The Magus, the Luciferian project helmed by Necromantia co-founder and ex-Rotting Christ musician The Magus, unveiled further details about the second album, “Daemonosophia”.

The follow-up to “ΒΥΣΣΟΔΟΜΩΝΤΑΣ” is set to be released on 20 February 2026 via The Circle Music and is now available to pre-order in CD and vinyl formats, along with a limited luxurious box set and merch bundles.

Pre-order here.

The new album promises a more aggressive and dynamic sound compared to the previous album,  “ΒΥΣΣΟΔΟΜΩΝΤΑΣ”, while keeping the devouring dark atmosphere the project’s music is known for. The album’s sound has some unexpected and diabolically diverse moments that will make listeners feel uneasy.

According to The Magus, “The new album from THE MAGUS entitled “Daemonosophia” is a journey to Demonhood. The Truth lies Below not Above. The Six are Three. The Unholy Trinity. The Three are One. The Absolute. The Infernal pact.

“Musically, it is more edgy and vengeful. More aggressive and dynamic. Still theatrical and horrifying in nature, hellish and complex in performance. And as always there are these diabolically diverse moments that will surprise and will make you feel unease…but Lucifer has many names and many faces. In some parts, collaboration with top-level musicians and vocalists was deemed necessary to achieve maximum impact.”

“Daemonospohia” is pulsating Darkness in all its beauty and all its horror. A beacon of Luciferian Black Metal for Extraordinary People.

“In a few weeks, the first single and video will be unleashed!
”

For the album cover art, The Magus collaborated with Mexican artist Nestor Avalos, known for his work with numerous bands, including Exodus, Deicide and Rotting Christ. The artwork is an Infernal Triptych that portrays six infernal entities: Lucifer/Samael, Leviathan/Tiamat, and Belial/Satan. Nestor created a majestic painting of infernal wisdom and occult meanings, giving prominence to the Luciferian tradition and the music of the album.

“Daemonospohia” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Pentagram Studio by George Emmanuel, with the exception of drums and choirs which were recorded at Ignite Studio. The album was produced by The Magus and George Emmanuel.

Tracklist:
0. Pater Noster
1. Pseudoprophetae
2. Daemonosophia
3. The six in three is all One
4. The Era of Lucifer Rising
5. Magia Obscura
6. Amelia
7. The Chapel of Iniquities
8. The Pact
9. La Llorona Negra

The Magus was formed in 2022, following the dissolution of the legendary Greek black metal band Necromantia, which The Magus co-founded. He decided to end Necromantia after the death of his bandmate Baron Blood in 2019, releasing a final album, “To the Depths We Descend”, in 2021 as a tribute. For this new project, The Magus brought in long-time collaborators El on guitars and Maelstrom on drums.

For the past decade, syk have been relentless in their pursuit of innovation. The Italian band’s latest album doesn’t just push the envelope of progressive, groove-laden death metal. eartHFlesh tears it apart.

“Complex, relentless, and uncompromising — the sonic universe of Italian band Syk seems to know no labels or boundaries”, writes Metal Hammer.

Today, the band are releasing a new live video from their stunning debut at this year’s Hellfest. Summoning a dissonant storm of groove-inflected death metal, “For To Themselves I Left Them” left the crowd stunned with the affirmation that syk are one of the most forward-thinking acts in extreme metal.

eartHFlesh is now available on Season of Mist. Order & Stream: https://orcd.co/sykearthfleshpresave

“For To Themselves I Left Them” finds syk searching for spirit amidst the ruins of eartHFlesh. Reunited onstage with former vocalist Dalili Kayros, frontman Stefano Ferrian and his band of death-dealing merchants bend technical dissonance and blackened atmosphere into spiritual release.

Tracklist:

  1. I am the beast (6:02)
  2. Where I Am Going There Is No Light (5:54)
  3. I’ll Haunt You In Your Dreams (6:08)
  4. eartHFlesh (5:42)
  5. The Sermon (5:06)
  6. the Cross (3:50)
  7. For To Themselves I Left Them (4:20)
  8. The Passing (8:14)
    Total runtime: 45:17

SYK is a metal band that came into existence in 2013 when Stefano Ferrian and Federico De Bernardi di Valserra decided to embark on a new musical venture following the disbandment of their previous project, .psychofagist. They were soon joined by the immensely talented vocalist Dalila Kayros, whose vocal skills left a deep impression on the band during live performances.

In May 2014, syk released their debut album titled Atoma through L’Inphantile Collective. The album caught the attention of Philip H Anselmo from Housecore Records, who not only expressed his appreciation for the band’s work but also offered them a deal for their second album. This second album, titled I-Optikon, was released on December 2, 2016, and was produced by Philip H Anselmo himself. The album was notable for its technical compositions that offered a unique and unparalleled listening experience, as Metal Trenches aptly described it.

Following the release of their second album, the band welcomed their long-time friend Marcello Cravini as a permanent member, taking on the role of the second guitarist. syk subsequently embarked on extensive tours across Europe in 2017 and 2018 and had the honour of being the official support act for GODFLESH during their Italian/Slovenian run in May 2018. Additionally, they also participated in the prestigious Roadburn Festival in the same year, further cementing their reputation as a promising metal act.

In 2019, Federico made the difficult decision to leave the band due to personal reasons, and shortly after, the global pandemic hit, disrupting the band’s search for a new drummer. However, towards the end of 2020, Mauro Maraldo joined syk as their new drummer, and with their lineup complete, they wasted no time in entering the studio to record their third album. This album, titled Pyramiden, was released on March 11th, 2022, through Housecore Records/Nuclear Blast. The album’s distinct and powerful character earned syk high praise, with MetalheadCommunity recognizing them as one of the most promising metal acts of the time.

Pyramiden received further acclaim when it was included in the ProgSpace Awards 2022 under the category of ‘Album of the Year 2022/Extreme Prog Category’, alongside esteemed acts like Fallujah, Allegaeon, Cult of Luna, and Conjurer. Unfortunately, soon after the album’s release, both Mauro and Dalila had to depart from the band due to personal reasons.

However, syk, known for their sonic evolution, decided to press on. Founding members Stefano and Marcello continued working on their fourth album while actively searching for new members. Alan La Roca joined the band as the bass player, solidifying the lineup, but the search for a drummer remained a challenge. It wasn’t until Federico Leone answered their call that the band found their new drummer. With the lineup in place consisting of Stefano Ferrian as the new frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter, Marcello Cravini on guitars, Alan La Roca on bass, and Federico Leone on drums, syk took on a new form.

In early 2023, syk caught the attention of Season Of Mist, who signed them for the release of their fourth album, eartHFlesh. This album not only marks the band’s latest offering but also signifies their first decade as a band. With a reinvigorated sound and an intensified sonic progression, syk continues to captivate listeners and solidify their place in the metal scene.

THE 69 EYES’ Classic Track ‘Lost Boys’ Gets Updated 20th Anniversary Version, Feat. Steve Stevens on Lead Guitar

It is twenty years since, inspired by director Joel Schumacher epochal vampire movie Lost Boys, THE 69 EYES recorded their homage to the 1987 classic.

”The movie came out in the best 80’s hard rock and glam times,” says The 69 Eyes singer Jyrki 69, “and that’s what we wanted to capture –  like dreaming what would have happened if Billy Idol, Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe had come together to make music for it.”

Clearly it was a potent image.  Across the decades that followed, “Lost Boys”has become the band’s undisputed anthem, topping 20 million streams. As Jyrki continues, “It is the main song The 69 Eyes is known for around the world. We always end our show with it. It is impossible to play anymore after that.”

And it was impossible to allow the song’s birthday to pass by unmarked.

Or was it?  At first, admits Jyrki, “We really did think that there is no reason to re-record the song.”  Unless they could add something very, very special to the brew.

“The only way we would do it was if Steve Stevens was playing guitar on it.” Long time sideman, collaborator and unique foil for Billy Idol, Stevens epitomizes the image of the 80s rock guitarist, both visually and musically – it was Stevens’s devastating licks that underpinned such Idol classics as “White Wedding” and “Rebel Yell,” while he was already long-established as a key element in another deathless 80s movie, the theme to Top Gun.”

No wonder, then, that Jyrki describes him as, “The mythical rock’n’roll lead guitarist that you saw on the coolest MTV music videos, continuing the same dark and glamorous style like Link Wray and Johnny Thunders but in the video age. He is a legend.”

“So if we were going to celebrate the song’s 20th anniversary and re-record it, we’d also have to make our original fantasy come true by having Steve on lead guitar.  And  It’s still feels unreal and dreamy that Cleopatra Records were able to make it happen.”

Produced by Jyrki, and mixed by Cameron Webb – best known from his decade-long production of Motörhead, “Lost Boys (20th Anniversary Version)” is released today on all platforms. Also available now is an exclusive 69 Eyes video interview, introduced by label head Brian Perera and featuring Webb and the band recalling both the original single (and its still beloved video) and discussing its new incarnation.

“We wanted it to be a Halloween surprise for our fans,” says Jyrki. And hopefully, too, “Maybe there’s still rock fans out there who do not know the song… maybe we can reach their Halloween parties as well?”

It will certainly be heard at the band’s own spooky-time festivities.  “We’re currently on the road with Disneyland After Dark in Europe, and we’ll be playing a special Halloween show on the cruise ship as well.”

Lost Boys at sea. Can the season get any better?

WOLVERINE Return with First Album “Anomalies” in 10 Years, First Single ‘A Perfect Alignment’ Out Now

Swedish prog-metallers Wolverine are celebrating a glorious return with their first studio album in a decade. Anomalies will be released on 6 February via Music Theories Recordings. Listen to the atmospheric and cinematic first single, A Perfect Alignment.

It’s been a decade since the Söderhamn quintet last released a full album, 2016’s Machina Viva, and four years since their last EP, 2021’s A Darkened Sun, raised hopes that they were back with a vengeance.

Today, singer Stefan Zell is brimming with enthusiasm, fired up by the knowledge that his band – the Machina Viva line-up of Jonas Jonsson (guitar), Thomas Jansson (bass), Marcus Losbjer (drums), and Per Henriksson (keyboards) are to release new music and very soon, a bold new album.

The first song that will see the light of day is ‘A Perfect Alignment.’ “This is actually the first part of a trilogy of songs on the album,” explains Stefan. “The second part being ‘Circuits’ and the third being the album’s opening track ‘A sudden demise’.” Marcus continues, “The initial seed to this song originates maybe about 20 years back, written for a planned concept album that never saw the light of day. It contains several parts based around 5/4, which align together in the end.”

“I think that, in a way, something that runs through the album is getting older,” Zell contemplates. “I didn’t know where I was going. What should I do that will bear meaning in the future? Feeling lost. That is a theme in a way that runs through several songs. I’m happy to say that I’m in a better place today, eight years later.”

“It’s repeating the pattern,” he nods. “But also getting older, going past questions that you might not ask when you’re young. It’s the feeling of not reaching your potential, I think, that describes that situation as well.”

In stark contrast, the upliftingly bright melodies of ‘Nightfall’ represent one of the most immediate and even catchiest songs that Wolverine has ever recorded. Yet the immediate feel of the music is offset by some unremittingly bleak lyrics. “That one is, lyrically, from my really darkest period, where I had death anxiety every night when I went to bed,” Zell admits. “It felt like someone stomping on my chest. Just wanting the night to be over. I was not in a good place in life. But I found the contrast between the music and the lyrics quite tempting in a way. You can almost dance to it once it gets going.”

The dramatic ‘My Solitary Foe’ deals with the relentless, cyclical patterns one goes through dealing with life’s struggles, as Zell sings, “Every stone I turned, another lesson learned, Lost along the way or waiting up ahead for those astray? Well, I can’t say…”

Throughout their career, Wolverine have always carried a similar dark emotional heft to their fellow countrymen Katatonia, driven by a sonic wall of sound. Lyrically too, Zell’s lyrics pack a powerful emotional punch, and on Anomalies he’s at his peak, drawing on those years of exasperation.

Wolverine’s trials and tribulations to get to Anomalies have given Zell plenty of subject matter, as has his own personal life. “I look at all our songs as small snippets of a diary. If you look back through the catalogue, it’s my life as a writer. It’s so amazing to have these snippets of time documented in this way. But I really feel that there are a lot more questions asked about life, ageing, and values. It’s nothing we even thought about when we were in our 20s. It evolves.”

So too has Wolverine evolved. From their earliest days toying with death metal sounds, before adding in a more progressive influence on 1999’s Fervent Dream EP, before setting themselves up as purveyors of the finest in melancholic prog metal, a flag they continue to carry aloft to this day.

  1. A Sudden Demise

  3. Circuits
  4. Nightfall

SKULL & CROSSBONES Launch New Single & Video ‘Time Thief’

German heavy/power metal force SKULL & CROSSBONES unveil their brand-new single and video “Time Thief”—a razor-edged anthem about people who steal our time with their behavior. The track expands the album’s core theme of mortality and meaning, arriving ahead of the band’s upcoming full-length “Time”, due November 14, 2025 via Massacre Records.

Driven by militant riffs, towering vocals and a chorus built to roar back from the crowd, “Time Thief” captures the frustration of hours siphoned away by manipulators, energy-vampires and everyday obstructionists—and the cathartic resolve to reclaim what’s left. It stands alongside the record’s deeper reflections on decline (“Labyrinth Of Time”) and renewal (“Eye Of Wisdom”), forming a narrative that cuts across the past, present and future.

STREAM/PURCHASE THE SONG HERE: https://save-it.cc/massacre/time-thief

“Time” marks a strong step forward in both songwriting and production, delivering powerful, melodic, and timeless heavy metal that blends energy with emotion.

The follow-up to their debut was produced by SKULL & CROSSBONES together with Marc Ayerle, who also handled mixing and mastering at KlangMAnufaktur. Cover artwork was created by Michael Vetter, while additional keyboard arrangements on “Thunderstorm” and “The Ocean’s Call” were provided by vocalist Tobias Hübner.

The record is a journey through powerful riffs, anthemic choruses, and lyrical depth – ranging from the mystical (“Eye Of Wisdom”) and the dramatic (“The Price”) to the thunderous and uplifting (“Thunderstorm”) and even playful, with the pirate-inspired closer (“The Ocean’s Call”).

With “Time”, SKULL & CROSSBONES deliver their most mature and focused work to date. Lyrically, the album reflects on the fleeting nature of existence – from stolen hours (“Time Thief”) and human decay (“Labyrinth Of Time”) to rebirth and transcendence (“Eye Of Wisdom”). Musically, the band balance classic heavy/power metal with a modern edge, crafting songs which are as anthemic as they are thought-provoking.

This is not just an album – it’s a journey through past, present, and future, bound together by the unrelenting power of heavy metal.
