EF Announce 20 Year Anniversary Re-Release of “Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death!” Debut LP + Stream New Single/Video ‘Noll’

Long regarded as singular architects within European post-rock, EF have built a catalogue defined by dynamic patience, melodic clarity, and widescreen emotional reach. Across two decades of touring, the Gothenburg ensemble have carried that language to clubs and theatres at home and abroad, earning a reputation for meticulous, high-impact live shows and a body of work that has steadily gathered critical regard and a devoted international following.

In 2025, EF and Pelagic Records mark a double milestone: the 20th anniversary of Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death! and Pelagic Records‘ 300th release.

On 28th November 2025, EF will release a re-recorded version of their now classic debut album.

Pre-order: https://orcd.co/ef-noll

The band have marked the occasion with a brand new bonus track, ‘Noll’, which you can watch here:

Reimagined and with expanded production, this edition is a considered re-engagement with the material that first crystallised EF’s voice. The band returns to these songs with the benefit of twenty years’ craft, presenting new arrangements that stretch time and deepen narrative, while retaining the quiet-to-catharsis arc that has always set their music apart.

“Since it’s our precious firstborn we wanted to give it the love it surely deserves. We felt we didn’t want to celebrate its big 20th birthday by just remastering it and we surely didn’t want to make the songs too modern and unrecognisable for the old fans. We wanted to give it a tighter, more dramatic and bombastic make over… a gentle touch of today’s EF.” (Niklas Åström)

1. Ett
2. Misinfom the Uninformed
3. Noll
4. Hello Scotland
5. Final Touch/Hidden Agenda

7. Tomorrow My Friend…
8. …We’ll Meet in the End

Originally released in 2006, Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death! introduced EF’s signature blend of cinematic guitars, patient dynamics and aching melody. For this new edition, along with an incredible cover illustration by Phillip Janta and brand-new bonus track ‘Noll’, the band returned to the material with fresh ears and clear intentions: to open more space in the arrangements and to enrich the melodic lines with orchestral colour.

“When we recorded the originals back in 2005 we didn’t know much about arrangements nor did we know many musicians playing strings or brass. We also didn’t have enough money to rent a studio for more than three days, which forced us to rock and record all the songs live with minimum retakes. The add-ons were later done in Daniel’s (Juline) apartment with a shitty microphone and you can hear someone doing dishes in the kitchen and the trams running by outside.

“This time we had money saved up and time to hang out in the studio to play around, arrange and track properly, but also to bring in professional musicians to fulfil our musical vision. It was intended 20 years ago but we couldn’t get it done.” (Niklas Åström)

The compositions now open further, allowing phrases to breathe and themes to unfold with greater intention. Brass and strings thread through the arrangements to widen the harmonic field and intensify the music’s gravitational pull. Guitar architectures are voiced with more restraint and more consequence; percussion serving the songs whilst retaining the backbone. Dynamics have been sculpted with greater nuance; crescendos are permitted to unwind more slowly, and motifs are developed with discipline, small gestures accruing significance until the inevitable release, the swell of post-rock roars, in which we find EF’s lyricism within a larger, orchestral-adjacent palette.

For Pelagic Records, release number 300 is both a celebration and statement of intent: an affirmation that the label’s long-game approach to curation continues to reward artists who value evolution. For EF, this release closes a circle while drawing a new one around where they are now – seasoned, sonically expansive, and unafraid to reinvent and elevate.

Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death! (20th-Anniversary Edition) is a document of growth rendered with care: more instrumentation, more time, more consequence. The album is an act of stewardship – both a homage and a forward-looking manifesto for EF and for discerning listeners everywhere.

Having weathered two decades, The Old Dead Tree are still at the roots of dark progressive metal. Last year, the French band returned to much fanfare with Second Thoughts, their first full-length since 2007. Now, they’re back with a new EP that was recorded live at legendary Abbey Road Studios.

Today, The Old Dead Tree are releasing the EP’s first advanced single. “Feel Alive Again” is a new song that’s cut for the stage, leaning into stadium rock while staying grounded in the band’s dark progressive foundation.

Watch The Old Dead Tree perform “Feel Alive Again” live at Abbey Road on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

London Sessions comes out November 28, 2025 on all digital platforms.

“Feel Alive Again” begins with a confession, only to ascend into the stadium spotlight with a soaring crescendo. At once airy and direct, the song shows the vulnerability and strength of The Old Dead Tree.

Along with “Feel Alive Again”, London Sessions includes another new song, plus new versions of two songs from the band’s second album The Perpetual Motion.

The video for “Feel Alive Again” was directed, shot and edited by The Old Dead Tree’s long-time collaborator Julien Metternich. Metternich has been at the helm of many of the band’s videos and photo shoots.

Second Thoughts is available now on Season of Mist.

  1. Feel Alive Again (03:43) [WATCH]
  2. Time Has Come (03:49)
  3. By The Way (London Sessions 2025) (04:29)
  4. What Else Could We’ve Said (London Sessions 2025) (05:39)
    Full runtime: 18:42

Spearheading the French dark prog metal scene for more than 20 years, THE OLD DEAD TREE have created a unique universe combining extreme music and dark rock-pop, sublimated by Manuel Munoz’s exceptional and versatile vocals.

Just as the band had released their first EP, The Blossom, in 1999, drummer Frédéric Guillemot took his own life. The shock profoundly scarred the other three members of the band, and formed the basis of the concept for their debut album, The Nameless Disease.

Following its release in 2003 on Season Of Mist, the immediate success of this seminal album led the band to hit the road with PARADISE LOST, OPETH and KATATONIA, introducing their music to metalheads across Europe.

Two critically acclaimed albums followed, The Perpetual Motion (2005) and The Water Fields (2007), making THE OLD DEAD TREE a pillar of the French metal scene and a reference point for progressive metal in Europe.

By the end of 2008, just as work had begun on a fourth album, the wear and tear of the necessary personal investment proved too much for some of the band to bear. THE OLD DEAD TREE officially split up in 2009.

Over the following years, the musicians moved apart geographically and became involved in other musical projects (PENUMBRA, ARKAN, OMMATIDIA, LUX INCERTA…), but their solid friendship never wavered.

In 2013, THE OLD DEAD TREE briefly reunited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album The Nameless Disease with a mini European tour that included stops at HELLFEST and MOTOCULTOR.

A few years later, following the Covid 19 crisis and the general questioning that it provoked, the members of the band started considering to reunite for good. After several months of doubt and discussion, the decision is finally taken to write and record a new song.

In the spring of 2023, the popularity of the new single Terrified and the band’s high-profile appearance at HELLFEST paved the way for THE OLD DEAD TREE‘s long-lasting comeback.

By the beginning of 2024, while composing its first album in 17 years, THE OLD DEAD TREE is offered the opportunity to record an EP at the world’s most prestigious music studio: the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London (THE BEATLES, PINK FLOYD, U2, RADIOHEAD…). Right after this unique experience, the band quickly dived back into the writing and recording processes for the album Second Thoughts which was released by the end of 2024.

In the spring 2025, as THE OLD DEAD TREE toured France with KLONE and achieved the production of the 4 tracks recorded in Abbey Road Studios to give birth to the EP London Sessions.

HOWLING GIANT Reveal New Video Single ‘Hunter’s Mark’ from Forthcoming Album

HOWLING GIANT present the video clip ‘Hunter’s Mark‘ as the final advance single taken from the cosmic stoner metal outfit’s forthcoming album “Crucible & Ruin“. The third full-length by the Nashville, Tennessee band has been chalked up for release on October 31, 2025, via Magnetic Eye Records and is available for pre-order here: https://spkr.store/collections/howling-giant

Furthermore, HOWLING GIANT will be joining ANCIIENTS as special guests live in Canada & the US in November 2025. Please find the currently confirmed live dates below.

HOWLING GIANT comment: “While our previous member James was in the band, we wrote ‘Hunter’s Mark’ as one of the first songs with him“, drummer and vocalist Zach Wheeler reveals. “We were working in our friend Drew Harakal’s studio in Texas and Tom and James came up with that harmonized verse riff. We instantly knew  that we had a slamming track on our hands. I tend to play around with my drum setup when writing, so I set up a second ride cymbal on my left hand side for a little extra flavor in the verses. We loved working with Willy from Polar Desert Studios on the ‘Aluminum Crown’ video a while back. So we brought him back to create a static animation 2D/3D model blended video to accompany this track. Enjoy!“

Tracklist

  1. Canyons
  2. Hunter’s Mark
  3. Archon
  4. Lesser Gods
  5. Beholder I: Downfall
  6. Archivist
  7. Scepter and Scythe
  8. Melchor’s Bones
  9. The Observatory
  10. Beholder II: Labyrinth

HOWLING GIANT take another huge step on their third full-length “Crucible & Ruin”, a collection of sparking ideas, captivating melodies, and heavy riffing close to perfection – quite a feat of on-point songwriting for such a still young band!

This is the band’s first album to feature new fourth member Adrian Lee Zambrano. Although the guitarist and synth player arrived somewhat toward the end of the writing process, he was still able to add his mark with cool textures on the record. The extra guitar certainly adds even more punch to HOWLING GIANT‘s sound, which delivers a slightly more aggressive approach compared with predecessor “Glass Future” (2023).

It also helped the overall feel of “Crucible & Ruin” that this is the band’s first album to be entirely recorded in a proper studio setting as opposed to their home studio, “the bunker”. HOWLING GIANT even leaned into some raw band live takes to capture the emotion in the room.

Lyrically, “Crucible & Ruin” explores the story of the clash of a novice deity against the forces of primordial chaos as an overarching theme that loosely connects the songs. This is also reflected in the album artwork, which was painted by the mother of guitarist and vocalist Tom Polzine, featuring a unique style of alcohol ink on yupo paper.

HOWLING GIANT hail from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, sidestepping the self-proclaimed Music City’s assembly line of modern pop country while taking inspiration from the brilliant songwriters and virtuoso session players that keep the town’s musical legacy burning bright. Fertile ground for a preeminent fuzz-psych power trio, now turned quartet, who consciously live in the pocket of that lineage!

Following a trilogy of EPs, “Howling Giant” (2015), “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 1” (2016), and “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2” (2017), HOWLING GIANT struck a chord with critics and fans on their debut full-length “The Space between Worlds” in 2019. “Glass Future” proved a gargantuan leap for the band that now featured Sebastian Baltes, son of legendary ACCEPT bass master Peter Baltes. Released in 2023, “Glass Future” brought their outstanding musicianship and triple vocal attack fully into stride.

HOWLING GIANT storm forward once more in defiant refusal to remain still. Having grown into a four-piece as well as in their prowess as musicians and songwriters, “Crucible & Ruin” is an album at least as big as their name. Don’t take our word for it, just give it a spin – or two or three…

Norwegian progressive metal act Course Of Fate proudly announce the release of their upcoming studio album, Behind The Eclipse, due out January 30, 2026 via ROAR!

Pre-orders are now available at https://courseoffate.rpm.link/btealbumPR, and fans can get a first taste of the record through the brand-new lyric video for the first single, “Sky Is Falling”, out today.

Stream / Download: https://courseoffate.rpm.link/skyPR

Guitarist Kenneth Henriksen shares a striking reflection behind the song:
“Some walk in the brightest of light all their life. Most wander in gloom, with sudden bursts of illumination. A few will soar high above the clouds – gazing directly into the blazing sun, only to fall, deep into the darkness. Many a time, those who fall will grab hold on others as they descend, dragging them into the dark. It is a good thing, then, that only in the rarest of times a soul falls so hard that it seems like the whole sky is falling with it.”

Following their critically acclaimed concept album Mindweaver (2020) – hailed alongside classics like Operation: Mindcrime, Scenes from a Memory, and The Wall – and their powerful sophomore effort Somnium (2023), Course Of Fate return with their most dynamic and heavy material yet.

Behind The Eclipse presents a diverse collection of songs where light and darkness intertwine—both musically and lyrically. Though not a concept album, each track connects through this theme, showcasing the band’s signature mix of melodic depth, progressive sophistication, and emotional weight!

ALTER BRIDGE Return with Second Song + Video ‘What Lies Within’

With the overwhelming response to their first single in over two years “Silent Divide,” acclaimed rockers ALTER BRIDGE are back with another song from their upcoming 8th studio album, Alter Bridge. “What Lies Within” is now available via all digital service providers from the quartet comprised of Myles Kennedy on vocals/guitars, Mark Tremonti on guitars/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass and Scott Phillips on drums. The song opens with a driving guitar riff from Kennedy and Tremonti as before the rhythmic groove of Marshall and Phillips pushes the song. The lyrics are a cautionary tale of the darkness inside mankind as Kennedy sings “What lies within, beneath the skin, something so dark and foreboding.” An animated video for “What Lies Within” was directed by J.T. Ibanez

With more than two decades performing together, acclaimed rockers ALTER BRIDGE show no signs of slowing down. Known for their memorable riffs, infectious vocal melodies and dueling guitar attack, the quartet have garnered themselves massive critical and fan acclaim around the globe. The band looks to continue that trend when they release their self-titled, eighth studio album next year via Napalm Records. Alter Bridge will be released on January 9, 2026, and first physical formats are now available for pre-order.

Alter Bridge is comprised of 12 all new tracks from the band and features some of their most iconic moments on record. Songs like “Rue The Day,” “Disregarded” and “Scales Are Falling” will fit alongside any of the classic songs from ALTER BRIDGE’s catalog. “Trust In Me” shows Myles and Mark sharing vocal duties as Myles handles the verse duties while Mark takes the chorus. That strategy is flipped on “Tested And Able” as Mark handles the verses and Myles takes on the choruses behind one of the band’s heaviest intros to date, giving way to an unforgettable melody. “Hang By A Thread” is sure to become a show favorite as it hints at some of the most popular songs in the band’s catalog. The album closer “Slave To Master” is an epic track that ALTER BRIDGE has come to be known for and is the longest song the quartet has recorded to date. The first single, “Silent Divide,” has been moving up the Active Rock charts since it was released last month and has been viewed over 2 million times since it was released.

Pre-Order your Copy of Alter Bridge HERE

The band worked with longtime collaborator and producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette on their eighth album. Alter Bridge was recorded over the course of two months this spring in the legendary 5150 studio in California and Elvis’ recording studio in Florida.

Alter Bridge track listing:
1)   Silent Divide (5:06)
2)   Rue The Day (4:46)
3)   Power Down (4:08)
4)   Trust In Me (4:48)
5)   Disregarded (3:55)
6)   Tested And Able (4:36)
7)   What Lies Within (5:07)
8)   Hang By A Thread (4:11)
9)   Scales Are Falling (5:54)
10) Playing Aces (4:05)
11) What Are You Waiting For (5:00)
12) Slave To Master (9:03)

To coincide with the announcement of the new album, ALTER BRIDGE will be touring in support of the release. The band is heading out on the What Lies Within Tour. The 31-date tour of Europe will kick off on January 15 in Germany before it wraps on March 5 in Nottingham, UK. Joining the band on the tour will be Daughtry and Sevendust. About ALTER BRIDGE:
Back in 2004, four lifelong musicians got together down in Florida. Even though they had traveled separate paths, similar lessons learned, wisdom earned, and dues paid united these gentlemen—Myles Kennedy [vocals, guitar], Mark Tremonti [guitar, vocals], Brian Marshall [bass], and Scott Phillips [drums]—as ALTER BRIDGE. Over the ensuing two decades, the band endured countless trials and tribulations, defied every odd, and rose to the head of the pack as a hard rock juggernaut, cementing a singular legacy by selling out arenas, gathering nearly one billion streams, inciting international acclaim, and quietly attracting a diehard audience. Beginning with the Top 5 entry of 2004’s gold certified One Day Remains, the band have scored six consecutive Top 20 debuts on the Billboard 200. Among a myriad of highlights, Guitarist Magazine applauded “Blackbird” for the “Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time,” the ABIII single “Isolation” vaulted to #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart, 2013’s Fortress received rare perfect scores from KERRANG! and Total Guitar, and Walk The Sky shook the Top Rock Albums Chart at #1. Beyond packing O2 Arena and Royal Albert Hall, Classic Rock hailed 2022’s Pawns & Kings as “the Rolls-Royce of ALTER BRIDGE records” in a 4.5-out-of-5-star review. Plus, the latter LP garnered praise from American Songwriter, Guitar World, and Loudwire, while Billboard christened them “one of America’s premiere hard rock quartets.” Channeling the same hunger, the band continue to push themselves on their self-titled eighth full-length offering, Alter Bridge [Napalm Records]. It embodies everything they’re known for such as the precise riffs, towering hooks, and solos that practically break guitar strings as they burst through the clouds.
