Masters of Glacial Post-Metal HARMS Premiere New Single ‘A Lifetime Spent On Dying’

Finnish post-metal outfit HARMS have unveiled their new single “A Lifetime Spent On Dying”, offering another glimpse into the bleak and immersive soundscape of their upcoming second full-length, “Rebirth Of The Cold”, due out on May 8th, 2026 via Time To Kill Records.

With this new track, the band further refines its cold and oppressive approach, balancing crushing heaviness with a haunting melodic undercurrent that gives the song both emotional depth and physical impact.

Stream “A Lifetime Spent On Dying”:

The band commented:

“A Lifetime Spent on Dying” drags one across the threshold from waning light to shadowed stillness. Seasons change, old emptiness remains.

With “Rebirth of the Cold”, HARMS move deeper into darkness: heavier, more melodic, and more aggressive than before. The music feels colder and more intense, built around tension and collapse, where moments of bleak beauty are sharpened and the weight of the band’s sound hits harder than ever. At times, their approach can be seen as an ingenious fusion of post-metal expansiveness, blackened contours and a fierce metallic hardcore edge, shaping a sound that is both emotionally immersive and physically punishing. Lyrically, the album continues their exploration of meaninglessness, emptiness, and decay, colored by reflections on time, space, and mortality: a meditation in grief, stripped of comfort and illusion, searching for what remains when nothing holds meaning.

Tracklist:

01.Endlessness
02.Serpentine calling
03.True night falls
04.Flowerless grave
05.A lifetime spent on dying
06.Rupture
07.Essence of sorrow
08.Apollonia
09.Cold aeon of time
10.Reprise

Formed in 2017 in Lappeenranta, Finland, HARMS have forged a distinctive identity rooted in crushing heaviness, atmospheric darkness, and raw emotional intensity. Drawing inspiration from the endless cold and shadow of the north, the five-piece crafts sonic landscapes that shift between overwhelming force and desolate, melodic beauty.

Their debut album, “A Lifetime Spent on Dying” (2021), was met with strong critical acclaim, earning praise from Finnish media as “one of the strongest domestic metal albums of the year” (Kaaoszine) and for its “dark, crushing and impressively multifaceted take on modern metal” (Imperiumi).

With Time To Kill Records now backing their next chapter, HARMS are poised to push their sound further into inevitable ruin, delivering their most immersive and uncompromising work to date with “Rebirth of the Cold”.

German heavy rock outfit MIDNIGHT RIDER announce the release of their third studio album “Limited Infinity”, set to be released on May 22nd, 2026 via Massacre Records.

The album will be available as Digipak CD, limited vinyl LP and digital formats, continuing the band’s dedication to classic heavy rock inspired by the late ‘70s era, channeling influences such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest while maintaining their own distinctive identity.

To mark the beginning of this new chapter, MIDNIGHT RIDER unveil the first single and lyric video “The Renegade”.

STREAM THE SONG HERE: https://save-it.cc/massacre/the-renegade

With “The Renegade”, the band present a powerful and memorable track built around a strikingly simple yet effective riff – a spontaneous idea born during a studio soundcheck that evolved into one of the album’s standout moments.

Lyrically, the song addresses what it still means to be a woman in the metal scene, highlighting the challenges of going against the mainstream and carving out an authentic path in a traditionally male-dominated environment.

Serving as a first taste of “Limited Infinity”, the track encapsulates the band’s approach: classic heavy rock energy, strong songwriting and a timeless sound enriched by a fresh and powerful production.

On “Limited Infinity”, MIDNIGHT RIDER further refine their sound while staying true to their roots. The album introduces notable lineup updates, including Chris Black (High Spirits) on vocals, whose distinctive voice and layered choir arrangements bring a new dimension to the band’s sonic identity, alongside new members Hendrik (drums) and Nik (bass).

Produced and mixed by Christian Benner and Ralf Grett, and mastered by Patrick Engel at Temple of Disharmony Studio, the album combines an authentic retro feel with a modern production approach, capturing the spirit of classic heavy rock in a contemporary context.

With “Limited Infinity”, MIDNIGHT RIDER deliver a passionate and uncompromising homage to classic heavy rock, reinterpreted with their own character and attitude.

Black metal -band MOURNIATY, hailing from Kouvola, Finland, releases their first music video on Wednesday 25th of March. Kyynelten Virta (Stream of Tears) captures the cold essence of song exceptionally. Reading the lyrics one realizes that there has never been a better time to light some crosses on fire. The atmosphere is completed by the Art Center Antares’ amphitheater and its cold stone walls.

The video was recorded during a cold February winter night and it was filmed & directed by Janne Hietanen of Saasta. The only true way to capture the essence of Mourniaty was to use black and white. The band is a three-piece on the video after guitarist Liekkiö was downed by the cold winter sickness of Finland.

Kyynelten Virta is from Mourniaty’s debut album Musta maa, released via Inverse Records in November of 2025, available at mourniaty.com

Mixed by Karulainen & Joona Rinne / Deep Noise Studios
Mastered by Saku Moilanen / Deep Noise Studios
Album cover by Karulainen

When you get fed up with Christianity and Paganism starts to arouse your interest, interesting things are often created. Sometimes this process needs an accelerant, which is exactly what happened when Karulainen and Metällinen found themselves to be merged in the same family tree. Now, what else would fresh, Finnish relatives do but make aggressive noises together? This gave an outlet for the music Karulainen had already been writing.

Finnish Mourniaty began its life as a smoldering project already in 2015. It burst into raging fire five years later, when situations in life permitted concentrating on music full-time. When bass player Tenho joined the group in 2022, Mourniaty finally became a real band instead of two men with backing tracks.

Karulainen describes Mourniaty’s music as black metal, which combines mid-tempo grooves and even symphonic arrangements combined with lyrics sung in both Finnish and English, which revolve around themes of Paganism and Anti-Christianity. The debut album, “Musta maa” (Black Earth), was released thru Inverse records on digital platforms and in cd-format in November of 2025. What a perfect soundtrack for the darkest season of the year.

Line-up:
Metällinen – drums
Tenho – bass
Liekkiö – guitar
Karulainen – vocals & guitar

Swedish melodic metal force PRIME CREATION have unveiled a brand new lyric video for their first single, “Galactic Rebirth”, taken from their upcoming studio album “Souls Of The Fallen”, set for release on June 26, 2026 via ROAR – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music. Pre-orders have just started at: https://primecreation.rpm.link/soulsPR

With “Galactic Rebirth,” the band delivers a powerful first glimpse into the album’s cinematic and emotionally charged direction, combining soaring melodies with relentless heaviness. The track dives deep into themes of cosmic conflict and existential struggle, as the band unveils:

“The song is about a cosmic war fought at the edge of extinction, where a dying sun and endless darkness set the stage for a final stand. It follows celestial warriors bound together by fate, legend, and shared sacrifice as they face overwhelming odds. Themes of fear, pain, and loss run through the battle, but so does defiance and unity. Overall, it’s about rising together to confront annihilation and leaving a mark through courage, even if victory comes at a cost.”

Formed in Sweden in 2015, PRIME CREATION quickly established themselves as a driving force in modern melodic heavy metal. Following their self-titled debut in 2016 and the critically acclaimed “Tears Of Rage” (2019), the band continued to evolve, culminating in “Tell Freedom I Said Hello” (2023), which gained strong international attention. Known for their dynamic live presence, PRIME CREATION have toured across Europe and shared stages with acts like Masterplan and appeared at festivals alongside Europe and W.A.S.P.

With “Souls Of The Fallen”, produced by Niels Nielsen (Ghost, In Flames), the band take another decisive step forward, pushing their sound into darker, more progressive territory while staying true to their melodic roots.

PAUL GILBERT Celebrates the 35th Anniversary of “Tribute to Jimi Hendrix” with Re-Issue, Out June 12th

Paul Gilbert will re-release his 1991 album Tribute to Jimi Hendrix on 12 June via Music Theories Recordings to celebrate its 35th Anniversary, marking the album’s first official digital release.

Listen to the first track, Purple Haze.

It’s the album that almost never was, or never should have been. Picture the scene, it’s 2 June 1991 and Paul Gilbert was invited to the Frankfurt Jazz Festival in Germany to trade a few solos with Albert Collins, who was headlining the festival.

At the time Gilbert was riding high with Mr Big and Lean Into It had not long been released. “I was already in Europe, finishing up a Mr. Big tour, so the travel would be easy. I said, “Yes!,” Gilbert says.

However, shortly after arriving at the venue, Gilbert learned that Collins had suffered a sudden health issue and would be unable to perform.

“The promoter was panicking and asked me to be the headlining act instead,” Gilbert says. “I didn’t have a band with me. And I didn’t have any solo material prepared.”

The promoter quickly assembled a backing band using the bassist and drummer from Ten Years After, the group led by Alvin Lee, who were also appearing at the festival.

It was only hours before showtime. “The only thing I could think to do was to quickly rehearse some Jimi Hendrix songs, and make the solos long enough to fill up a whole set. I told the promoter, “We only have time to learn 5 songs, so I’m going to have to play REALLY LONG SOLOS.” The promoter said, “It’s a jazz festival! That will be great!”

So the band and Paul jumped into rehearsal, and a couple hours later, did the show with scorching renditions of ‘Red House.’ ‘Hey Joe,’ ‘Highway Chile,’ ‘Midnight’ and ‘Purple Haze’ – “It turned out great,” he says. “I don’t think I’ve ever played such long solos in my life!”

Talking about the spontaneity of the situation he says, “The panic that comes from just trying to SURVIVE an unexpected musical situation can bring things out of a musician that would never happen if everything was rehearsed and planned out. As AI figures out how to make perfect productions, it might be a human being’s reaction to unexpected twists and turns that are the most interesting to listen to. At the same time, I do like to have some rehearsal with my band before a tour if I can get it!”

“Around that time, I also had a cover band called, “The Electric Fence” with my friends Jeff Martin and Russ Parrish. When I would get home between Mr. Big tours, Jeff, Russ and I would make a list of 25 songs and challenge ourselves to see if we could learn them in a week. Then we’d do a gig. Most of the songs were Hendrix, Beatles, David Bowie, etc. and I did quite a bit of the lead singing. So hopping up on stage with little preparation was something I was used to and enjoyed a lot!!”

Discussing Hendrix’s enduring influence, Gilbert adds: “Jimi’s songs are such great vehicles for jamming. His writing invites musicians to play with each other and listen to each other. The songs are flexible enough to allow musicians to keep their own style and still make the song work.”

Despite initially feeling worried that a Tribute To Jimi Hendrix  feels like an important mission that should take lots of time to prepare and produce, Gilbert now believes the spontaneity of the performance captured the spirit of Hendrix more authentically.

“In the end, the pressure of pulling everything together quickly in front of an audience—and being worry-free about endless guitar jamming—may actually have brought me closer to Hendrix’s spirit than if I had planned everything while sitting in a chair,” he says.

Tribute To Jimi Hendrix will be available on 12 June.

Track listing
1. Red House
2. Hey Joe
3. Highway Chile
4. Midnight
5. Purple Haze
