming Rarities- EP “Let This Rope Cross All The Lands”, My Own Private Alaska continues to polarize while imposing its enigmatic formula, shrouded in the intensity of melancholy piano chords and cathartic screams – a sound tainted by madness, beauty and despair. “Let This Rope Cross All The Lands” comprises of five studio cuts, while the Vinyl edition will also include three live tracks. One of them, a brand new song entitled “Your Shelter“, has just been exclusively premiered on Revolver Magazine, along with an epic live music video, filmed on the top of the mystical Mont-St-Michel-de-Brasparts in Britain! Watch My Own Private Alaska’s new clip right here:

Says MOPA vocalist Matthieu Miegeville: “We’re so excited to bring some new material to our fans!
It’s been a while and we come back with a new lineup and a positive equilibrium. We are now four musicians. Still sitting. Still no guitars. A piano and a voice, as musical brothers. A synthbass player and a new drummer have appeared.

A huge field of possibilities, a huge feeling of freedom, a huge sensation of being perfectly gathered together. You’ll feel this energy in this new song ‘Your Shelter,’ with a will of proposing something further and coherent at the same time. It’s still My Own Private Alaska and it’s also a new My Own Private Alaska.

The spectrum is wider, our sound is deeper, more modern and more subtle. You’ll discover it in the raritiesEP about to be released next March 2021. It’s a patchwork record with unreleased songs, B-side versions from our times with Ross Robinson in Los Angeles, and also new audio material we’re really proud of, thanks to our new talented audio partners: Jan Kerscher (mix, Germany) and Magnus Lindberg (mastering, Cult of Luna, Sweden).

We now wait like everybody to go back onstage and share some visceral emotions with the audience!”

“Let This Rope Cross All The Lands” is slated for a release on March 26, 2021 and will be available as LP and Digital formats. Pre-orders are up now at THIS LOCATION!

  1. Your Shelter
  2. There Will Be No One

AFTERMATH Release Stirring Lyric Video “There Is Something Wrong”

Chicago-based Thrashers AFTERMATH have released a stirring Lyric Video, which features a reworked, atmospherically enriched version of their 2ⁿᵈ album’s title track “There Is Something Wrong“.

AFTERMATH proclaims about it:
“The use of an animated human throughout the video is a strong symbolic image of what those in power want the new world to look like. No originality, no individuality and no independent thought. They want humanity to disappear and this song and video serve as a wakeup call to all of us.”

More from singer Kyriakos ‘Charlie‘ Tsiolis:
“I grew up always questioning authority. I never understood what gives them the right to tell me what to do. I follow the ‘Golden Rule’. I don’t need someone to tell me what is right or wrong. I am not your child. That feeling was there as a kid and continued to grow over the years. I have no idea why or what caused me to see the world like that. I must have been born this way. Back in the early days of the band all my lyrics were somewhat based on this. I just wasn’t as aware then as I am now. We wrote a song called ‘Chaos’ back in 1986. That song was about questioning everything and everyone including your parents. It was about challenging authority and the stories they force fed you. I didn’t know why I felt something was wrong in the world, but I KNEW IT WASN’T RIGHT. As I got older and read and researched things I figured it out. Listening to ‘Chaos’ all these years later I realized I now had the answers to the questions I had in those lyrics. If you listen to ‘Chaos’ you will hear part of the lyrics in ‘There Is Something Wrong’. Listen to these lyrics and you will hear me answering those lyrics. Wake up world before it’s too late.”

URIAH HEEP Bass Player TREVOR BOLDER’s Legacy Enhanced By Posthumous Solo Album ‘Sail The Rivers’ Out Now

Trevor Bolder was the bass player in Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep, but passed away in 2013.  He left behind a solo album which had been mapped out and his friends and family have helped complete it as a labour of love in his memory.

The album features guest appearances by Uriah Heep bandmates Mick Box and Lee Kerslake (who passed away recently) and Wishbone Ash bandmate Laurie Wisefield along with Trevor’s friends.

The artwork on the album is by Ioannis who created the artwork for the last Uriah Heep albums Trevor played on.

Trevor’s widow Shelly Bolder shared these personal comments about the album: “Trevor would have been so proud. It was his dream to produce a solo album which he spent endless hours working so very hard on. Sadly, he did not get to complete this dream. With the magic of friends and family we can all enjoy his beautiful music which can now live on forever. If Trevor were with us, I believe he would have dedicated this to Lee Kerslake who brought so much fun into all our lives.”

The lead vocals on the album are shared between Trevor Bolder and Derk Gallagher who added: “When I heard how far Trevor had got with the album, I knew it had to be finished. His vision for the songs was there, so much was laid out, it just needed his friends and family to help complete it. Trev was with us in every recording session in spirit and this album is part of his legacy.”

The album contains previously unheard titles and Trevor’s own interpretations of tracks he’d given to Uriah Heep to record.

The album has been released on Bolder Records (via Cherry Red) which was named after Trevor’s father’s record shop, in yet another example the album being a family and friends project.  The album is available on CD for Christmas 2020 ahead of its release on streaming platforms in early 2021.

VEONITY Release ‘Where Our Memories Used To Grow’ Video

Swedish power metallers VEONITY have released a video for the song ‘Where Our Memories Used To Grow’, taken from their new album ‘Sorrows’, out on Scarlet Records.

This is how the band commented the song, which features the lead singer from Dragonland, Jonas Heidgert: “When someone goes to her final rest, a piece of your heart is taken away. Even though you know her demise to be true, the first reaction is to hope that when you wake up tomorrow, everything will be as it once was. This song describes this state of false hope, or this feeling that lingers inside you and tells you that when the stars align she will be returned to you again.”

‘Sorrows’ was recorded and mixed by Ronny Milianowicz (Shadowquest, ex-Dionysus)  at Studio Seven and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Recording (Powerwolf, Dragonforce). The cover art design was made by Thomas Holmstrand, whom the band has worked with on the previous two albums.
