Swedish Jordfäst are back after some time with their latest opus, Blodsdåd och hor.
Today, the band presents a third taste of their upcoming album with their 3rd single, Ett Altare av skärvor pt.1
Jordfäst about the song -Ett altare av skärvor” (An altar of shards) combines fragments from Völuspá with imagery of violent manipulation and mental torture to explore the everlasting desire in humans to make sense of their existence.
Bloodshed and whoredom is the third installment in the Jordfäst saga and the darkest chapter thus far. Bellowed by the winds from the past, it is forged with steel and blood in a furnace built by Scandinavian rock. The lyrical themes and musical compositions bond together, forming a strong and durable alloy. Under the unyielding strokes of hammers, the characteristic Jordfäst soundscape has been hardened, and the melodies have been thoroughly honed by melancholia to deep-cutting perfection.
“Ett altare av skarvar” (An altar of shards) combines fragments from Völuspá with imagery of violent manipulation and mental torture to explore the everlasting desire in humans to make sense of their existence. “Dit gudarna trälar är” (Where the gods are thralls) journeys through centuries of Swedish history, shaped by the steel and iron industry and defined by relentless warfare.
Swedish hard rock act Symphony of Sweden are back with a soul-stirring new single, “Novel of the Past” out now on all major streaming platforms. A heartfelt ballad steeped in memory and longing, the song invites listeners to pause and reflect on the fleeting nature of life.
Frontman Linus “Lee” Wester envisioned the track as a kind of personal time capsule, a dreamlike recollection of a life lived to the fullest. “I saw myself as a very old man, sitting by a fireplace, dreaming of the life I lived: crazy parties, girls, money problems… everything,” he shares. “Hopefully I’ll get to live a full life and experience a lot. That’s what inspired the song.”
Produced by Pontus “Evan” Hagberg, “Novel of the Past” leans into a more intimate side of the band’s signature cinematic rock sound. Originally conceived as a stripped-down piano-and-vocal track, the song evolved organically during the recording process. “We wanted to keep it very minimalistic,”Evan explains, “but of course, we couldn’t resist adding layers along the way.”
One of those additions (e.g.: the haunting la-la vocal section) became a surprising emotional high point. “At first I was skeptical about including a wordless part like that,” admits Evan, “but Lee insisted, and it turned out to be the icing on the cake. It gives the track this nostalgic, almost uplifting vibe.”
The single is accompanied by a sepia-toned official video filmed in an old Swedish house once home to generations of artists. “It was a magical place to shoot in,” Evan says. “It tied beautifully into the song’s themes: fading memories, the passage of time, and the stories we leave behind.”
“Novel of the Past” marks a tender new chapter in Symphony of Sweden’s journey.
Whether it’s a turning point or simply a quiet breath between storms, this release showcases the band’s ever-evolving artistry. “That’s the beauty of music,” says Evan. “You never really know which song will take flight.”
Welcome to the musical world of Symphony Of Sweden!
Coming from the North of Sweden with winter and ice bears all over the place, the music is the other way around. Grand and epic with huge arrangements, the missing link between pop and metal – this is Symphony of Sweden! Add the powerful voice of Linus “Lee” Wester and the creative talent of Pontus “Evan” Hagberg you will have a concept that brings you on a journey from here to eternity.
Symphony Of Sweden is: Pontus „Evan” Hagberg Linus „Lee” Wester
Evan and Lee lived in the same small town up north in Sweden. Lee had his own little service point, betting shop, tobacco store nearby which also happened to be Evan’s local service point where he went to get his parcels. After saying hello to each other for a couple of years, there was one day Evan had a parcel to get – which obviously was music-related. They fell into conversation with each other, a few days later Evan invited Lee to his studio. Evan: „he had found one of my instrumental tracks on Youtube and sang it with a new melody on top and lyrics for me in the studio, right there when he just arrived! I was blown away, and a week later we had our first ever track produced and completed. As soon he sang his first two words in the studio I wanted to work with him!”
The band released their first album, Inner Demons in January 2021, and their second album, Saints Of Yesterday came out on the 3rd of February, 2022. The band’s latest material, Haunted was released on the 7th of February, 2024.
Australian groove Death metal force DISTORTA present their new striking video “When the War is Over”, that blends onstage power with offstage antics — the track is taken from their upcoming EP Deadman, set for release on 05 September 2025 via Wormholedeath.
The video offers a high-energy collage of live show footage, capturing the band in their element — onstage and fully unleashed — mixed with chaotic, candid clips of Dave and Chris letting loose, showing their lighter side through spontaneous dance moves and unfiltered fun.
Musically, the track was written with what they describe as “rare, almost effortless intensity.” The melodic guitars seemed to summon the lyrics, culminating in the haunting, anthemic chant: “When. The. War. Is. O-ver.”
Jim penned the chorus, with Dimmy shaping the rest into a powerful statement on resilience, identity, and conviction. It’s about fighting the battles that matter — because peace only comes once you’ve stood your ground.
“Deadman” EP
Recorded entirely in a home studio in Ballarat, Australia, Deadman reflects a spirit of full creative freedom and DIY determination.
DISTORTA are also stoked to announce the addition ofLiam Frost-Camilleri to the lineup. He steps in following the departure of Dom Davey due to health reasons. Known as a driving force in Victoria’s metal community, Frosty has been instrumental in organising major festivals like Beyond Black, which brings awareness to mental health through heavy music. With a deep well of experience as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for bands like Fall and Resist and Yeah Sick, Frosty brings a brutal edge to both guitar and vocals. When paired with lead vocalist Dmitry, the result is a sonic assault — tight, aggressive, and impossible to ignore.
A new and ominous chapter is set to unfold from the heart of Switzerland, as Black Metal quartet VÍGLJÓS are poised to release their second studio album “Tome II – ignis sacer” on September 19, 2025 via Les Acteurs de L’Ombre Productions.
Emerging from Basel in 2022, VÍGLJÓS (Old Norse for “the light which is just bright enough to be able to kill a man”) has since solidified its ranks into a potent four-piece, featuring members from both Germany and Switzerland. With their lineup now wielding guitar, drums, mellotron, and vocals, the band recently laid down their second album at Marc Obrist’s (Zeal & Ardor) Hutch Sounds in Oberwil, BL. Obrist’s meticulous work on recording, mixing, and mastering promises a production that will undoubtedly capture the band’s intense vision, complemented by striking artwork from Adrian Smith and layout by Luca Piazzalonga.
While VÍGLJÓS openly acknowledges the profound influence of Norwegian Second Wave Black Metal titans like Darkthrone and Immortal, their sound is far from a mere homage. They skillfully weave the raw, frigid essence of ’90s Black Metal with unexpected layers of synth, intricate tremolo picking, and even light infusions of rock’n’roll riffs and beats. These elements are all underpinned by hauntingly atmospheric mellotron tracks, adding a unique depth to their dark canvas. For those who’ve experienced VÍGLJÓS live, the word is out: expect an “auditive, visual and olfactory experience” that lingers long after the final note.

Thematically, “Tome II – ignis sacer” delves deep into the phenomenon of ergotism – the voluntary or involuntary poisoning by ingesting the claviceps fungus that grows on wheat. This ancient affliction, which fueled historical phases of civil unrest, witch crazes, and societal meltdowns when climate favored its growth on essential food sources, is a central inspiration.
The band states, “On this new record, we want to honor the impact that Claviceps (and later LSD) and drugs in general had and still have on art, music, society, our self-image and medicine, as well as the terror and depravity they brought upon us.“
“Tome II – ignis sacer” will be coming out on September 19 via Les Acteurs de L’Ombre Productions in CD/LP and DIGITAL formatsand is now available for pre-order atTHIS LOCATION

“Tanzerloch” marks the long-awaited return of Balt Hüttar, folk metal guardians of the ancient Cimbrian heritage from the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni (Italy). As the first single and title track of their upcoming album (due out September 12th), “Tanzerloch” offers a dramatic entry point into a record that blends myth, memory, and metal with bold sonic vision.
With this new track, Balt Hüttar reaffirms their distinctive identity—one rooted in the rediscovery and celebration of the endangered Cimbrian language and culture, interwoven with the energy and force of modern folk metal. Inspired by a local legend from the Roana area, “Tanzerloch” tells the story of a man who disappears into a mysterious sinkhole during a witches’ sabbath, encountering a world of spirits, shadows, and ancient forces. Sung in Italian and Cimbro – a rare medieval Germanic language still spoken in some mountain communities of Northern Italy – the lyrics evoke both the mysticism of the tale and the tension between nature and the supernatural.
Musically, “Tanzerloch” is one of the band’s most ambitious and immersive pieces to date. Its seven-minute runtime unfolds in dynamic movements, opening with somber melodic lines and building toward a powerful climax filled with layered instrumentation and ritualistic cadence. The arrangement includes flutes, tagelharpa, accordion, Irish bouzouki, and bodhrán, seamlessly blending with distorted guitars, tribal drums, and the dual vocal approach that alternates between storytelling clarity and feral intensity. The track conjures a trance-like state that mirrors the mythical dance within the narrative, transporting the listener into a liminal space between reality and folklore.
The song was composed by all five members of the band, reflecting the group’s multifaceted musical background, and the lyrics have been drawn directly from oral Cimbrian traditions that have survived centuries of cultural erosion.
The upcoming full-length album “Tanzerloch” will further explore the myths, historical traumas, and cultural identity of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni through eleven tracks that blend metal’s aggression with poetic reflection and folk memory. Produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Christian Zecchin—who also shares artistic direction with the band—the album is visually enriched by the illustrations of Fabio Porfidia.
Balt Hüttar have long stood out for their strong conceptual approach and live intensity, sharing the stage with bands such as Elvenking, Folkstone, Rotting Christ, Skyclad, and Waylander. With “Tanzerloch”, they take a bold step forward, offering a haunting and deeply rooted vision of folk metal where myth, language, and sound converge in a ritual of memory and resistance.
Recommended for fans of Korpiklaani, Eluveitie, and Folkstone, Balt Hüttar’s music is more than just entertainment—it’s cultural preservation through distortion, rhythm, and ancestral echoes.
