Even before they officially arrived with their critically-acclaimed debut in 2023, TEMIC had already made a name for themselves in the prog space. The band features current and former members of Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress, Neal Morse Band, Haken, SHINING and Maraton. With Terror Management Theory, they lived up to their billing as a supergroup. The album topped the charts in the Netherlands, reached #15 on the iTunes Worldwide Metal chart and was named one of the year’s best albums by The Prog Report, The Progressive Subway and other publications.

Now, as they prepare to announce their thunderous and grief-stricken follow-up, TEMIC are releasing a new video for “Paradigm”. Recorded live at Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer, Netherlands during the band’s 2025 European co-headline tour, this setlist highlight displays the full range of their prog-metal star power.

“‘Paradigm’ is one of those songs that poured out in a single writing session”, TEMIC guitarist and vocalist Eric Gillette says. “I had this concept for someone traveling vast distances through space. They’re slowly trapped inside a kind of cryosleep, only for it to transform into their version of paradise. The song came together in a way that felt really natural. It’s one of my favorite songs to play live, especially with the vocal interplay with Fredrik. ‘Paradigm’ is always a powerful moment in our set”.

The video for “Paradigm (Live at the Boerderij 2025)” was directed by John Vis and Geert Jan Schoonbeek and produced by Miguel Pereira.

“Paradigm” thrusts Gillette into the spotlight. Following his stellar guitar opening, the Neal Morse Band member takes the lead with cleans that shine brighter than the North Star. “It feels like I’ve lost my mind”. While the song’s narrator searches for meaning amidst the great unknown, much like the natural order of the universe, the stars of TEMIC are fully aligned. Diego Tejeida stuns with cosmic swirling keys. Drummer Simen Sandnes and bassist Miguel Pereira collide into a meteoric groove. When main vocalist Frederik Bergersen Klemp and Gilette hit full throttle during the final chorus, the packed house at the Boerderij is transported to paradise.

Introducing TEMIC—prog’s newest, most ambitious, and most adrenaline-fueled act. TEMIC melds the creative minds of keyboardist and sound designer Diego Tejeida (Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress, ex-Haken), guitarist Eric Gillette (The Neal Morse Band, Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress), drummer Simen Sandnes (SHINING, Arkentype), bassist Miguel Pereira and vocalist Fredrik Klemp (Maraton, 22).

The origins of TEMIC date back to 2017, when Tejeida and Gillette toured the world as band members of Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress. From the very first chords they exchanged, their musical chemistry both on and off stage was undeniable, leading them to discuss the prospect of starting a new band together. Unfortunately, conflicting tour and recording commitments forced them to turn their attention elsewhere for years—that is, until the world came to a standstill in 2020, and Tejeida called Gillette to ask a fateful question:
“Remember how we said we should make music together? Well, how about now?”

Thus, the first demos for what would later become TEMIC’s 2023 debut album, Terror Management Theory, began to emerge. Within a few weeks after that initial phone call, the musical vision of TEMIC had become clear: Let’s create progressive music that is heavily influenced by high-energy electronic music, but arranged and orchestrated for a 5-piece modern prog rock/metal band—where, at last, the pulse can be the focus, and the vocal melody can be king.

Eager to join forces with the very best bandmates, Tejeida and Gillette first summoned the rhythmic power of their friend and drummer Sandnes. With characteristic enthusiasm, Sandnes seized the opportunity, prepared to contribute his percussive prowess as the heartbeat of TEMIC. When it came time to find the singer that would carry TEMIC’s melodies to new heights, Sandnes recommended vocal powerhouse Klemp, whose emotive delivery and unmatched intensity left no doubt that he was destined to be the voice of TEMIC. Finally, to round out the rhythm section of Terror Management Theory, dynamic bassist Jacob Umansky (Intervals) was invited on board as a guest player, gracing the album with an unrivaled groove and a signature low-end sound.

Together, this mammoth lineup is TEMIC, a high-energy, electronic-inspired, modern melodic prog metal band for the next generation.

Jazz-Metal Giant MICHAEL MANRING (And Friends!) Deliver Title Track ‘Subtext’ of Upcoming Instrumental Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 19, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Michael Manring. Leave a comment

MICHAEL MANRING, one of the most versatile and vibrant bass players on the modern scene, follows up his acclaimed 2022 album Small Moments with the all new, mostly instrumental Subtext – and today, its majestic title track spins off as a single, a brief but so alluring taste of the magic to come.

SINGLE: https://orcd.co/michaelmanring_subtext

Manring’s musical background should need little introduction.  As an in-house musician for new age label Windham Hill, he appeared on many of that label’s most acclaimed releases – Bass Player magazine readers voted him Bassist of the Year in 1994.

He teamed up with Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Tim Alexander (Primus) in Attention Deficit – whose own career will be coming under the Cleopatra microscope later this year. Later, in the 1990s, he was a member of the acclaimed Seattle-based band Sadhappy.

For Subtext, too, he is joined by a remarkably gifted coterie of guests… and friends!  Craig Ochikubo handles keyboard and synthesizers; Al Garcia takes care of electric guitars; and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Garcia is responsible for (deep breath) drumset, cajon, marimba, North Indian tabla, South Indian kanjira, caxixi, Mesoamerican clay ehecatls, double and triple Mesoamerican chambered flutes, gongs, temple bowls and voice.

“It was Chris Garcia, says Michael, who “really made this album happen. Chris is a drummer and percussionist I’ve played with for about 20 years in several projects. When folks would chat with us after shows in various parts of the world, he often heard people ask me about an instrumental rock album I did in 1994 called Thonk.  It was a bit of a departure for me as I had been working mostly in the New Age and singer-songwriter worlds in those days, but it seems to have developed a bit of a cult following over the years.

“Chris suggested we try something similar with some of his friends from the LA area. Since Thonk was a solo album, I pretty much called the shots for it, but I wanted to do things a bit differently this time and Subtext is a collaborative effort. I’m grateful for everyone’s input and it was a lot of fun sharing ideas.”

He acknowledges that there are similarities between the two albums, but also the two albums he recorded with Attention Deficit. But he adds, too, his work with Sadhappy, “and a recent project called Dystopia with fellow bassists Stuart Hamm and Alberto Rigoni. At this point I’ve done quite a few projects in the instrumental rock world.”

That said, Subtext itself is one of the most eclectic, yet dynamic releases of the year so far, a vivid collection of eight originals, topped off by a remarkable cover of Michael Hedges’ “Watching My Life Go By,” the title track from the so-called “heavy-mental” guitarist’s 1985 solo album.

“I’ve never been too concerned about genres. It seems to me there’s interesting music in every category, and for me it’s always been about content rather than the box something fits in. Although I was trained as a jazz musician, I’ve found myself working kind of all over the map — New Age, avant-garde, fusion, progressive, folk, etc. I enjoy it all and working in these various styles inspires me, but it can be confusing for listeners!

“Although an album like this is far from pop music, I hope fans of deep listening will enjoy it. I gave a lot of thought to the compositional structures and there are a fair number of ‘Easter eggs’ for folks to discover if they’re open to it.”

CRIMSON GLORY recently released their brand new album “Chasing The Hydra”, the first new album in over 26 years. For fans who demand the highest quality audio for their music, CHASING THE HYDRA is now available as a 24 bit hi res audio download on Bandcamp at https://bravewordsrecords.bandcamp.com

Crimson Glory shared their thoughts on the response to the new album, “Greetings to Crimson Glory fans around the world, whom we affectionately refer to as, ‘The Crimson Militia.’ Right now we’d like to take a second to say just how floored we are at the reactions to our brand new record, Chasing the Hydra, our first in 2.5 decades. It should be known that one of the goals in making our comeback album was to bridge the gap, so-to-speak, between both our debut and the followup, Transcendence, and our new record. We’ve learned throughout the years that albums 1 & 2 were the top picks according to you guys, the fans. For this reason, along with a simmering yearning to go back to our roots, it was important for us to accomplish that goal. Just sayin’, we are honored by all the very positive feedback, which of course will drive us to bring it even harder live! We will see YOU on tour! \m/“

“Chasing The Hydra” is currently charting at #3 on Sentinel Daily’s Top 30 Album Chart.

GODTHRYMM Unleash New Video/Single ‘Jewels’ from Forthcoming Album

UK doom metal heavyweights GODTHRYMM unveil “Jewels”, the latest single and video taken from their forthcoming third full-length album “Projections”, set for release on May 29 via Profound Lore Records. Following the previously revealed tracks “Truth In My Own” and “The Sun Never Fell”, “Jewels” once again demonstrates the band’s mastery of crushing melancholy, towering riffs, and emotionally charged atmosphere, merging heaviness with haunting melodic depth.

Stream the single HERE

With “Projections”, GODTHRYMM bring to a close a journey that began with their 2020 debut “Reflections” and continued with 2023’s critically acclaimed “Distortions”. In the years since “Reflections”, the band have steadily built a reputation as one of the most notable emerging acts from the UK’s doom scene, often recognized for channeling the spirit of early-to-mid ‘90s British doom metal – a sound closely associated with genre pioneers such as My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Anathema.

Considering GODTHRYMM was formed and is helmed by UK doom metal veteran Hamish Glencross (formerly of My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, and Solstice) and features drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (formerly of My Dying Bride, Anathema, and Solstice), that classic UK doom metal DNA is already deeply embedded in the band’s sonic fabric.

This is clearly reflected on “Projections”, which is far from a nostalgic exercise, instead expanding further on the foundations laid by “Distortions”. With its expanded lineup, the album sees GODTHRYMM pushing their sound into new levels of depth, complexity, and dynamic range, while still retaining the colossal, emotionally charged heaviness that has defined the band’s identity since its inception. The result is a work that expands their sound further in both scope and cohesion – arguably their most layered, varied, complex, and aggressive release to date.

Tracklist:
01. Trenches Deep
02. Truth In My Own
03. The Sun Never Fell
04. Endure My Skin (feat. Aaron Stainthorpe)
05. Jewels
06. Hope Is Eternal

“Projections” was recorded at various stages throughout the last year at different studios with Andy Hawkins and Glencross at the helm. Cover art was done by Mitchell Nolte.

The album drops May 29 on Profound Lore Records and is available for pre-order HERE

To celebrate the release, GODTHRYMM’s album launch show will take place on June 6 at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds in partnership with Crash Records. Tickets are on sale now HERE.

Live:
06/06/26 Leeds (UK) – Brudenell Social Club (Album Release Show)

GODTHRYMM are:
Hamish Glencross – Guitar & vocals
Shaun Taylor-Steels – Drums
Bob Crolla – Bass

BONFEST
Bonfest 2026 brought Kirriemuir alive for a milestone weekend celebrating both Bon’s 80th birthday as well as the 20th anniversary of the festival. What began as a tribute, run by local children’s music charity DD8 Music, has grown into an international gathering, but the heart of the festival remains exactly where it should be: Bon’s hometown, the fans who keep his music loud, and a community honoring a legacy that still travels a long way.

From May 1 to 3, fans travelled from across Scotland, across Europe, and around the world to celebrate one of rock and roll’s most beloved frontmen. Across the town, Kirriemuir fully embraced the weekend. Local shops decorated their window displays, stages filled with music, pipe bands brought the streets to life, and generations of fans came together to celebrate not just what Bon did, but what he still means to people.

That hometown spirit was especially present at the Official Bon Scott Pop-Up, presented by the Bon Scott Estate, inside the original Scott family bakery in Kirriemuir. Set within a space rich in history, the pop-up became one of the weekend’s most meaningful stops, bringing fans into a place tied directly to Bon’s early life.

One of the weekend’s defining moments came during the “It’s a Long Way to the Top” procession, a Bonfest tradition that pays homage to AC/DC’s original 1976 video. In that now-iconic clip, Bon and the band performed on the back of a flatbed truck rolling through Melbourne, with bagpipes giving the song its unmistakable character. In Kirriemuir, the tribute took on a hometown life of its own. As the truck passed the Official Bon Scott Pop-Up, an especially meaningful moment unfolded when Bon’s friend Gabby joined the procession. Having been there with Bon in Melbourne for the original “Long Way to theTop” moment, her presence in Kirriemuir all these years later gave the tribute an emotional full-circle quality. It connected Melbourne to Kirriemuir, past to present, and the original spirit of the song to the generations still carrying it forward.

The statue remained one of the weekend’s central gathering points, drawing fans for photos, tributes, and quiet moments throughout the festival. Alongside the memorial plaque first laid in Bon’s honor, it helps tell the larger story of how Bonfest grew from a local act of remembrance into a global celebration.

For everyone who came to Kirriemuir this year, the message was clear. Bon Scott brings people together, and in his hometown, that connection feels stronger than ever.

AC/DC PWR UP TOUR
AC/DC’s 2026 North American PWR UP Tour kicks off just two days after Bon Scott’s 80th birthday, beginning on July 11 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The timing creates a natural opportunity to connect Bon’s milestone year with the continued excitement around AC/DC, giving fans another way to celebrate his lasting impact as the tour rolls across North America.

HISTORY
Ronald Belford “Bon” Scott was born in Forfar, Scotland on July 9, 1946. He spent his childhood in nearby Kirriemuir, Scotland where the Scott family had a bakery, until 1952 when the family emigrated to Australia. Bon’s earliest music experience was in the Fremantle Pipe Band, playing the drums. In primary school he adopted the nickname “Bon” as a reference to Bonnie Scotland, and also because there was another Ronald in the class. His first band The Spektors, later The Valentines, played mostly popular cover songs of the day with Bon sharing vocal duties with Vince Lovegrove. After The Valentines disbanded, Bon joined Fraternity, a progressive-rock band that won Go-Set magazine’s “Next Big Band” award, appeared on national TV and toured the UK, eventually sharing a1973 bill with Geordie, featuring Brian Johnson.

After leaving Fraternity and suffering some personal setbacks, Bon was hired as the singer in up-and-coming Sydney band AC/DC. He immediately injected the swagger, voice and lyrics that the band was searching for and history was made over the course of six years and six studio albums (1974-1979). On February 19, 1980, Bon was found dead in a car outside of his home in London.

In 2003, he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of AC/DC and in 2004 Classic Rock magazine named Bon the number one front man of all time, beating out fellow luminaries like Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger and Robert Plant. Several landmarks have been established in the 21st century to honor Bon’s music and legacy, including statues in Kirriemuir, Scotland and Fremantle, Western Australia, that are natural gathering spots for fans to pay their respects.

MAN LOOKING MAN Release New Single & Video “Zegepraal” + Announce Self Titled Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 19, 2026
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: MAN LOOKING MAN. Leave a comment

Berlin based post hardcore force Man Looking Man unveil their new single and official video “Zegepraal”, available now.

The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming self titled debut album, set for release on June 12th in CD and digital formats via Octopus Rising (Argonauta Records).

“Zegepraal” showcases the band’s uncompromising intensity, merging raw emotional impact with dense arrangements and a sense of urgency that reflects the core identity of Man Looking Man’s sound. It offers a further glimpse into an album shaped by years of creative struggle, resilience, and artistic determination.

The album took form over a five year period marked by uncertainty, with the project facing three major setbacks that nearly led to its dissolution. Instead, this long and demanding process ultimately forged the band’s most definitive statement to date.

Lyrically, it reflects Carlo Poy’s background in language studies and his approach to blending art and political reflection through a symbolic lens. Across its six tracks, the record explores the deep crisis of contemporary society, the human condition within it, and the struggle to maintain hope in moments of darkness. Rather than focusing on individual alienation alone, the album seeks to transcend it, reintroducing ideas of community and shared vision within the genre’s emotional landscape.

From a production standpoint, the album was entirely self produced in a fully DIY environment. Recording, mixing, and sound design all took place at Maurizio Bergmann’s Rooftop Studios, where the band spent extensive time refining tones, experimenting with textures, and shaping the final sonic identity of each track. This unrestricted approach allowed Man Looking Man to fully define their sound without external constraints.

Tracklist:
Symbols of Loss – 6:10
Zegepraal – 3:21
369 – 7:03
Samsara – 5:02
Glide and Turn – 6:53
Poslushayte! – 4:06

With “Zegepraal” and the announcement of their debut album, Man Looking Man continue to establish themselves as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary post hardcore.
