Indonesian DEVASTROSITY to Release Debut Album “Eviscerating Desolation” on October 24th

Emerging from the Indonesian brutal death metal underground, Devastrosity is a violent entity formed by members of established bands like Deserter, Gorification and Killharmonic. They have brought all their experience and diverse talents together with the mission of creating one of the most savage and devastating sounds in existence. The Devastrosity name was introduced to the world last year with a limited edition demo entitled Human Depravation, which sent shudders through the extreme metal scene…but that was just the beginning. Now the band are ready to unleash the full force of their debut album, the spine-splitting Eviscerating Desolation!

Having exploded into life with the warped and wicked ‘Human Depravation’ there is simply no let up in the onslaught of brutality from Eviscerating Desolation. ‘Sadistic Purge Of Society Manifest’ hunts down those decreed to die with merciless efficiency, with tidal waves of double bass insanity swallowing everything in its path. The gradual reduction in speed in ‘Devastate Atrocity’ drags you down deeper and deeper into a slurry of human remains before flaying you alive in a rabid detonation of violence. ‘Decay Collapse’ delivers a hail of machine gun fire through naked flesh, tearing bodies apart and reducing all to a ragged, disordered mess – an impossible puzzle of shredded body parts. From the eerie intro that begins this tour of hell to the lingering echoes of final, disembowelling track, ‘Cadaveric Feast’ Devastrosity remain ferocious to the last venomous beat. Built upon killer riffs, and shockingly intense drumming, Eviscerating Desolation is an unstoppable assault of terrifying bloodlust.

Meticulously mixed and mastered at Texas Sicklab Studio, Eviscerating Desolation possesses an unusual clarity and separation of sound. Without losing any of its skull shattering impact, each vicious element of this abhorrent arsenal can be heard, exposing the individual cruelties and imaginative acts of torture to disturbing effect. Out on October 24th on Comatose Music, complete with the insane artwork of Rudi GorgingSuicide (Avulsed, Devangelic, Gutrectomy etc), Eviscerating Desolation will tear its way into the rotten hearts of brutal death metal fans everywhere.

Italian modern metal act Secret Rule unveil their powerful new single “Silent Pain”, the third track taken from their upcoming tenth studio album “X“, due out on October 24th, 2025 via Rockshots Records.

Following the energetic “Just a Sacrifice” and the evocative “Echoes of the Earth”, “Silent Pain” dives into the emotional terrain of hidden suffering. With haunting melodies, cinematic arrangements and raw, confessional lyrics, the song captures the invisible battles we fight behind closed doors—where pain is masked by silence and strength is found in vulnerability.

“‘Silent Pain’ is a song I deeply connect with—it’s about giving a voice to emotions we often keep buried. Singing it felt like releasing something I had been holding in for years”, shares vocalist and lyricist Angela Di Vincenzo.

Musically, the track merges heavy grooves with fragile atmospheres, reflecting the duality of emotional turmoil and healing. Guitarist and producer Andy Menario explains:

“I wanted the guitars to echo the internal chaos and quiet desperation behind the lyrics—sometimes heavy, sometimes fragile, just like the human mind.”

As with the rest of the album, the song was entirely produced by the band. Angela Di Vincenzo penned the lyrics and vocal melodies while Andy Menario handled the arrangement, mixing and mastering at Digitall Studio. Drums were recorded at Alpha Music with Andrea Miazzetto delivering a tense yet fluid performance and Sofia Basili adding both depth and vocal harmonies on bass.

Secret Rule’s upcoming album “X” celebrates their tenth anniversary with a bold and contemporary sound, blending modern metal intensity, symphonic textures and electronic experimentation. The album explores themes of collapse, resistance and rebirth—“Silent Pain” stands as one of its most intimate and cathartic moments.

DEMIDEAD Unveil Striking New Visual Era + Working on New Album

Italian death metal outfit DEMIDEAD emerges from the shadows with a bold, ritualistic new look and the promise of their most intense album to date. Blending war paint, tribal symmetry, and dystopian textures, the band’s new visual identity marks a turning point in their evolution – and signals what fans can expect from their forthcoming record.

Captured in an abandoned, graffitied sanctuary of decay, the newly released photo features the four members standing defiant, covered in blood-red streaks, geometric armor, and primal face paint. This isn’t just a rebranding—it’s a transformation. Demidead have shed their skin, and what’s beneath is raw, chaotic, and unapologetically alive.

Known for their signature blend of death metal and theatrical aggression, Demidead are entering a new sonic phase—drawing from horror aesthetics, progressive riff structures, and a lyrical descent into inner sacrifice, rebirth, and resistance. Leaks that tells of a new upcoming work for the next year…

Fans can expect:

  • Ritualistic live shows inspired by the new visual identity
  • A series of music videos drenched in symbolic narrative and avant-garde visuals
  • The heaviest and most emotionally charged material of their discography

Stay tuned for updates, teasers, and behind-the-scenes footage as the band prepares to unleash this new chapter.

Post-Rock Trio BARRENS Reveal New Single ‘The Derelict’

Swedish post-rock trio BARRENS have released ‘The Derelict’, the fourth single from their forthcoming album Corpse Lights, out on 12th September via Pelagic Records.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/barrens

Corpse Lights is the name given to the folk belief that small coloured lights often appear near the home of someone about to die, leading them along the path to their eventual resting place. Often considered to be evidence of the soul leaving the body, the concept of corpse lights embodies BARRENS’ approach to creating music as a cathartic release; not just because they want to, but because they have to. Their writing process is one of joy, light, and release as much as it is dark, heavy, and tense.

Five years in the making, Corpse Lights sees BARRENS strike a breathtaking balance between light and dark; beauty and brutality; the calm and the chaos as the three fast friends refine their formidable command of composition and dynamic even further.

One listen to BARRENS and the revelation that Markku Hildén, Johan G. Winther and Kenta Jansson had already been playing and touring together before forming the band suddenly makes sense. In 2018 Markku joined Scraps of Tape, Johan and Kenta’s other project, as a live drummer for two tours of Europe and a tour of China. Recognising an immediate chemistry, the outlines for what would become BARRENS were sketched out in countless vans, trains, planes and bars as they travelled together across the world.

Back home, the trio wasted no time and quickly turned their collection of notes and motifs into demos; drawing unique inspiration from the experiences they shared as well as exploring new and unknown territories. The result was debut album Penumbra, a dense, elegant and passionate collection of instrumental, synth-driven post rock pieces that sounded in no way like the debut album from a brand new band.

Corpse Lights, BARRENS’ sophomore album, is somehow deeper, richer and headier; imbued with an alluring compositional patience that serves as unspoken testament to the combined creativity of the trio in their element, as something so much greater than the sum of its parts. Recorded and produced by Kristofer Jönson, who also helmed Penumbra, and mixed and mastered once again by Cult of Luna’s Magnus Lindberg, shimmering synthesizers and sprawling guitars lead the charge propelled by exhilarating drums and percussion but Corpse Lights also finds BARRENS using space, silence and atmosphere as another instrument if not as another band member entirely.

‘Corpse Lights’ is the name given to the folk belief that small coloured lights often appear near the home of someone about to die, leading them along the path to their eventual resting place. Often considered to be evidence of the soul leaving the body, the concept of corpse lights embodies BARRENS’ approach to creating music as a cathartic release; not just writing music because they want to but because they have to. Their writing process is one of joy, light and release as much as it is dark, heavy and tense.

In their time, BARRENS have supported the legendary Mogwai, God Is An Astronaut, signed with the famed Pelagic Records and opening ArcTanGent‘s main stage for the 2023 edition.

Corpse Lights tracklisting:

1. Memory Eraser
2. The Derelict
3. Sorrowed
4. Periastron

8. Remnants

Cleopatra Records Remembering TERRY REID

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 6, 2025

Cleopatra Records are saddened to learn of the death of Terry Reid, one of the greatest vocalists to emerge from the 1960s, and a great friend to the label as well.

While Terry is probably best remembered for the things that he didn’t do – join Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, for example, despite being invited – the career that he did follow featured highlights aplenty, and we were overjoyed when Terry joined the Cleopatra family, appearing on tributes to Pink Floyd, Badfinger, The Beatles and The Who, and sounding as phenomenal in his later years as he ever did in his youth.

One of the stars of the 1971 Glastonbury Fayre, Terry revisited those days for his final Cleopatra recording, duetting with fellow Glasto legend Melanie on a gorgeous, and heartfelt cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr Tambourine Man” for a single earlier this year.

“This was a great opportunity to look back and remember some really fun festival times,” said Terry at the time.  “And a special voice I always hear ringing across the meadows. Melanie has a very distinctive style you could love and recognize from miles away. One of a kind.”

So were you, Terry.  So were you.

With “Darkness Invisible” looming on the horizon (September 26, 2025 via PERCEPTION – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music), Finnish melodic death metal masters MORS PRINCIPIUM EST have unleashed the third single from their highly-anticipated new record. Along with the new track comes MPE’s first band performance music video since 2016’s ‘Reclaim The Sun,’ making their fans’ level of excitement going sky high.

The storyline follows a faceless, cape-wearing character on its way through a sinister landscape. Starting in the middle of the forest and concluding at the conjuring of an almighty monstrosity from the raging sea, the main protagonist’s path is scarred by multiple shuddering happenings: unknown people hung up and crucified, beings crawling on burning grounds, infested rotting carcasses, helpless humans caught in blood-soaked waters and a fallen angel mark the horrifying mission. Join the ritual of ‘Summoning The Dark’!

Jori Haukio (guitars/programming) states: “We’re returning with a haunting new visual for our new single ‘Summoning The Dark.’ Directed by JP Kaukonen and shot deep within the mystic and ancient woodlands of Finland, the video blends modern high-end production with a subtle fantasy-horror narrative. A dark, immersive journey to a summoning beyond the point of no return.”

About MORS PRINCIPIUM EST

Over the course of seven original studio albums, MORS PRICIPIUM EST refined their modern approach to melodic death metal again and again. Members came and gone, but their music remained untouched: razor-sharp riffing, sweeping orchestration, melancholic harmonies, and relentless rhythmic precision – topped by Ville Viljanen’s unmistakable vocals.

MORS PRINCIPIUM EST were founded in Pori in 1999 and are one of the longest serving Finnish melodic death metal bands. With frontman Viljanen being the most stable members, the present quintet survived several line-up changes before original members and guitarists Jori Haukio and Jarkko Kokko returned to MPE and already took part in recording their latest offering “Liberate The Unborn Inhumanity” [2022]. Also contributing to these refreshing re-recordings from their early years were former bassist Teemu Heinola and drummer Marko Tommila. A statement to honour the group’s history and to celebrate the freshly motivated line-up, which is now set to blast out their ninth album titled “Darkness Invisible” on September 26, 2025 through new label home PERCEPTION – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music.

MORS PRINCIPIUM EST are:
Ville Viljanen | vocals
Jori Haukio | guitars, programming
Jarkko Kokko | guitars
Teemu Heinola | bass
Marko Tommila | drums
