This second part delves deeper into their melancholic take on unraveling their innermost selves and adds a hopeful new layer to the wonderfully dark panorama that was opened up by OPVS NOIR Vol. 1.

Once again produced by frontman Chris Harms in the historic Chameleon Studios, it is yet another stirring example of the Hamburg-based band’s unparalleled versatility. Opening with dark yet catchy “The Fall From Grace”, LORD OF THE LOST immediately showcases their way with grand ballroom choruses weaved into grave melodies that will continue to sit enthroned on all the varied tracks until the last note of the ballad “Sharp Edges”.
 
Joining in are guests ranging from scene favorites to top-tier musicians outside the metal genre. First up is INFECTED RAIN’s Lena Scissorhands, who refines the pitch-black “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?” with the full range of her fierce, yet fragile vocals. Similarly, Anna Brunner of rising melodic metal stars LEAGUE OF DISTORTION and symphonic metal band EXIT EDEN lends her energetic voice to “Please Break The Silence”, inducing goosebumps – every talent is an important scene in OPVS NOIR’s grimly colorful movie for the ears. Unexpectedly, yet fittingly, Finnish rap artist KÄÄRIJÄ, runner-up at Eurovision 2023, turns “Raveyard” into a dancefloor with a mix of industrial, gothic, and Finnish rap—as if heralding the dawn of a new genre. The most moving collaboration is the opulent “What Have We Become”, in which experimental artist IAMX meets Chris Harms for a cathartic duet.

This Friday, August 22, Swiss heavy metal frontrunners BURNING WITCHES will celebrate the release of their much-awaited new studio album, entitled Inquisition, out via Napalm Records!

Now, the band drops their third single from Inquisition, “Soul Eater”. The all-woman act combines classic heavy metal elements with the energy and drive of ’80s thrash metal, as “Soul Eater” pounds the listener with unrelenting heavy metal power! Thrashing drums, aggressive riffs, and screeching vocals complement the memorable chorus within the track.

Just in time for their Summer Breeze Open Air show, KANONENFIEBER release the single “Z-Vor!” with a striking lyric video. The song opens the upcoming compilation “Soldatenschicksale” (“Soldiers’ Fates”), out 30 January 2026 via Century Media Records, which revisits battles of the First World War through the eyes of individual soldiers.

KANONENFIEBER, created by Noise in 2020, draws inspiration from his great-grandfather’s war diary, turning historical accounts into authentic, intense music. The band keeps members anonymous, paying tribute to all fallen soldiers.

In March 2026, KANONENFIEBER embark on the Soldatenschicksale Tour, featuring exhibitions and immersive historical experiences at shows.

LORNA SHORE Release New Single And Video ‘Prison Of Flesh’

LORNA SHORE release their new single “Prison Of Flesh” today. The track, featuring raw lyrics by vocalist Will Ramos about his family’s history with dementia, comes with a striking music video directed by David Brodsky.

The song is part of Lorna Shore’s upcoming album, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, out September 12 via Century Media Records—their first album in three years since Pain Remains (2022).

The band, including Adam De Micco, Austin Archey, Andrew O’Connor, and Michael Yager, will perform on their North American headline tour starting September 17, joined by The Black Dahlia Murder , Shadow Of Intent, and PeelingFlesh.

The album will be available in digital, CD, and limited-edition vinyl formats, with a new merch collection also available.

Just before the release of their new epic, Knightclub, FEUERSCHWANZ are headed to Middle-earth, with their new single, “Sam The Brave”. The track pays tribute to a silent hero: Samwise Gamgee, the loyal companion of ring bearer Frodo Baggins. Always in the shadow of J. R. R. Tolkien’s protagonist, FEUERSCHWANZ puts Sam in the spotlight, as an equally important piece of the puzzle on the journey of destroying the One Ring at Mount Doom. FEUERSCHWANZ envelopes the great story of the small hero in their usual gripping folk metal sound, carried by violins and flutes, fit for any Shire tavern.
 
FEUERSCHWANZ have undergone an impressive transformation in recent years, with 20 years as a band and two #1 albums on the official German album charts, they have reached triumphant highs, and are steadily climbing even higher.
