25 years, a quarter of a century, is a very long time in the life of any human being. And maybe even more so, in the lifespan of a recording of music. Yet “Further” by American stoner metal band SOLACE, first released at the turn of the millennium, has stood the test of time. Its tracks feel just as contemporary and relevant as in the year 2000.

A 25th anniversary is a great occasion for an enhanced, extended, and re-mastered edition of a timeless classic, but this much-deserved reissue was already decided upon when original SOLACE singer Jason L. sadly passed away in January 2025. This turns the new edition of “Further” into an unplanned but due tribute to his legacy and everything that Jason brought to the band during his formative years as their tortured and brilliant frontman.

SOLACE are celebrated veterans of the American metal scene. Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey at the windswept shore of the Western Atlantic, the band was founded in 1996. Built on a solid foundation of classic metal, early doom and punk ethic, the original four-piece infused a healthy dose of hardcore fury into grooving, grinding sludge.

Three years after the success of “Further” on both sides of the Atlantic, SOLACE returned with the sophomore album “13” (2003) that witnessed the Americans expanding and solidifying their style by highlighting the epic side of their songwriting. In the wake of this album, the band was invited twice to perform at the prestigious Roadburn Festival in 2006 and 2009, which further endeared them to an international audience.

SOLACE “Further”-era Lineup

Following a string of singles and EPs, the shoremen returned with the acclaimed third album “A.D.” in 2010. Although this release was again well received, a hiatus followed during which SOLACE implemented changes in their line-up. This manoeuvre got the heavy ship afloat again, and the remarkable full-length number four, “The Brink”, made landfall in 2019. This album has been described as a glorious trek through churning riffage, weighty doom power and drunken sea shanties, while the massive use of NWOBHM dual-guitar attack was also gladly noted.

SOLACE call their amalgamation of doom and heavy metal with hardcore elements dirt metal, while elsewhere it has been somewhat tongue-in-cheekily dubbed shorecore. Others file the New Jersey five-piece under stoner metal – and in truth, all these descriptions fit to an extent.

Raise a glass to Jason’s legacy and enjoy his outstanding performance on SOLACE‘s debut album “Further” that has been diligently and respectfully remastered to shine brighter than ever before!

In an effort to finally present their unfiltered vision now, Aerosmith Co-Founders Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have newly mixed the original recordings and tapes alongside GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer and mixer Zakk Cervini and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Steve Berkowitz. As such, this fresh Remastered Album Mix of the record is the crown jewel of the robust Legendary Edition collection.

Housed in a stunning 5LP Deluxe Box Set, it boasts the Original Album now remastered on 180g Clear Vinyl, the brand-new Remastered Album Mixpressed on 180g translucent Red Vinyl, a highly sought-after live performance from Paul’s Mall back in 1973 on 180g Black Vinyl, a host of recently unearthed and unheard studio tracks on 180g Black Vinyl, and an exclusive clear UV cloud-effect 12” vinyl with “Dream On” (Remastered) and “Dream On” (Mix) placed atop a printed sky-blue slipmat. With creative direction and iconic images by renowned photographer Ross Halfin, with creative direction by Halfin and Shabs Mohammad, the package documents the genesis of Aerosmith with a very special hardback book featuring never-before-seen photos. Penned by author and veteran music writer Rick Florino, the liner notes tell the story of Aerosmith in the band’s own words with new interviews with all five original members as well as perspectives, thoughts, and adoration from the likes of Dolly Parton, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Sully Erna of Godsmack, and more. The package also features an exclusive fold-out 24” by 36” poster and sticker sheet. The box itself unfolds into a 3D Aerosmith popup Diorama.

Additionally, two exclusive fanpacks are available for purchase. The Aerosmith – Legendary Collector’s Edition Fanpack features the 5LP Deluxe Box Set and a satin bomber jacket, and Aerosmith – Legendary Edition Fanpack includes the Translucent Red Vinyl as well as a brand-new band T-Shirt.

Then, there’s the 3CD Aerosmith (Legendary Expanded Edition). It comprises the remastered Original Album, Album Mix, Live at Paul’s Mall, and the unearthed and unheard studio tracks. The 16-page booklet features new photos.

The Legendary Edition CD includes a 12-page booklet complete with photos, while the Legendary Edition LP is pressed on 180g Black Vinyl or limited-edition Translucent Red Vinyl encased within a numbered premium tip-on jacket.

Beyond the new mixes, the collection boasts a slew of hidden gems—which even Aerosmith’s most ardent faithful have never experienced until now. Among those, listeners will uncover the “Harmonica Bass Jam Jelly,” an unfiltered rehearsal and alternate take of “Make It,” and the almost six-minute epic “Joined At The Hip.” The latter jam illuminates their off-the-cuff chemistry in the early days and even previews the nascent “Sweet Emotion” lick on the bridge.

Aerosmith first released their self-titled debut, Aerosmith, on January 5, 1973. They had notably recorded it in the heart of Boston at Intermedia Studios on Newbury Street, cutting future classics “Make It,” “Mama Kin,” and, of course, “Dream On” during the sessions. The record’s success would be one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most famous slow-burn underdog stories. Upon its release, the quintet had hit the road hard for the next two years until “Dream On” finally took flight in the latter half of 1975. It eventually climbed into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and has persisted as arguably one of the most popular rock ‘n’ roll songs in history, landing on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time,” gaining induction into the GRAMMY® Hall of Fame in 2018, and even eclipsing 1.5 billion streams on Spotify to date.

Later certified 2x-Platinum by the RIAA, the album finds the band at their rawest, packing a one-two punch of lean distorted riffing, bluesy grooves, and seismic vocals and effectively setting the template for not only the next 50 years of their career, but rock ‘n’ roll at large.

Before all of the accolades, sold-out stadiums, and expansive catalog of classics, Aerosmith is where it all began…

Most recently, Aerosmith just collaborated with YUNGBLUD on the acclaimed new One More Time EP. It catapulted to #1 on the Billboard Top Rock & Alternative Albums Chart and #9 on the Billboard 200, making history and enshrining Aerosmith as “the second group—and fifth act overall—to notch a Top 10 in each of the last six decades,” according to Billboard. Not to mention, the EP has amassed tens of millions streams already.

ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ’s BLUE MEDUSA Unveil New Single + Video ‘Checkmate’

Internationally acclaimed vocalist Alissa White-Gluz returns with “Checkmate,” a striking new single that marks a powerful evolution in both sound and creative vision.

Beloved for her commanding presence in extreme metal, White-Gluz steps forward here with a renewed sense of freedom, fully embracing the breadth of her vocal range and artistic identity. “Checkmate” showcases a dynamic fusion of melody, heaviness, and razor-sharp precision, delivering a track that is as catchy as it is emotionally resonant. The crushing new single was written by Alissa White-Gluz, Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia, and mixed and mastered by Kile Odell.

“This is a song where everything just clicked,” says White-Gluz. “Checkmate is an extremely cathartic song for me. It was created in one of those flow states where the lyrics and melodies and rhythms just write themselves and you get the feeling that you’re onto something powerful. It’s probably the heaviest thing I’ve written in terms of lyrics, and probably the lightest of what we have cooking in terms of sound. I wanted to share the intensity of these feelings with fans and give them something to hold onto. I’m so happy to see so much support for Blue Medusa already; fans can look forward to more dark, heavy, brutal and haunting music very soon.”

Beyond the music, “Checkmate” also highlights White-Gluz’s expanding role as a visual storyteller. Co-directing the music video with Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films – whom she previously collaborated with on high-ranking videos for “The Wolf You Feed” with Nita Strauss and “I Am a Machine” with Kat Von D – she brings a cinematic, detail-driven approach that elevates the track into a fully immersive experience. Built around a unique, outside-the-box concept developed by White-Gluz, the video unfolds within a game of chess, where each move carries deliberate allegory and layered symbolism.

“I know what every frame is for,” jokes White-Gluz. “I’ll share that someday, but for now, I welcome fans to dive deeper into the meaning and develop their own interpretations. That’s what makes videos and movies fun and interesting, in my opinion.”

The result is a release that feels both familiar and refreshingly new, bridging the gap between longtime fans of her work and listeners discovering her for the first time. “Checkmate” balances melody with intensity, offering a thought-provoking and emotionally charged entry point into what promises to be a bold new chapter.

Fans can stream “Checkmate” now at: bluemedusa.com/checkmate

Blue Medusa will also appear at major U.S. festivals this year, including Louder Than Life and Aftershock Festival.

With “Checkmate,” Alissa White-Gluz sets the tone for what lies ahead: fearless, expansive, and entirely her own.

WHO ON EARTH Announce New Album “It Takes The Village”, Out May 8th

Ushering in a new wave of heavy metal, New Jersey hellraisers WHO ON EARTH have announced their forthcoming album, It Takes The Village. Set for release on May 8th, the band’s second full-length features 12 headbanging tracks of unfiltered, high-octane mayhem.

Pre-Save It Takes The Village: https://foundation-media.ffm.to/ittv

Commenting on the new album, bassist Pete Rizzi says:

“It Takes The Village is a true representation of the diversity of Who On Earth, demonstrating the lack of self-imposed boundaries in our music. Our brand-new material showcases our continued growth as songwriters, and we’ve also included a few reimagined versions of earlier tracks that feel fresh and more powerful than ever. After five years of building, this release is our way of saying, ‘This is Who On Earth.”

Coinciding with the announcement, WHO ON EARTH have unveiled their second single, “Any Other Way”—an anthemic rocker primed for the stage, arriving just ahead of the band’s upcoming U.S. tour with FOZZY.

Rizzi adds:

“‘Any Other Way’ is a rearranged, re-recorded, remixed, and remastered version of ‘Black Swan’ from our debut album, Blame. It’s a song about accepting the events in our lives and the choices that brought us here. Regret has no place in that process—the past is the past. Would we do things differently? Of course. But maybe everything had to unfold exactly as it did. It’s about embracing where you are, learning from it, and ultimately saying, ‘I wouldn’t have it any other way.’”

The new single follows the previously released track “Vigilance,” which also appears on It Takes The Village.

About WHO ON EARTH:

Who On Earth cut its teeth through relentless gigging across the New York tri-state area, with founding members Coosh and Pete previously tearing up stages as MadHaus. During 2020, the longtime collaborators shifted focus from covers to original material, quickly writing ten songs and entering Sonic Stomp Studio with producer Mike Orlando (Category 7, Adrenaline Mob). Joined by drummer Joe D’Aqui, the group crafted a heavy, story-driven sound rooted in influences like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Tool. Despite pandemic delays, the sessions yielded their debut full-length album Blame’, released in October 2022.

Following the addition of guitarists Bruce Gatewood and Johnny James Barone, the band gained traction with a heavier reimagining of Toto’s “Hold the Line,” now their most-streamed track. Lineup changes continued with drummer Howie Fallon joining in 2024, bringing renewed chemistry and power, though tragedy struck later that year with the passing of Gatewood. In late 2024, Jimmy Kocha joined, filling the role of co-lead guitarist, solidifying the lineup that is currently in full force today. Honoring his legacy, the band pushed forward, releasing the Smoke & Mirrors EP in March 2025—a sharp, socially reflective six-song release.

2026 marks Who On Earth’s return with their brand new album, It Takes The Village; a 12 track record of pure and relentless rock and metal that reignites the spirit of heavy music.

Lineup:
Coosh – Vocals
Pete Rizzi – Bass
Johnny James Barone – Guitar
Jimmy Kocha – Guitar
Howie Fallon – Drums
