MÅNEGARM have announced their much-awaited new studio album, entitled Edsvuren, to be released on August 29, 2025 via Napalm Records! A music video for the band’s first hauntingly powerful single “Hör mitt kall”, is now premiering below.

“2025 marks the 30-year anniversary for Månegarm as a band and what better way to celebrate than to release a brand new album!” The trio states. “”Edsvuren” (Sworn) is our 12th studio album and it showcases every corner of the Månegarm music spectrum. After months of hard work we are so ready to release this beauty!”

Known for weaving Norse mythology, ancient rites, and folkloric wisdom into an unrelenting metal tapestry, MÅNEGARM once again summons the spirits of the past with a song that echoes through the halls of the dead – a desperate summoning of ancestral voices buried in root and soil. Listen to “Hör mitt kall” now on all digital streaming services!

MÅNEGARM comment: “”Hör mitt kall” is our first single from the new album. It’s heavy, it’s raw and it’s inspired by all the great heavy metal bands that made us fall in love with this kind of music! So get on board or move out of the way, this train won’t stop!”

The Swedish Viking metal pioneers celebrate their 30-year career with the release of their most evocative album to date. As one of the leading bands in the genre, they once again bring their inimitable style and the blood oath of viking, black and folk metal back together for an unforgettable and diverse sonic journey. Pensive and dreamy atmospheric monsters meet songs for a proper mead binge – this mixture has brought the band a loyal international fan base and highly acclaimed appearances at prestigious festivals such as Ragnarök and Summer Breeze Open Air.

On their forthcoming studio offering Edsvuren, MÅNEGARM take the oath with traditional Nordic instruments, thus providing necessary authenticity. Guest vocalists Ellinor Videfors and Lea Grawsiö Lindström, who have also supported the band on previous albums, once again provide the perfect contrast between harshness and beauty. On title track “Edsvuren”, singer Liv Hope Lenard joins the wolf pack for the first time and provides one of the album’s most breathtaking highlights. On violin, the acoustic master Martin Björklund is back again, especially shining on pieces like “Rodhins hav”. Edsvuren was recorded and mixed by Pelle Saether at Studio Underground, and was mastered by Sverker Widgren at Wing Studios. The epic cover artwork was created by Kris Verwimp.

Melding raw aggression, ancient beauty and hypnotic black metal influences, Norse mythology, rites and folkloric wisdom in a relentless frenzy of orchestral finesse – on the battlefield of Viking Metal, only Swedish legends MÅNEGARM can emerge victorious with their thunderous anthems. With over 30 years of battle-tested heritage, MÅNEGARM continue to assert themselves as torchbearers of the genre with Edsvuren!

Almost 50 Years On, EATER Still Ain’t Wasting Time

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 29, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: EATER. Leave a comment

Back in the day, EATER were one of the most notorious bands on the UK punk scene.  Yes, there was that business with the pig’s head, and some tasty quotes about one thing or another.  But what really got the country’s notoriously killjoy tabloid press seething was their 13 year old drummer, Dee Generate.

Shouldn’t he have been in school?

Eater burned bright but too briefly.  With frontman (and best-selling author!) Andy Blade an infinitely better songwriter than the music press of the day gave him credit for; and his bandmates better musicians and performers as well, Eater’s debut single, “Outside View,” was one of the very first singles to truly capture the teenaged venom that was punk’s true meaning… as opposed to the majority of their old folk contemporaries  (“heavens, he’s almost 25!”) having early mid-life crises.

They followed through with “Thinking of the USA,” an album sensibly titled The Album, a killer live EP called Get Your YoYos Out (geddit?)… and that was more or less it.  1977 became 1978, Dee Generate left the headlines (and then left the band), the tabloids found other things to get their knickers in a twist about, and the punk scene, as Blade put it, had not only become “saturated,” it had also mutated into ‘New Wave’/’Power Pop’.”

Eater, Blade continues, “was no exception.” But they did not go quietly.

“After the media had taken ownership of the punk scene we had created, a lot of the instigators wanted to distance themselves from it. Reflecting this new mood, Eater’s bassist Ian Woodcock and I started work on a bunch of tracks for our second album with new guitarist Gary Steadman and drummer Phil Rowland.”

Recording backing tracks in their rehearsal space in Fulham, west London, the band was in the studio until more or less the end. And yes, while the decades since that time have seen a lot of Eater odds and ends make it out, Wasting Time – The Lost 1978 Sessions really does pinpoint precisely what we lost when the band folded.

Resplendent on orange 12-inch vinyl, four songs surface, with the previously unreleased title cut making such a classic Eater noise that the intervening years simply fall away.  Following that, alternate versions of three further cuts, the band’s final single “What She Wants She Needs” among them, add further fuel to the fiery insistence that this would have been an amazing album.

None of the songs were completed at the time – nothing more than bass, drums, a basic guide guitar from Steadman and a rudimentary pilot vocal. But, says Blade;

“They still sounded great . I immediately recognised Ian’s distinctive bass line that opens ‘Wasting Time,’ the first time I’d heard the song since demoing it, with it having never been released in any form.

“A version of another more obscure later song, ‘Typewriter Babies’ was also on the tape, along with ‘Point Of View,’ a mooted single that never was. Then there’s the rough and ready demo version of ‘What She Wants’ (for me, a superior take than the tamer  single version).

“The tracks sound vital and fresh – but they needed finishing.  So in 2024 I decided to do just that by adding guitar & some extra vocals.”

Nothing obtrusive, though; nothing that will set the old bullshit detector beeping wildly.  Blade describes them as sounding “as exciting and in your face as ever today, which is always the main thing for me.”  In other words, this is Eater at their frenzied finest, and you won’t be wasting time when you play it.  Haha.

Shredd & Ragan Present The Great North American Rush Off to Honor Neil Peart

Buffalo’s #1 morning show, 97 Rock’s Shredd & Ragan, is excited to announce The Great North American Rush Off—a heartfelt tribute to one of rock’s greatest legends, Neil Peart, the iconic drummer of Canada’s #1 band, Rush. This project aims to honor Peart’s legacy while raising funds for The Neil Peart Memorial at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie, St. Catharines, his hometown.

In 2020, the St. Catharines City Council, with overwhelming community support, voted to name the newly rebuilt pavilion at Lakeside Park after Neil Peart. However, the vision for this memorial extends beyond the pavilion. Plans are in place to erect two larger-than-life bronze sculptures of Neil Peart, connected by a pathway featuring experiential and interpretive elements that celebrate his personal and professional legacies, including his time with Rush.

**Join Us in Celebrating Neil Peart’s Legacy!**

The Great North American Rush Off is designed to spark conversations about the urgent need to raise funds —$500,000— to kickstart the construction of The Neil Peart Memorial. Unfortunately, momentum has slowed since the project’s announcement prior to the pandemic. But fear not—Shredd & Ragan are here to help reignite the passion!

“Rush means so much to music fans in the Buffalo area, so we wanted to find a way to help fans give back,” remarked Shredd & Ragan. “When we tell them about the Neil Peart Memorial, they can’t wait to help.”

**A Call For Covers**

Shredd & Ragan are calling on bands—both local and national—to submit their Rush cover songs. These tracks will be featured in a curated digital and physical compilation, with all proceeds benefiting The Neil Peart Memorial.

“This will be a fitting tribute to Neil and a spectacular monument where fans can gather and share their memories,” said David DeRocco of the Neil Peart Memorial Committee. “I’m looking forward to hearing the tributes being created through The Great North American Rush Off, and even more excited to be moving this project forward to completion.”

**The Goal**

By launching this project, Shredd & Ragan’s goal is to create awareness for the various sponsorship packages available to help raise the necessary funds. Individual Rush fans can purchase $500 CAD “Wood Level Sponsorship” packages which includes a personalized message of up to 250 characters displayed at the park. If all of the packages are sold, the park will raise the necessary funds to fully complete the project.

“When we started digging into the idea of raising money for the park, it became apparent that our mission is to help raise awareness that this park exists and needs to be funded,” explains MX2 Media’s Michael Parrish. “If our efforts spread the word to the legion of Rush fans around the world, I have no doubt they will rise up and help turn this  park from a concept to reality.”

The Great North American Rush Off is just getting started and will expand as word spreads. A charity concert is also being planned in Buffalo featuring some of the bands that submitted songs, along with a charity auction of high-value items donated to help raise funds.

Together, we can turn this vision into reality. Stay tuned for updates and get involved today!

Peace & Love!
Shredd & Ragan

NEAPOLITAN to Release New Single ‘Running Away’ on June 6th

Texas-based alt-rock outfit Neapolitan is set to continue their momentum in 2025 with the release of their brand-new single, ‘Running Away,‘ arriving June 6 via Golden Robot Records.

Following the emotional depth of their previous release, ‘Sell Yourself,’ Neapolitan returns with a track that channels raw vulnerability through urgent melodies and a gripping vocal performance. ‘Running Away’ explores the all-too-familiar desire to escape – from expectations, from the past, and from the version of ourselves we no longer recognize.

Built on a foundation of soaring guitars and anthemic hooks, ‘Running Away‘ captures the intensity of emotional flight while still grounding itself in themes of reflection and growth. It’s a song for anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed, yet found a strange comfort in the chaos.

With each release, Neapolitan continues to assert themselves as a rising force in the modern alternative landscape – unafraid to tackle complex emotions with honesty and sonic power.

HIROE Unveil New Single ‘Collider’ from Upcoming Debut Album

Hiroe, the new darlings of the American post-rock underground, have revealed their latest single ‘Collider’. The track is taken from their forthcoming debut album, Wield, due 20th June via Pelagic Records.

Pre-order Wield here: https://orcd.co/hiroe

Hiroe‘s guitarist Eric Kusanagi comments: “‘Collider’ is a song that when we play live seems to be a crowd favourite.  It’s the longest song in our catalogue, at about 10 minutes long, and we wanted to take the listener on a journey that goes through a lot of peaks and valleys.”

‘Collider’ is a 10-minute epic. It presents listeners with a sonic journey into the heart of modern existence. The track reflects life’s often opposing and overwhelming demands. The song embodies a musical representation of contradictory elements. It captures the challenge of balancing life’s competing priorities. The track evokes the moment when all facets of life come to a head. This creates a profound convergence. Just as its title ‘Collider’ implies.

2022 saw Hiroe burst onto the scene with an explosive debut EP full of soaring anthems and sublime soundscapes. Combining the sonic expansiveness of Deftones with the dynamic heaviness of bands like Isis and Caspian, Hiroe immediately already figured out how to make the most majestic sounding post-rock early in their career. “Our first album, Wrought was a statement of creation,” explains principal songwriter Eric Kusanagi (guitars).

For the recording of Wield, Jill Paslier moved from bass to guitars, with Brian Kong (guitars), Jon Seiler (bass) and Dan Sagherian (drums) joining to complete the lineup. Produced once more by Mario Quintero (Spotlights) Wield capitalises on everything the band learned in the creation of its predecessor, adding to it a new focus on textural intricacies and compositional detail.

“We wanted to show a larger range of musical themes on this record,” continues Eric. “You’ll hear us dive into some synth work, some piano work, some really interesting effects that Mario helped us dial up.” Wield as a result packs in a huge range of details, which reveal themselves over repeated listens.

Nevertheless, Wield is still an affair of instant gratification for fans of guitar driven post-rock. From the soaring leads of ‘Tides’ to the epic finale of ‘I’ve Been Waiting For You All My Life’, Hiroe show they’ve upped their game in every department, but especially that which tugs at your heartstrings.

Wield presents the brave new future we all need in these confusing times. A new American frontier on which we can build our wildest dreams and our most daring ambitions.

DORO to Release LEMMY Tribute Album in September 2025 w/ Alternate Takes & Mixes, Possibly on Jack & Cola vinyl

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 29, 2025
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Doro Pesch, The Metal Voice. Leave a comment

Doro Pesch recently spoke to The Metal Voice about her upcoming Doro cruise, Lemmy tribute album, new dong Warriors of the sea and a new fossil named Ophiopetagno Doro, after her.

When asked about the Lemmy Tribute album
‘I want to do something for Lemmy because it would be his anniversary and it’s called ‘Rock to Death’ and that will come out in September (2025). I want to put on the album with all our duets. We did a couple of duets like ‘Love Me Forever’ a Motörhead Classic and ‘Alone Again’. Also some Motörhead covers like ‘Ace of Spades’ of course and ‘Rock and roll’. So I’m just in the middle of putting that together, in memory of Lemmy

When asked if there are unreleased songs
‘Actually all these versions, they are different versions than you could find on the records ,(alternate takes and mixes). It was funny, I went to the studio and I was checking out all kinds of bags when I’m doing a production I always have like big bags with like CDs and stuff. And back in the day cassettes. It was so funny underneath my bed there was a bag. And I didn’t even think of it I didn’t open it for a long time and that day before I went to the studio and I opened that bag and there were all these CDs and all our mixes like the two duets I did with Lemmy, in LA actually. Bob Kulick he was recording everything it was his studio and I found all these unreleased tracks. So this record will have a lot of unreleased mixes and tracks and um stuff you already know but it’s different versions. Alternate takes, alternate mixes because when we did our first duets ‘Love Me Forever’ and ‘Alone Again’ man I think we had 10 mixes and we couldn’t decide which one was the best. I want to put out a vinyl and maybe CD but definitely this vinyl and then a um a liquid filled vinyl with you know with Lemmys favorite drinks whiskey and cola so it will be probably Jack Daniel’s cola in a liquid filled vinyl. We are just uh checking it out how we can do it and I think there’s a way we found a company. So that’s something really special so you know and you can actually put a little hole in it and then check it out it’s definitely Jack Daniel’s and cola. ‘

As posted on Doro’s social media

‘New song dropped today! ‘Warriors Of The Sea’ is out now! Check it out! ‘Warriors Of The Sea’ is an anthem for all you pirates, at sea and on land, wherever you like to rock out. A song for all the metal cruises and summer festivals. The live premiere is on my Doro Metal Queen Metal Cruises on the Rhine on May 31st and June 1st. There are still a few tickets left for June 1st! Don’t miss this! Get your tickets here: https://bit.ly/4mrLBLE Listen to ‘Warriors Of The Sea’ on your favorite streaming platform’
