Coming off two red-hot #1 rock tracks—“Holy Water” (feat Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch) and “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills)”—THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT (@tfp_devotion) yesterday (August 22) released to radio the “Dark Thoughts” single from their smash GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY album. Described by frontman Lee Jennings as “a finger snapping anthemic banger,” the mental health-themed song also appears on the newly released four-track DARK THOUGHTS EP along with a version of the song featuring vocals by Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, a new remix of the song, and a live performance of it from the band’s Atlanta, GA hometown of Atlanta alongside the original version.

“We wanted to put together something special and different that we haven’t done for the Coffin Crew [the band’s devoted following],” explains singer Lee Jennings. “The other cool thing about this EP is that we are including the live version that we recorded at our first-ever town hall meeting in Atlanta. This marked our first sold-out show in our hometown.”
About the song itself, Jennings explains that “‘Dark Thoughts’ is a fun and energetic song meant to highlight our own mental health struggles. I wrote it about being diagnosed with OCD, I’m glad that more people can relate. This song is one of my personal favorites on the album. It’s deeply rooted in feeling trapped in your own head, like you have no one to reach out to who would understand or have an answer. It’s a statement both about the band and our fans. Depression, anxiety, and mental health crisis events are a ubiquitous experience for us, and the people who connect with our art. It can be such a terrifying and daunting task to try to overcome, but we hope that by connecting with others, we can support each other as a community in times when things seem the most bleak.”

GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY – FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS: DELUXE EDITION was released June 13 via Better Noise Music, with digital, CD, and vinyl copies available HERE. It contains 24 songs including tracks from the CASSANOVA EP and the FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS EP, as well as “Holy Water” feat. Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch, “Hearse for Two” feat. Lilith Czar and three brand new songs: “Skinny Lies,” “Evergreen,” and “Lost Boy.” The vinyl and CD two-disc deluxe packages feature 21 tracks, one of which is exclusive to the physical formats (“Friends Like These”).
The album that was originally released September 13, 2024 via Better Noise Music consists of 14 tracks of theatrical, dramatic, unapologetic, full-throated flair with guest appearances from Bert McCracken of The Used, Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and Amanda Lyberg of Eva Under Fire.

The campaign for THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT began in August 2022, almost three years ago, with the release of “Voodoo Doll” when they were an opening band in 300-400 person venues (or smaller). Now they’re drawing the biggest crowds at the major festivals, touring all year with bands like Ice Nine Kills, and gearing up for a European tour this fall.
After wrapping up a slew of appearances at summer festivals including Warped Tour and Rock Fest, THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s on-going tour schedule isn’t slowing down anytime soon. They’ve been invited to be a part of the “ICE NINE KILLS: HELL OF A SUMMER TOUR” along with Dayseeker, Kim Dracula, and Mest, which is currently underway. The Live Nation-produced tour is bringing the bands to arenas and amphitheaters across the country. Tickets are available via Ice Nine Kills’ website. Once that tour wraps, they’ll stay on the road as part of In This Moment’s “Black Mass Tour” with Dayseeker and DED, which kicks off September 18. Tickets are available via In This Moment’s website. In the midst of all those tours, they’ll make more appearances at Rocklahoma on August 31 and at Louder Than Life on November 20, followed by another Warped Tour show on November 15 in Orlando, FL. Later this year, they’ll take off for Europe for a three-week trek with The Rasmus.
