ARTEMISIA return with “Frammenti d’Anedonia”, their new album released through Volcano Records & Promotion. The record is built around female figures suspended between myth, history, art and personal experience, connected by recurring themes of pain, resistance, transformation and freedom.
The release is accompanied by the video for “Luna Nera”, the third single taken from the album and a reinterpretation of Lilith as a symbol of female rebellion. “Frammenti d’Anedonia” moves through a wide range of images and characters: from the Frida Kahlo-inspired “Ciò che l’acqua mi ha dato” to Marina Abramović’s Rhythm 0, which provides the inspiration for “Rivelazione”, as well as the figure of the Accabadora, the exploration of neurodivergence in “Pensiero divergente”, and the ritualistic, transformative dimension of “Veleno”. At the heart of the new video is “Luna Nera”, a song dedicated to Lilith, portrayed by ArtemisiA as a rebellious and untameable figure who becomes an archetype of independence and the refusal of imposed roles. It is one of the tracks that best encapsulates the album’s concept: using myth and symbolism as a way to speak about the present.
Active since 2006, ArtemisiA have developed an identity shaped by dark atmospheres, literary imagery and a strong narrative dimension. With “Frammenti d’Anedonia”, they continue along that path with an album that places the female experience at the very heart of its songwriting.

Italian atmospheric black metal project MAREA has released “Aurora”, the first single taken from the forthcoming album “A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost”, due out on October 9th, 2026 through Hypnotic Dirge Records and Masked Dead Records.
One of the album’s more evocative moments, “Aurora” further reveals Matteo Balzarini‘s increasingly refined approach to songwriting, balancing the intensity of atmospheric black metal with delicate melodic passages and carefully controlled shifts in mood. The track unfolds gradually, allowing its melodies to emerge from the darker textures rather than relying on predictable contrasts, reinforcing the sense of melancholy and introspection that permeates the album.
Matteo Balzarini comments:
“This song is probably the heaviest and most aggressive I have done to date, while still maintaining the melancholic feeling that runs through the whole album. Conceptually, it’s about the initial hope and enthusiasm for new beginnings and their subsequent loss as you watch your dreams shatter. I used the metaphor of dawn to represent that fragile spark of hope and dusk as the inevitable crash, ending with a desperate need to start over.”
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Carlo Meroni at ADSR Decibel Studio, with cover artwork and visual design by Francesco Gemelli, the new full-length marks a significant step forward for the project led by mastermind Matteo Balzarini. Without abandoning the emotional core that has always defined MAREA, the album sharpens every aspect of its songwriting, resulting in a record that is simultaneously more incisive, more melodic and more refined than anything the band has released before.
Rooted in atmospheric black metal and post-depressive black metal, “A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost” refuses to remain confined within genre boundaries. Balzarini continuously shifts between textures and dynamics, allowing songs to unfold through subtle transformations rather than predictable contrasts. Instead of relying on the conventional loud-quiet formula, each composition develops organically, revealing unexpected turns while maintaining a remarkable sense of cohesion. Throughout the album, delicate melodic brushstrokes occasionally recall the melancholic elegance of fellow Italian visionaries Novembre, enriching an already expansive emotional palette.
The result is a work enveloped in an autumnal melancholy that permeates every note. Its atmosphere is fragile yet piercing, intimate yet expansive, balancing moments of despair with glimpses of fragile beauty. Every transition feels purposeful, every melody carefully placed, allowing the album to flow naturally from beginning to end without sacrificing intensity or emotional depth.
Lyrically, “A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost” explores isolation, remorse, regret, broken dreams and the fragile nature of human relationships. It reflects on how a single wrong choice or careless word can shatter a lifetime of trust, and how pride and selfishness often lead us to lose the people we love most. The album also delves into the feeling of being undeserving of happiness, portraying the self-destructive impulses that drive us to wound ourselves, and inevitably those who care about us.
While the sea served as the dominant symbol throughout MAREA‘s previous works, autumn now becomes the central metaphor. The imagery has changed, but the emotions remain deeply familiar: profound loneliness, nostalgia and melancholy continue to define the project’s artistic vision. Just as the music constantly balances darkness with light, desperation with solace, the album embraces this same duality within its lyrical concept.
Far from being an exercise in hopelessness, however, “A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost” ultimately offers a message of compassion. The title itself is conceived as an embrace extended to all those who feel lost: an invitation to recognize the quiet beauty hidden in everyday life, to cherish fleeting moments of happiness, to set suffering aside, even if only briefly, and to forgive ourselves for our failures. It is a raw confrontation with inner demons, an honest confession of fear and vulnerability, but also a resting place for our mistakes and the possibility of redemption beyond them.

Fleetwood Mac might have the reputation of a classic AOR band, but if you track back through their near-60 year career, there’s a wealth of songs that completely defy such one-dimensional branding. And the forthcoming tribute album Steel Rumours – The Songs Of Fleetwood Mac Reforged In Metal is replete with a dozen of them!
From their earliest years as a blues band, through the hard rock with which guitar legend Peter Green flirted in the early 1970, the underground sounds of the first half of that decade, and then the glorious pop-rock of the Buckingham-Nicks era, Fleetwood Mac remain impossible to accurately categorize.

Danish death/metallic hardcore practitioners LIFESICK today unleash their new stand alone single, “Hard To Kill,” a ceaselessly riotous auditory torrent that embodies the band’s celebrated ferocity.

LIFESICK was forged in 2014 by guitarists Nikolai Lund and Nicolai Lindegaard following the dissolution of their previous band, No Love. Created with a vision of delivering a more uncompromising and aggressive sound, the band quickly established itself within the Scandinavian hardcore scene.
