FLYING DISK Revisit Their Roots with “Circling Further Down – Remixed & Remastered”

On October 29th, 2025, FLYING DISK will release “Circling Further Down – Remixed & Remastered”, a new edition of the debut album by the Piedmontese trio, co-produced by Karma Conspiracy (IT), Forbidden Place Records (US), Troppa Carne Al Fuoco Records (IT), Dischi Rozzi (IT), Entes Anomicos (DE), Loudnessy Sonic Dream (IT), Tifone Crew (IT), and Day Off Records (FR).

Pre-orders and the single “Scrape the Bottom” are available HERE.

“Circling Further Down” was born from the collaboration of Simone Calvo (guitar), Luca Mauro (bass), and Mattia Fenoglio (drums), young musicians eager to give voice to their creativity and express themselves through their music.

The sound is rooted in the New York noise rock scene (Unsane, Jesus Lizard, Helmet, Melvins), while the lyrics reflect the emotions, struggles, and experiences of young musicians in provincial Italy: hard work, exhausting shifts, cultural isolation, and the lack of spaces for artistic expression.

Originally released on November 6th, 2014, and co-produced by several Italian labels, the album was followed by a tour of around 100 shows across the country.

In 2024, for its tenth anniversary, the band – now featuring Enrico Reineri on drums and Francesco Martinat on bass – decided to rework the original tracks to make them sound as they had originally envisioned. This resulted in a fully remixed and remastered edition, with a more mature sound reflecting the band’s growth and evolving tastes over the years.

–Recorded by Francesco Groppo & Wherever Recording in Summer 2014.
–Studio assistant: Francesco Martinat.
–Remixed in January 2025 by Francesco Martinat at Ciabòt Recordings, Cuneo, Italy.
–Remastered in May 2025 by Giovanni “Joo Bany” Stella.
–Artwork by Luca “Solo Macello”.

FLYING DISK formed in 2010 in Fossano, Province of Cuneo, from the idea of Simone Calvo, Mattia Fenoglio, and Luca Mauro. Just over eighteen and passionate about punk and hardcore, the trio drew strong inspiration from the local Canalese Noise scene, including bands such as Dead Elephant, Cani Sciorrì, Ruggine, and many others.

Between 2012 and 2014, they recorded a demo and their debut album, “Circling Further Down”, produced by Francesco “Frankie” Groppo and co-released by several Italian labels including Dio Drone, Dreamingorilla, and Taxi Driver Rec. Following these releases, the band performed over 60 shows throughout Italy in 2015.

In 2017, after a lineup change bringing Enrico Reineri on drums, they released “Urgency” on CD and vinyl. This album marked a turning point, with a more defined and personal sound. It was published by a network of DIY labels across the USA, Italy, France, and Switzerland, with artwork by illustrator “Solo Macello,” who has since handled all the band’s visuals. A tour across Italy and Europe followed the release.

At the end of 2022, the EP “In The Heart Of The City” was released, recorded in the band’s studio by Francesco Martinat, who had taken over on bass two years prior. The EP reflects years of sonic and stylistic research, aiming to break free from genre labels and achieve an original sound. Mastering was handled by Jonathan Nuñez (Torche) at Sound Artillery Studio in Miami, Florida (USA). The EP was released by Karma Conspiracy Records (IT), Araki Records (FR), Urgence Disk (CH), and Forbidden Place Rec (USA). Its release was supported by a tour across Italy and Europe, including prestigious festivals and venues such as Heavy Psych Sound Fest, Hiroshima Mon Amour in Turin, and Bloom in Mezzago. In 2023, the band reached over 70,000 Spotify streams.

Throughout their career, FLYING DISK have shared stages and festivals with acts including Agnostic Front, Mondo Generator, Nebula, Messa, Unida, Elder, Big Business, Nick Oliveri, Zu, Uzeda, Acid Mother Temple, Mos Generator, Cripple Bastards, Bull Brigade, Frammenti, Hawks, OvO, Zeus!, Ornaments, Lili Refrain, Ronin, Hierophant, Mombu, Movie Star Junkies, Questions, Marnero, Storm{O}, Riviera, Hobos, Levante, Bianco, Cosmo, and many others.

Revered avant-garde doom acts BELL WITCH and AERIAL RUIN have confirmed their much anticipated second collaborative album “Stygian Bough Vol. II“ will be released November 14th via Profound Lore. Pre-orders are available now via https://orcd.co/ek5joa4.

Today, the bands have revealed the first released track, ‘Waves Became The Sky’.

“We’re thrilled to unveil ‘Waves Became the Sky’ today,” says BELL WITCH’s Dylan Desmond. “It is a well rounded introduction to Stygian Bough Volume II, with lyrical references to several albums in our catalog. Most predominately it recalls ‘Rows (of Endless Waves)’ from Bell Witch’s debut Longing which is, fittingly, where Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin first collaborated.“

‘Waves Became The Sky,’ expands on the themes of “Rows (of Endless Waves)’ pondering, as AERIAL RUIN’s Erik Moggridge says, “the battle of scientific thinking compared to superstitious thinking.” And it wastes no time in its approach; sonic waves form an immediate pulse well known to anyone familiar with BELL WITCH and “Stygian Bough Vol. I“. The immediacy of Moggridge’s guitar and vocal choruses add layer upon layer of harmonic depth with polyrhythmic melodies as they soar with Desmond’s two handed method of bass guitar.

Recorded with Billy Anderson (Agalloch, Pallbearer), “Stygian Bough Vol. II” examines a world in which various forms of worship empower, eclipse, destroy and feed on each other. “All four songs explore different aspects of worship or awe – transcendent experiences in different contexts,” Moggridge says.

Over the course of 4 songs, clocking in at just under an hour, each musical piece sets itself apart from the individual bands non collaborative catalog. The resulting record is steeped in mysticism, legend, and the examination of “the connective threads that shape and influence the culture, mythology, and customs of all human societies throughout time in unique, localized ways,” says Desmond.

The cover of the album is adorned by a stunning painting by acclaimed artist Denis Forkas (Behemoth, Wolves in the Throne Room). The piece encapsulates the focused attention and emotional heft of the record. “Denis Forkas’ cover art immediately spoke to me with the symbolism of the severed head,” says Desmond. “In conjunction with Stygian Bough’s aligning with James Frazer’s book The Golden Bough, the branch of symbology concerning severed heads throughout human societies is fascinating. No doubt, this fascination has been shared by many of our ancestors as well as those yet to come; it is something of our identity.”

“Stygian Bough Vol. II“ will be available on limited edition 2xLP vinyl and CD.

Metallic Gold Marble (Band exclusive, limited to 300)
Mercury (Profound Lore exclusive, limited to 500)

About STYGIAN BOUGH:

In our human minds, according to the Law of Contagious Magic as described in ‘The Golden Bough’ by anthropologist James Frazer, contact between two objects creates an inseparable thread between them. A gift from a dead friend forever holds this magic like a scar reflecting a wound. Similarly, a piece of food that touches the floor is suddenly abject and rotten. Pairing this notion with the Law of Similarity Magic, as described by Frazer, where an object resembling another can share its power, a musical notion can be understood to serve as an unbodied conduit of such magics; an emotional contact between the music and audience wherein such sorcery threads an inseparable seam that, for a time, resemble each other.

Aptly named in reference to the aforementioned book, Stygian Bough, the collaboration between Bell Witch (Dylan Desmond, Jesse Shreibman) and Aerial Ruin (Erik Moggridge) enlivens its unbodied presence resembling both projects as a conduit in its own separate entity.

The partnership at the center of Stygian Bough is over in a decade in the making, growing from Moggridge’s recurring contributions to the Bell Witch catalog. Their initial collusion occurring on the debut Bell Witch album Longing (2012) following which, Moggridge would return to guest on both Four Phantoms (2015) and Mirror Reaper (2017).

Stygian Bough Volume I was released in 2020, Volume II is imminent.

Stygian Bough is:

Erik Moggridge – Vocals and Guitar
Jesse Shreibman – Drums & Percussion, Organ, Piano, Synthesizer
Dylan Desmond – Bass, Synthesizer

DETHFX Unleash Debut Album “Antiutopia”, Out Now

After nearly three years in the making, Orlando-based metal juggernaut DETHFX proudly unleashes their debut album, Antiutopia. Out now on all major platforms, the record delivers seven tracks of unrelenting groove, razor-sharp riffs, and pure sonic devastation.

Most of the album was tracked at The 1885 in Cincinnati, OH—a historic church-turned-studio helmed by Jasen Wilson, who also mixed and produced the record. The result is an album that blends crushing heaviness with a larger-than-life atmosphere, capturing the raw intensity of DETHFX’s live sound.

“We poured everything into this record. It’s heavy, it’s chaotic, and it’s 100% us,” says the band. “This is the beginning of our world. Welcome to Antiutopia.”

With seven punishing tracks, Antiutopia takes listeners through a sonic apocalypse. Relentless grooves collide with thrash aggression and modern heaviness, all wrapped in a crystal-clear production that refuses to compromise.

The band extends massive gratitude to those that supported us, such as Max Norman, Bill Hudson, Mike Lepond, Johnnie G at Sound Exchange, and especially Jasen Wilson, whose vision and dedication helped bring Antiutopia to life.

Antiutopia is available worldwide on all streaming platforms.
Listen, follow, and shop merch at: https://www.dethfx.com/

Tracklisting:

  1. Recycled Souls
  2. Unnatural Reign
  3. War Morality
  4. Microbe
  5. Nomads of the Damned
  6. Infirma Mente
  7. Antiutopia

Formed in Orlando, Florida in 2021, DETHFX quickly earned a reputation as “Death’s Favorite Band,” delivering a sound that hits like a dump truck driving 100 miles an hour off a cliff.

The lineup—Brett Kaffenberger (bass), Rob Tetro (drums), Rod Mariani (lead guitar), and Raul Salas (guitar/vocals)—draws influence from metal titans Slayer, Pantera, Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden, while injecting a fresh, aggressive energy that redefines modern metal.

Live, DETHFX is an onslaught—dynamic changes, tight harmonies, and infectious grooves executed with surgical precision and raw intensity. Every show is an event: aggressive, technical, and unforgettable.

In 2025, DETHFX dropped their debut single “Recycled Souls”, setting the stage for Antiutopia and daring listeners to survive the ride.

MARTRÖÐ Ink Deal with DMP & Announce Debut Full-Length Album “Draumsýnir eldsins”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 8, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: MARTRÖÐ. Leave a comment

Icelandic/US Black Metal entity MARTRÖРwas birthed in 2015 by a group of established artists wishing to see what emerges when singular wills become a shared vision. The first output from this collective – based around core members A.P. (SKÁPHE) and H.V. Lyngdal (WORMLUST) – was the acclaimed 2016 EP “Transmutation of Wounds“, a dark descent into layered and intense sound as a mirror of existential fracture.

After a long period of silence – MARTRÖРonly “speak” when there is something of significance to share – a new iteration of the project now arises in 2025 to unveil their stunning first full-length, “Draumsýnir eldsins” (“Dream Visions of the Fire“).

The band comments:

“MARTRÖРremains what it has always been: a convergence of ideas and visions. While the outer circle has changed over the years, the two principal songwriters, A.P. and H.V., have remained constant, with the addition of Jack Blackburn, Magnús Halldór Pálsson, and a number of collaborators carrying the project’s essence forward. What ultimately defined “Draumsýnir eldsins” was time itself, not as a neutral container, but as an active force. The album emerged slowly, fragment by fragment, over nearly a decade. Its framing draws on the medieval tradition of the dream vision: the idea that through dreams we process what reason cannot grasp, and that within the surreal and fleeting there lies a higher truth.“

To propagate their ominous vision, MARTRÖРhas entered a pact with Debemur Morti Productions to issue the entity’s debut full-length on December 12th. A foretaste of what’s to come will be revealed on October 23rd, accompanied by pre-orders.

Concerning “Draumsýnir eldsins“, MARTRÖРstate:

“We are exploring the fragility of creation, thought experiments like the mortality of gods, and ultimately the dissolution of form, the waking nightmare. Our work is an exploration of collapse: angels constructed from broken remnants, divinity suspended in endless death, and reality revealed as a dream on the verge of vanishing. The darkness we try to channel is a portrait of being itself, a confrontation with nothingness until the dream ends.“

Follow the collective’s work on Facebook and Instagram.

MARTRÖРbegan in 2015 not as a band, but as an experiment in convergence. It was never about the individual, but about what emerges when singular wills dissolve into a shared vision. In this sense, MARTRÖРfunctions as both seed and symptom: the impulse that later unfolded into Mystískaos, but also a form of collective dreaming in its own right.

The first articulation of this came with the “Transmutation of Wounds” EP in 2016, a work that did not seek catharsis but rather confrontation, a descent into layered sound as a mirror of existential fracture. After this, MARTRÖРentered a long period of gestation. What now emerges years later is not a continuation but a transformation: the full-length “Draumsýnir eldsins“, a cycle of dream-visions where humanity dreams its own apocalypse, angels are stitched from remnants, divinity is suspended in endless death, and creation collapses as the dreamer stirs awake.

MARTRÖРhas remained intentionally outside the categories of stage, permanence, or identity. It exists in the unwaking hours, in the liminal space where visions take form. Its essence is the alignment of forces that briefly converge to give voice to dissolution, not performance, but invocation; not continuity, but the persistence of a nightmare that survives only through its recording.

FRAYLE Drop Scary Good Doom Anthem ‘Boo’ with Official Video

In celebration of this Friday’s release of their new album, Heretics & Lullabies (October 10 / Napalm Records), as well as their upcoming USA tour supporting occult rockers Dogma, Cleveland based doom unit FRAYLE have revealed their final pre-album single, the airy, crushing “Boo”. The track features a guest contribution from metal vocalist Jason Popson.

Accompanied by another one of the band’s trademark high production, beautifully macabre music videos, “Boo” injects mid-tempo flavor and multifaceted vocal balance into the album as crushing weight lands alongside each hook, with bending guitar tone and dark, sparkling atmosphere swirling around pounding percussion.

FRAYLE says about “Boo”:
“’Boo’ was inspired by an incident in Germany, when Gwyn, walking alone on a dark street, startled a woman traveling with her companions. She screamed, and the entire group hurried to the other side of the road. The song is a tongue-in-cheek response to moments like these—because for some of us, every day is Halloween.”

FRAYLE has been lauded as one of the fastest-rising, most haunting currently active modern doom metal outfits of late, infusing their sound with eclectic elements and now reinventing their trademark spectral sonic profile. Merging the heaviness of occult-driven doom and blackgaze with frontwoman Gwyn Strang’s distinctively eerie vocal stylings and the crushing guitars of Sean Bilovecky, the band has fully realized their “lullabies of chaos” musical vision with Heretics & Lullabies.

Recorded by FRAYLE and produced, mixed and mastered by Aaron Chaparian at Iron Audio (Bleeding Through, Harms Way), Heretics & Lullabies is a must-listen for any fan of doom, post-metal or atmosphere-heavy alt-rock, but also a pristinely phantomic journey for any heavy music fan as it maintains its accessible edge throughout.

The album kicks off with first single “Walking Wounded”, a whispering wall-of-sound that crushes with spine-tingling stacks of harmony. The deeply punishing atmosphere continues into second track “Summertime Sadness”, an entirely reworked doom-laden cover of the Lana Del Rey hit. Mid-album cuts such as “Demons” and “Glass Blown Heart” flirt with threateningly macabre lyrical poetry and otherworldly melody, while glacially-paced anthems “Souvenirs Of Your Betrayal” – described as a deeply personal look at the depths of despair after a painful deception – and “Run” double down on the aggressive, suffocatingly beautiful ambience and Gwyn Strang’s shimmering, beckoning vocal timbre. Hair-raising “Hymn For The Living” and standout single “Heretic” inject heavy rock edge and arena-ready drums into the mix, before the album concludes with droning melodic masterpiece “Only Just Once” – an unforgettable closer to this colossal modern doom compendium. Heretics and hypocrites beware – Heretics & Lullabies will perpetually etch itself into the darkest corners of your psyche, taking deeper hold with each spin.
