DHARMA GUNS Pour Gasoline on Flaming Map of Action Rock with Second Album “Nightmares and Broken Dreams”

Helsinki-based dandy punk band Dharma Guns return with their scorching second album, declaring themselves the kings of action rock and delivering a dark, feverish take on the state of the world. Nightmares and Broken Dreams will be released on April 24, 2026.

The album was released not only on digital platforms, but also on vinyl and CD.

Dharma Guns planted their flag firmly on the flaming map of action rock with their debut album Ex-Generation Superstars, which tackled generational divides. The new album turns its focus to the legacy we leave for future generations.

The sheer joy of rock ’n’ roll runs deep in the band’s DNA. It sparks throughout the album, and tracks like “King of Action Rock” kick the engine into overdrive.

“Writing ‘Shock O’clock’ marked the beginning of Nightmares and Broken Dreams. The lyrical world of the song set the tone for the entire album, and the guitar riff carries a hint of Nirvana. There’s something delicious about opening the record with the most hopeless track, featuring the line ‘we’ve had our chance / humankind won’t last’,” says vocalist-guitarist Pete, and continues: “But so it’s not all despair, the closing track ‘The Voice of the Underdogs’ carries a glimmer of hope and a message for humanity: be fucking kind.”

Dharma Guns have refined their rock ’n’ roll into a distinctive sound, carrying forward the legacy of bands like MC5, The Hellacopters and The Lords of the New Church. The second album is a tight, focused statement from the very heart of action rock. Song titles like “Devil’s Beat”, “Fear of Getting Bored” and “Clowns in the Castles” set the tone, but the band also explores new shades: “Bruised Body and a Broken Knee” leans heavily into blues, while “Black Cloud” even features acoustic guitars.

“‘Black Cloud’ is our grunge ballad. It’s a slowly building ode to a planet struggling with the climate crisis and denialism. It could have been born on the rainy streets of Seattle in the early ’90s. Our drummer Olli even calls it our ‘Stairway to Heaven’. And the recording process got emotional too — during mixing we were on the verge of falling apart over a single shaker. Some wanted it gone, others insisted it had to stay. In the end, everyone won: we re-recorded it and kept it in,” Pete laughs.

“‘Bruised Body and a Broken Knee’ was written while I was recovering from knee surgery last year. At its core, it deals with our relationship to the physical body — a temple of love for some, a temple of doom for others. The chorus swings like a drunken schlager band playing Tom Waits,” Pete describes.

The album has been preceded by the singles “King of Action Rock”, “Devil’s Beat”, “Scale of the Universe” and “The Voice of the Underdogs”. Dharma Guns’ debut album Ex-Generation Superstars was released in 2024.

Following the release, Dharma Guns will head out on a UK tour with glam punk legend Steve Vincent. The two will also share the stage in Helsinki and Turku at Dharma Guns’ album release shows.

SULPHUR AND MERCURY – Feat. Misery Index’s Jason Netherton – Reveal New Single ‘Sulphur Eternal’

Traditional heavy metal force SULPHUR AND MERCURY unveil their new single “Sulphur Eternal”, marking another step forward in the band’s evolving path.

Built upon their unmistakable foundation of occult-tinged classic metal, the track carries a renewed sense of purpose, shaped by the band’s reconfigured line-up and a sharpened creative direction.

“Sulphur Eternal” blends brooding atmospheres with riff-driven intensity, drawing from the spirit of late ’80s heavy metal while forging a distinct identity. The result is a dark, immersive composition that balances melody, weight, and arcane mood, reaffirming SULPHUR AND MERCURY as a compelling force for those drawn to the more esoteric side of traditional metal.

The band comments:

“‘Sulphur Eternal’ is our anthem – an unabashed affirmation of our dedication to the trade and task of sonic metallurgy. We wanted to make a triumphant ode to the classics of metal’s yesteryear, but also a song we could call ‘our own’ – a battle cry of sorts. Melodic passages and exultant choruses combine to make it an instant call to arms. ‘Under the fist of Mercury, the sulphur legions unite!”.

As time-travellers from 1987… SULPHUR AND MERCURY have arrived.

Born in the Cerverteri Necropolis under the blood moon of the Italian summer solstice, SULPHUR AND MERCURY forge haunted dirges of occultic heavy metal from the fires of its glorious past. Elements of Frostian apocalyptic doom are summoned and collide with the melodic instincts of the NWOBHM, manifesting caustic anthems to the arcane arts.

The group came together in 2021, when guitarist Francesco Conte and vocalist Jason Netherton bonded over their shared affinity for the darker incantations of 1980s heavy metal, along the lines of Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost, Satan and Sabbat (UK). The pair were later joined by drummer Dario Casabona and bassist Marco Mastrobuono, after which they commenced to songwriting and then recording in 2022. Like soothsayers channelling the spirit of ‘87 (a year pivotal for both Conte and Netherton in their metal edification), the band explicitly invoke the ghosts of metal’s past, in order to hammer it into a distinctly modern vision.

The outcome is the 6 track EP “Alchemia Prophetica”. Featuring 4 original songs and a cover of Satan’s demo-era anthem “Heads Will Roll”, the EP stands as an ode to the glory of heavy metal’s yesteryear in the form of haunting anthems to the unknown and otherworldly.

Following its release, the group relocated to Finland, carrying their arcane craft to new northern frontiers. With vocalist Jason Netherton long established in Helsinki and guitarist Francesco Conte now permanently based there, the band’s line-up has become predominantly Finnish, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its esoteric journey.

ROCK JUSTICE is a new hard rock/metal act featuring singer Maggy Luyten (Ayreon, Beautiful Sin, The Prize, ex-Nightmare) and guitarist Bas Maas (Doro, After Forever). The upcoming debut album, „You’ve Been Served“ blends varied song styles, tied together by a nostalgic vibe and well-crafted production. The musical direction was clear: Rock ’n’ Roll! Anything between hard rock and metal was welcome as long as it came from the heart. With ’70s and ’80s hard rock and metal running through their veins, the chemistry felt natural.

Today, ROCK JUSTICE release their new, second single, along with a video clip for the track “Rocker’s Confession“. Maggy Luyten comments: „You can lie to people, but not to music. It won’t judge or tell you what to do. Instead, it makes you feel and react in the most natural way, no need to think, just listen and let it all in.“

The album will be released on June 26th, 2026, via Fireflash Records. It’s an album meant to inspire, lift spirits and celebrate life. LIMINAL SKY Release New Single ‘A Solitary Future’ with Official Video

Liminal Sky is the rebirth of the creative partnership behind progressive post rock band Messenger, brought to life by producer Jaime Gomez Arellano and Daniel Knight. Their debut album All Tomorrow’s Darkness, featuring Mat McNerney (Hexvessel/Grave Pleasures), Kristoffer Rygg (Ulver) and members of Årabrot, Ulver and Jaga Jazzist will be released on 19th June, via Karisma Records.

Liminal Sky are now releasing the second single ‘A Solitary Future’, feat. Ulver.

Liminal Sky comment: “‘A Solitary Future’ explores the urge to escape your own mind, and the acceptance that some forms of solitude can’t be outrun. Kristoffer (Ulver) understood the emotional space immediately and his voice and harmonies give a sense of the vastness of distance and inevitability. This song is about fading light, unshared memories, and moving forward alone.“

Liminal Sky is the meeting point of two musicians searching for a way out of the darkness. Continuing their work from their previous band Messenger, Jaime Gomez Arellano and Daniel Knight channel sadness and loss into a shared musical language. The borderland between despondency and tear-stained hope has a name: Liminal Sky.

Progressive, widescreen guitars chime out, stark yet luminous, barren yet revealing as Liminal Sky layers and climaxes each song to a heady reverberating crescendo. The instrumentation on All Tomorrow’s Darkness is seamlessly eclectic, and spirited by a constellation of guest musicians and voices who appear throughout. Mat McNerney’s vocals and lyrics on six of the album’s nine tracks form the backbone of the record. Crafting the lyrics and vocal arrangements together with Gomez and Knight in Finland to establish the soul of their debut album, McNerney’s words articulate the album’s terrain. Having recently lost his mother, McNerney brought a profound personal resonance with songs like ‘In Some Secret Universe’ and ‘Algebra of Unknowing’ expanding the album’s honesty and depth.

Other voices move through All Tomorrow’s Darkness like spectral presences: Kristoffer Rygg (Ulver) brings a fragile, shimmering intensity to two tracks, while Karin Park (Årabrot) adds raw emotional gravity to ‘Penance,’ and Daniel O’Sullivan (Ulver, Æthenor, Grumbling Fur, Årabrot collaborator) provides a haunting vocal invocation on the title track. Around them, instrumental colours bloom across the record’s expanse with Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, The National Bank) threading saxophone, synths and lap steel, while Alicia Nurho (violinist/violist in contemporary classical & experimental music) paints the album with pale, trembling strings. Anders Møller (Kåre & The Cavemen / Euroboys, Ulver live percussionist) deepens the rhythmic pulse with ritualistic percussion, Tore Ylwizaker (Ulver) in one of his last recorded performances contributes a ghostly piano refrain, and Ole Alexander Halstensgård (Ulver) shadows the soundscape with dissolving electronic textures. Finally, Matt Rozeik (Necro Deathmort) (multi-instrumentalist/producer known for atmospheric electronic and alternative rock work) adds subtle, smouldering synth tones. Every collaborator adds texture without altering direction, held together by Gomez’s careful production and cohesive sonic identity for clarity and atmosphere.

Released worldwide by Karisma Records on 19th June, All Tomorrow’s Darkness introduces Liminal Sky as a music of fearless vulnerability. It is melancholic post-rock scraped down to bone, grief and beauty without resolution. For fans of Messenger, (early) Opeth,Jeff Buckley, Ulver, The Mars Volta, Anathema, Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Rós, and Talk Talk’s Spirit of Eden era.

All Tomorrow’s Darkness marks both an ending and a beginning: a final chapter in a long, difficult period for its creators, and the opening of a new path for Liminal Sky. Gomez has already begun writing the next Liminal Sky album. Whether out of necessity or instinct, the world of Liminal Sky continues to expand, bleakly, beautifully and lit by the faint glow that appears when all other lights have gone out.

1. Some Other Time

TROUBLES’ Debut Album “Red Alert” Is a Breathless Blast of Garage Punk

Troubles crash onto the scene with Red Alert, a debut that doesn’t waste a second. The album is a feral mix of grit, hooks and raw, emotionally charged vocals that plants the band firmly on the garage punk map.

Out now, the album is a relentless sprint. Most tracks clock in under two minutes, tearing past before you’ve caught your breath. The band only lets up on the final track — the record’s sole moment to stretch beyond the three-minute mark.

Already tipped as Radio Helsinki’s Musamusa Album of the Month ahead of release, Red Alert has also picked up airplay across Europe and the US with singles “Gimme Danger” and “Ghouls”.

Lyrically, the record cuts through the usual love-and-heartbreak tropes and digs into darker territory — life, death and everything in between — with a sharp, unapologetic punk edge.

Lyrically, the album moves through timeless themes like love, heartbreak, life and death — while its sharp sense of social commentary points to the band’s strong punk roots.

“‘Eve’ is a pretty clear feminist anthem, while ‘Promises’ deals with the sexual harassment and violence women face,” says vocalist-guitarist Ida-Lotta.

Recorded with producer Ville Valavuo, who also handled mixing and mastering, Red Alert captures the band at their most immediate and unfiltered. The DIY ethos runs deep, with the band also creating their own artwork.

“We sound exactly like ourselves on this record. It was great to hear that even the extra ideas we came up with in the rehearsal space, like piano parts, worked perfectly. Working with Ville was easy, he just got what we were after,” says bassist Laura.

Formed in 2023, Troubles are doing things their own way. The band have openly rejected Spotify, citing its monopoly and investment practices, making Red Alert available everywhere else instead.

“We know we could reach more listeners there, but sticking to our values matters more. We want to be part of a change for the better,” Ida-Lotta adds.

Troubles hit the road this spring and summer, celebrating the release at Helsinki’s Lepakkomies on May Eve with Rokets and Paha Lucia, before joining Australian outfit STERÖID for shows in Tampere and Helsinki later in May.
