Currently on tour across Europe (see below for dates), Pittsburgh deathcore titans Signs of the Swarm have released a new single/video today, titled “Scars Upon Scars” — taken from the band’s upcoming sixth full-length, To Rid Myself of Truth, which is due to be released August 22nd via Century Media Records. Stream the track now here; watch the video below.

“‘Scars Upon Scars’ is about my struggles with addiction,” reveals vocalist David Simonich. “I tried to make it accessible for anyone who is dealing with addiction: showcasing the depriving lows of withdrawal and highlighting the hunger that is never satiated. I hope someone can take this piece I’ve given of myself and feel less alone.

“With such direct lyrics, I approached my vocals with influences from hardcore bands I like, such as Jesus Piece, Backtrack and Desolated.”

Pre-order To Rid Myself of Truth in various formats now via: https://SignsOfTheSwarm.lnk.to/ToRidMyselfOfTruth-AlbumPR. The previously released singles can also be heard below:
–“Clouded Retinas” (feat. Will Ramos): https://youtu.be/8s7rlin0ejM
–“HELLMUSTFEARME”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLD1_WdmxtI

Reunited with producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, Varials, King 810), Signs Of The Swarm continues molting their slamming deathcore exoskeleton, revealing a band now as indebted to Meshuggah, Gojira and Fear Factory as any of the deathcore bands they grew up on—now peers. After writing breakout 5th LP Amongst the Low & Empty (2023) almost entirely in-studio, the group geared up to do it again on To Rid Myself of Truth. This stint’s 7-week lead time—PLUS the in-studio time—was a veritable vacation for the band, with the addition of guitarist/backing vocalist Carl Schulz adding a whole other set of riffing hands (and vocal chords) to the band. It was plenty of time for the now-quartet, rounded out by bassist Michael Cassese, to craft metal exactly as they think it should sound: MORE. PISSED. And it is. Musically the album’s edges are far more serrated than their last’s flirtations with djenty bounce. Read the full bio for To Rid Myself of Truth here.

HEAVEN SHALL BURN Celebrate Release of New Album with Epic Video for ‘War Is The Father Of All’

To celebrate the release of new album “Heimat”, HEAVEN SHALL BURN released the epic yet bleak video for “War Is The Father Of All” including the intro “Ad Arma”. The elaborate shoot was produced by Mirko Witzki. With the video, the band returns to an end-time (home) location that some fans will remember:

The world is in turmoil, and HEAVEN SHALL BURN dive straight into the heart of today’s storms with righteous fury and unrelenting energy. “Ad Arma” means “To arms.” The band’s weapons, however, remain unchanged: words, riffs, and heavy metal. One example is “War Is The Father Of All,” an epic anthem inspired by the war in Ukraine. It features a choir arranged by conductor Wilhelm Keitel and composed of Ukrainian musicians.

The theme runs throughout the album. The phrase comes from the Greek philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus, who said over 2,500 years ago: “War is the father of all things and the king of all.” Tragically, that idea is experiencing a troubling renaissance today. “I grew up behind the Iron Curtain in East Germany,” says guitarist Maik Weichert. “For those of us who value peace, it’s a hard truth that the Cold War—with its arms race and nuclear deterrents—may have preserved peace more effectively than any international treaties. ‘If you hit me, I hit back harder’—that seems to resonate more with human nature than the wish for peace on Earth. It’s a bitter pill to swallow.”

Three orchestral pieces frame this philosophical exploration of war. The opener “Ad Arma” is followed mid-album by “Imminence,” which acts as a divider between the A- and B-sides of Heimat, before “Inter Arma” closes the record. Once again, the strings are laced with melancholy. Metaphorically, the war is over, gunpowder still clouds the air, and the battlefield is littered with the fallen. Where Ad Arma means “To arms,” Inter Arma—“In times of war”—describes war as a constant in human history.

“For us, though, those titles are meant to metaphorically arm our listeners with thoughts,” Weichert explains. The idea is to help people see war for what it truly is: destruction unleashed by despots, with no real winners. War is uncontrollable by nature—and will always end up consuming even those who think they command it. “But we also wanted to explore the ambiguities in how war is understood philosophically,” Weichert adds. “To put it simply: that billion-dollar arms companies are getting rich again, because at this stage in human development, militarization seems to be the only way left to maintain peace.”

Artwork by Eliran Kantor

“Heimat” = German for “home / homeland / native land” – a term that merely refers to a relationship between people and spaces but has nevertheless always been highly emotionally charged. Often misused, it sometimes causes discomfort, lively discussions and battles over interpretation. Maik Weichert (guitar) comments: “’Heimat’ is not meant as the narrow-minded end point in the sense it has been used by agitators and populists, but the starting point for observations and perspectives. The album is about a much wider sense of the term ‘Heimat’: the homelands for many different people and also about the spiritual home, something that shapes and determines our thoughts and actions.”

HEAVEN SHALL BURN took their time with the follow-up to “Of Truth And Sacrifice”, which reached number 1 in the Official German Album Charts in 2020. “Heimat” was produced at the band’s own studio, The Dude Ranch, which is run by guitarist Alexander Dietz. Like in the past, Danish producer Tue Madsen took care of the mixing and mastering.

The Thuringians enlisted the renowned artist Eliran Kantor for the artwork, who previously crafted the artwork for “Of Truth And Sacrifice”. The centrepiece of the impressive triptych is a rearing stag – in its roaring variant a classic motif of wildlife painting, the epitome of kitsch and trivial art from the 19th and 20th centuries and interpreted by some as a symbol of patriarchy and capitalist competition, but here placed as a vital allegory of resistance amid an apocalyptic scene. He is flanked by a hunting lynx and a watchful owl, which complete the highly symbolic artwork concept as further elements of the triptych. As with “Of Truth And Sacrifice”, HEAVEN SHALL BURN worked together with composer, producer and director Sven Helbig and conductor Wilhelm Keitel, this time supported by the Mondëna Quartet and the Ukrainian Sophia Chamber Choir.

The track listing of ”Heimat“ reads as follows:

  1. Ad Arma
  2. War Is The Father Of All
  3. My Revocation Of Compliance
  4. Confounder
  5. Empowerment
  6. A Whisper From Above
  7. Imminence
  8. Those Left Behind
  9. Ten Days In May
  10. Numbered Days (feat. Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage)
  11. Dora
  12. A Silent Guard
  13. Inter Arma

“Keinen Schritt zurück“-EP

  1. Keinen Schritt zurück (feat. Donots)
  2. Schweineherbst (feat. Dÿse)
  3. Eisenkopf
  4. Destroy Fascism

LOVE IS NOISE Release Two Brand-New Tracks ‘Hole In Me’ + ‘All Eyes Shut’ & Debuts New Line-Up

After receiving incredible reviews across the board for their debut album “To live in a different way”, released in February 2025, via Century Media Records, UK force Love Is Noise has returned with new music much earlier than maybe expected from fans. With “Hole In Me” and “All Eyes Shut”, the band is releasing two brand-new songs back to back while also delivering an energetic music video for lead track “Hole In Me”.

Stream “Hole In Me” & “All Eyes Shut”

Alongside the release of the new singles “Hole In Me” and “All Eyes Shut”, the band is not just presenting their maybe strongest music video yet, but also their brand-new band line-up. Sam Clark (Bass), Alex Ioannou (Guitar), and Joe Pink (Drums) have officially joined Cameron Humphrey (Vocals), which further marks the new chapter for the quintet.

Cam shares about the new line-up:

“It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome Sam, Joe and Alex into the fold. They’ve been touring with Love Is Noise over the past year and the chemistry we had between us all was unmatched. This made the decision to offer them full time roles very easy. We’re brothers and I can’t wait to tour the world over and over with them”

He adds about the new singles:

“Hole In Me begins a new chapter in the life of Love Is Noise. 1 becomes 4. This song is heartbreak at its finest, accompanied by the heaviest instrumentation from ourselves to date. This is the future! On the other hand, All Eyes Shut, alongside a guitar solo from our friend Erik, leans more into our alternative rock influences. This song sounds like if Everlong era Foo Fighters was created today. To us, this is a perfect combo and a great addition alongside Hole In Me.”

Love Is Noise began its journey in 2021 as a collaboration between Humphrey and former guitarist Tom Mellon (who recently left the band to explore other musical endeavours) balancing the ethereal and intense. While sonic signposts include modern-day shoegaze as well as the likes of Glassjaw and Deftones, the band’s 2022 EP, Euphoria, Where Were You? (released on FEVER 333 frontman Jason Aalon Butler’s 333 WRECKORDS CREW) pointed towards a soul-crushing sonic heartache all their own.

A string of singles led to the band inking with Century Media and beginning work on their debut album. Love Is Noise released the first taste of new music with the acclaimed singles “Soft Glow” and “Jawbreaker” “To live in a different way”, “take.one.minute”, and “It Hurts To Know You’re There”, which appeared on numerous playlists across the streaming platforms and were featured on BBC Radio One, Kerrang! Radio and Total Rock. The band’s Century Media debut, ‘To live in a different way’, straddles the roughshod riffing and volume of their DIY origins while embracing shoegaze-facing melodiousness, hints of Brit-pop, and a beating (and bleeding) heart erupting from Cam Humphrey’s plaintive vocals. Co-produced by the band with engineer Kel Pinchin and mixed by John Markson (Drug Church, Drain, The Story So Far), ‘To live in a different way’ is a startling debut album.

The debut album “To live in a different way” can be ordered HERE.

With “Hole In Me” and “All Eyes Shut”, Live is Noise is introducing three new band members with Sam Clark (Bass), Alex Ioannou (Guitar), and Joe Pink (Drums) joining the band.

Sam Clark – Bass

Dumb Moon is an artistic world that engages the senses and shapes emotions. The Dumb Moon band presents a unique combination of gothic/art rock with elements of metal, which takes listeners on an emotional journey through the labyrinths of feelings.

“… As the sun bids farewell to the long day, the Silent Moon casts a shadow…“

They create music full of emotions, in which lyrical lyrics often refer to personal experiences, searching for meaning and reflection on everyday life. They are a band that consistently develops their sound, not afraid to experiment and seek new inspirations.

Their concerts are characterized by energy and authenticity but also peace, attracting both young music enthusiasts and mature listeners who appreciate interesting compositions. They released a mini-album “Cztery Damy” (2024), and not so long ago the newest release “Szepty Mroku” EP saw the light of day, which was met with positive reviews, and the compositions were broadcast on radio stations.

The recording, mixing and mastering process of the EP “Szepty Mroku” is the responsibility of the duo Dominik Wawak and Piotr Stopka, and the whole was carried out in dmb Recording Studio in Bielsko – Biała, where albums by bands such as Planet Hell and Redemptor were created. The cover was authored by Magdalena Morkisz.

This is how band comments their newest release: “Szepty Mroku is the second mini-album and the second chapter in the life of Dumb Moon. It is more conscious and developed than the first EP – “Cztery Damy”. We stuck to the assumptions of our project. Our bassist at the time, Dariusz, perfectly fit into the aesthetics of our music. Each of the tracks is unique and brings different experiences. Paweł left a musical memento in the form of drum recordings“.

DEPHOSPHORUS Stream Title Track of Upcoming Album “Planetoktonos”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on July 1, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: DEPHOSPHORUS. Leave a comment

The title track from DEPHOSPHORUS‘ upcoming fifth album, “Planetoktonos”, is now streaming in exclusive premiere at Mystification Zine.

A harrowing centerpiece, “Planetoktonos” encapsulates the band’s unique blend of cosmic grindcore and existential vision, channeling both blistering aggression and expansive depth. Lyrically inspired by the The Expanse book series and the concept of planetary annihilation, the track marks a defining moment in the band’s evolution, where intensity, intellect and innovation collide.

Stream “Planetoktonos” HERE.

“Planetoktonos” will be released on July 18th, 2025. The LP edition will be co-released by 7Degrees Records and Nerve Altar, while Selfmadegod Records will handle the CD version.

DEPHOSPHORUS aims to expand listeners’ consciousness, fostering a vision of a sustainable future where humanity not only survives but thrives in harmony with its biosphere – and even with AI. Much like the anarchic utopia imagined by Iain M. Banks in The Culture books, this future is one where technology and humanity coexist symbiotically.

Their latest effort, “Planetoktonos”, is the band’s fifth full-length release, a ferocious collection of 9 cosmic, menacing tracks that pay tribute to the energy and dynamics of trailblazing acts such as Anodyne, Nasum, Playing Enemy, Breach, Knut, Leviathan and Bolt Thrower.

“Planetoktonos” – a Greek word coined by the band, roughly translating to “Planetkiller”- brings DEPHOSPHORUS closer than ever to their ideal sound. Mindfully forged in the positive atmosphere of Ignite Studio, a rising cornerstone of the local underground scene (home to acts like Antimob, Embrace Of Thorns and Chain Cult), the album was mastered by sonic guru James Plotkin (OLD, Khanate), ensuring every detail hits with impact.

Psychedelic layers are woven into the album’s fabric thanks to electronics mastermind Miltos Schimatariotis, a long- term collaborator and unofficial fifth member of the band. Schimatariotis, owner of Northside Studio, has been instrumental in shaping previous releases such as “Night Sky Transform”, “Ravenous Solemnit” and their collaboration LP with Haapoja.

As always, DEPHOSPHORUS explores science fiction and cosmology through an existential and political lens in both the lyrics and aesthetics of “Planetoktonos”. Several tracks, along with the album’s title and artwork – designed by Graphic No Jutsu (see Planet Of Zeus, Nightrage, etc.) – are inspired by The Expanse novel series by James S.A. Corey, a near-future universe where humanity has colonized the Solar System but faces the unknown consequences of encountering alien intelligence and technology. Other tracks delve into reflections on cosmologic and existential themes, spanning Dyson spheres and the persistence of life to the toxicity of defeatism and the looming threats of rogue AI or superintelligence.

“Planetoktonos” delivers a boundary-pushing sonic journey, sparking the imagination and inviting listeners to explore new dimensions of thought and sound.

Tracklist:

01. Living in a Metastable Universe
02. Hunting for Dyson Spheres
03. Pale Veins
04. After the Holocaust
05. The Triumph of Science and Reason
06. The Kinetics of a Superintelligence Explosion
07. Planetoktonos
08. Calculating Infinity
09. Eternal Bloom

On Sunday 27th July, DEPHOSPHORUS will be returning to Greece’s New Long Fest after 11 years, having played their first concert there in 2014. More info at: https://fb.me/e/izItlYxty

Line-up:

Thanos Mantas – guitars/e-bow/chants
Panos Agoros – vocals
John Votsis – drums
Kostas Ragiadakos – bass
