Italian orchestral death metal masters FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE have released a new single titled  “No,” produced by Jacob Hansen (EPICA, VOLBEAT), and an accompanying music video directed by Marina L. McLean (Sanda Movies). The standalone single’s cover was created by Travis Smith (OPETH, KATATONIA) who also provided the art for the band’s recent acoustic rendition of “The Day We’ll Be Gone.”

Commenting on the single, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE frontman Francesco Paoli states:
“We live in a world where people are searching for easy answers to complex questions. Self-styled gurus, fake news and miracle pills show up on screen as the silver bullet that may cast out all your fears and troubles. If you need shortcuts to dominate the intricate reality we live in, be aware that the outcome might not be what you expect. Will you find a way to save this world on Google? No. Will things change if we don’t act? No. Will self-delusions lead us somewhere? No. Can music, and art in general, help us cope with this chaos? Absolutely yes.”

Francesco Paoli adds:
“This release marks another milestone for our line-up, featuring Veronica, Fabio and Eugene as official band members.”

KORPIKLAANI Release Single & Music Video “Sanaton maa”

Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI have released another single from their forthcoming album “Jylhä” (out February 5th, 2021 on NUCLEAR BLAST). The melodic and undeniably catchy song “Sanaton maa” is again accompanied by a darkly atmospheric & folklore-laden music video featuring actor Yrjänä Ermala in a lead role.

Listen to “Sanaton maa” on the streaming service of your choice: http://nblast.de/Korpiklaani-Jylha

Accordion player Sami Perttula comments: ““Sanaton maa” is meant to be a throwback to the 80’s with a folky twist: I wanted to write a classic sounding mid-tempo hair metal song with a killer chorus that includes all the elements I like to hear in a good song. While listening to this I can travel back in time on the back seat of an old Honda Accord that was cosmetically fixed with way too much putty and barely worked….on the other hand that didn’t matter because it was also tuned with woofers more expensive than the car. Happy ending!”

Singer “Jonne Järvelä” chimes in: “All I needed to do after that was add fuzzy dice to it!”

Video director Markku Kirves adds: ““Sanaton maa” is the third KORPIKLAANI video with the same main character and this time I wanted to tell something about his profession. In this video we see a blacksmith with his young apprentice, to whom he is now passing his knowledge. On the way to the smith, the boy sees something stunning under the water. As a warning, man decides to tell him an old legend about what happened at the same spot a long time ago. But does our apprentice really listen…?”

The story behind “Sanaton maa”: “Folklore tells a story of a young man named Matti plowing a field along a river. When finished, he took the horse to the pen walking past the bathing spot on the river. The men on the other side of the river were making hay and at the same time heard a voice from the water saying “Time has passed but no man has come”. Matti, having not heard the voice, decided to go swimming. Men on the other side told him he shouldn’t because they had heard such a voice. They said a man from the village had drowned in that place a long time ago. Matti replied that he was not going to swim after all, but was at least going to wash his hands and face. He leaned towards the water, had a heart attack and sank into the water. The legend is known at least in Kaukola and Valkeala.”

EPICA Release Video For Acoustic Version Of Single ‘Abyss Of Time’

Dutch symphonic metal giants EPICA recently announced the release of their new album “Omega”, out on February 26th 2021 via Nuclear Blast. “Omega” is the band’s first studio album in five years. Last month, EPICA also revealed the first single and video clip from the album, titled ‘Abyss Of Time’, which was viewed on YouTube over a million times within its first week. Today, the band reveal a video for an acoustic version of that single.

Keyboarder Coen Janssen comments: “For the Omega release we rewrote 4 songs into acoustic versions. This is our way of relaxing after a period of working hard and intense on heavy music. Being able to wind down and see if the songs still ‘work’ without all the bombast feels like coming home. It also enables us to explore other musical styles than metal and challenges us to be creative in a different way than we are used to. Enjoy our first single “Abyss of Time” as if it was played in an Irish Pub while enjoying a nice pint with all your friends!!”
