CULT OF LUNA Reveal Details For New EP ‘The Raging River’

Featuring a guest appearance by Mark Lanegan; announces creation of their own record label, Red Creek – now distributed by Metal Blade Records in North America and Season of Mist in Europe.

On February 5th, Cult of Luna will release a new EP, entitled The Raging River, via Red Creek (red-crk.com) – the band’s newly created record label, which will be physically distributed by Metal Blade Records (in North America) and Season of Mist (in Europe). Pre-order The Raging River now at: metalblade.com/cultofluna (North American ltd edition pre-order; vinyl & CD) and red-crk.com (limited editions, band merch & more).

Cult of Luna comments: “After more than 20 years of touring, releasing albums and experiencing different kinds of deals and aspects of the music industry, we believed that it was the right time for us to seek more freedom and to reduce the distance between us and our audience.
So, in 2020, Red Creek was born. It has been created as a safe home for our art, but we wanted to do more and offer our experience, expertise and network to the artists we love and believe in. Therefore, we gathered talents and partners around us to create a crafted solution to our needs that is adaptable also to the needs of other artists.
Red Creek will be our home; if you’ve been with us for 20 years or 2 days, this will be your home too.
We’re also pleased to team up with great companies such as Metal Blade for the distribution in North America and Season of Mist for the distribution in Europe.”

Red Creek’s debut release, The Raging River, is a seamless continuation of the writing process and the creative mindset that has guided Cult of Luna for the last couple of years. “‘The Raging River‘ feels more like a bridge. A midpoint that needs to be crossed so we can finish what we started with 2019’s ‘A Dawn to Fear,'” the band adds. “It’s been an interesting, as well as an introspective, way of working, having our instinct leading the way and then having to figure out where it takes us. But not only has it been a linear journey; some aspects of it are also clearly circular. For example, we have been a fan of Mark Lanegan for many years. So in 2005, when we wrote the song ‘And With Her Came the Birds’, we had his voice in mind, and the working title was ‘The Lanegan Song’. But we were not many years over 20, and our lack of self-confidence prevented us from even daring to ask. It took fifteen years for us to get the guts to ask him. Hearing his voice on ‘Inside Of A Dream’ is nothing more than feeling that we’re inside of a dream.”

The Raging River track-listing
Side A
-Three Bridges (8:45)
-What I leave Behind (5:58)
-Inside of A Dream (3:20) – featuring Mark Lanegan

Side B
-I Remember (8:09)

DEAD GIRLS CORP Release Official Music Video For Cover Of Marilyn Manson’s “Great Big White World”

Hollywood, CA based Industrial band DEAD GIRLS CORP. has released the official music video for their cover of the 1998 Marilyn Manson single, “Great Big White World,” via Monsterman Records, on Halloween.

“As Covid-19 cripples the world and continues mass shutdowns everywhere, and with the current amount of extreme civil unrest in the USA, Dead Girls Corp. took aim at recording the song ‘Great Big White World’ by Marilyn Manson whom Toddy Deadboy (vocals) worked for for 5 years as his personal assistant . We feel the song and video strongly captures this current period in time. Director/DP Stephen Readmond along with editor Alexis Johnston did a great job capturing this mood.”

In Hollywood, Ca, a dark alleyway forbodes, connecting Studio 56 and the Record Plant. Music legends of today and yesterday from Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and Mel Torme holed themselves into these studios, all of them making records in the same one hundred yard radius. And, like many stories of legend, the lost replaced the heroes, the junkies replaced the giants, and Satan replaced Sinatra. In the middle, another entryway leads to DeadZone Sound Design. Home of Dead Girls Corp. for the past 10 years. Imagine Depeche Mode with a beat box through a distortion pedal , playing ultra pop at a Satanic disco. Dave Teague burns a hypnotic guitar straight into the psyche. Bruce Miyaki churns the vulgarity within the soul on his bass. Then Mel Mcfail hammers the earth like a sledge , forcing trauma to the body. And all of this abrasion is honed and torqued by the pop-evil song crafting of Toddy T..With the old millennium come and gone, the real Apocalyptic party is ready to begin….

EYES Release Third And Final ‘Angry Music Sessions’ Live Video

Twisted Copenhagen hardcore mongers EYES released their debut album ‘Underperformer’ this past September and scorching eyes and ears with their unique fusion of punk and metallic hardcore, leaving no confronted soul unstirred, not at least through their fantastically entertaining music videos. As every other band on planet earth, they have not been able to tour due to the ongoing pandemic, but now there’s some action available for the hungry hardcore hordes out there.

Together with Vincent B. G. Kosmol, EYES has shot three ‘Underperformer’ songs live in their rehearsal space in Copenhagen, Denmark which happens to share space with Angry Music Studios run by producer Tobias Munk Tønder, producer of the band’s output so far, including the new sessions. Mathcore Index is hosting and premiered the three session clips, the first one was “Voiceswhispersecretsandspeakonlytruths”, then came ‘Swim’, and now it’s time for ‘Off’. Lead singer ‘Victor Kaas’ says of the session:

“We were hesitant to do a live session – everyone and their mother does one these days (for obvious reasons). In the end we decided to do one, since it’s the only way we can showcase our live sound outside of Denmark at the moment. We hope to tour as soon as possible, when it’s deemed safe again, but for now, we hope you’ll enjoy this 3-parter as a substitute.”

The three clips allows you to experience the live intensity of EYES, if not first hand, then through the screen, where one senses the spit, the sweat and all the other filthy particles, we’re not supposed to near. But this does not stand alone, as the band has actual, though pandemic regulated Danish shows coming up in November. In addition, the band has just been confirmed for Denmark’s big metal festival Copenhell in June and also Prime Fest the same month and city.

Watch the third and final ‘Angry Music Sessions’ live video ‘Off’ with EYES here:

EYES is made up by five young veterans from the Danish metal and hardcore scene, and ‘Underperformer’ reflects a combo, that does not worry one bit about what fans, scene or people in general might think. One senses an artistic kinship with bands such as Daughters, Pissed Jeans and Converge – all bands who started out with a particular sound and have changed and developed their musical vision significantly; something EYES aims for as well – and succeeds in.

‘Underperformer’ and its ten songs showcases a unique talent for injecting new life into hardcore with a disregardful (mis)use of the genres many strains and traits through a focused, original songwriting. In its essence, ‘Underperformer’ is a narrative about becoming an adult and having a hard time adjusting to the role it implies. About feeling discontent with one self and where one is in life; Feeling like you’re always busy and have your hands full, but never actually accomplishing anything – feeling like an ‘Underperformer’.

‘Underperformer’ was produced by Tobias Munk Tønder (Église, Drukner), mastered by Jacob Bredahl (Lifesick, I Am Bones) – who also contributes guest vocals on the record – and Jon Gotlev/No Heroes has created the notable artwork. The album was released September 25th 2020 on vinyl (400 black and 100 white copies), tape (100 copies) and digital formats, physical versions are available to purchase via Indisciplinarian HERE

Young souls live fast and without any regrets! Norwegian punks LÜT have teamed up with Metal Shock Finland, to premiere, for Finnish territory, their their newest punk rock hymn “Ingenting Å Angre På”!

Watch the official music video here:

“Ingenting Å Angre På” means “nothing to regret” and catches up with the bands omnipresent PMA punk rock sound. The song’s chorus delivers energetic melodic-hardcore vibes and becomes an instant earworm. Especially the guitar melodies create playful joy and the once again overwhelming power of LÜT feels like a shot of pure energy. “Ingenting Å Angre På” is a true punk rock anthem, about not giving a fuck, as the band comments:

“When closing our eyes we often re-watch the embarrassing incidents of our life. This is true if you aren’t a member of LÜT of course. After a summer of touring and a lot of crazy shit happening (not suitable to be written down), we decided to stop giving a fuck and wrote “Ingenting Å Angre På” (Nothing to regret). We try to live our lives accordingly, which can be hard sometimes. At least the mentality gave us a really cool song. Enjoy!”

“Ingenting Å Angre På” is the seventh single off their upcoming record ”Mersmak”, to be released in January 2021! Pre-order the album here: https://orcd.co/mersmaklut
