Finnish progressive death metal band Sargassus is set to release their debut album ‘Vitruvian Rays’, out in June 13th 2025 via Inverse Records. The second single ‘The Lone Idunn Grows in Shade’ is out now with a lyric video.
‘The Lone Idunn Grows in Shade’ is one of the earliest songs written for the upcoming album. It displays the meditative side of Sargassus’ music, with droning riffs and repetitive motifs with an underlying sense of angst and unease. The song deals with themes of change, rationality and spiritual growth amidst life-changing revelations.
The song’s lyrics tell a story of a priest finding a religion outside of his own faith. While confronting this new, opposing yet strangely similar worldview, he remains unmoved, but his rationality ends up poisoning his faith, leaving him spiraling. The song is a critique of those individuals who turn to wrath in the face of opposition rather than examining their own shortcomings.
Composed by Teemu Leskinen, Matias Rokio & Matias Stenman

The Band Comments: “‘The Lone Idunn Grows in Shade’ is one of those songs that underwent barely any changes since its inception. We are very pleased with the song, as it has it all: dissonance, atmosphere and aggression, all being carried by a dynamic flow throughout the song. Halfway to the song, there’s also Rokio’s brainchild for all the prog fans out there. This one’s bound to be one of Sargassus’ most impactful live songs!”
The band also released an official DRUM playthrough video of their first single Spirit of Gravity. “Let us introduce to you: not gravity blast but “spirit of gravity”-blast! Real take with real audio, of course. The drum playthrough filmed, edited and mixed by Joona Muistola at HAW Studios.”
Matthew Kiichi Heafy, mastermind and frontman of the metal band Trivium (who are currently on their North American Tour with Bullet for My Valentine), unleashed an original 30-minute soundtrack for the crowd-funded slasher comic series True Believers, co-written by New York Times bestselling Bram Stoker Award-winner Stephen Graham Jones (The Only Good Indians, My Heart is a Chainsaw) and Denver Post bestselling writer Joshua Viola (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, It Came from the Multiplex), with interior artwork by Ben Matsuya. The blood-soaked series features official cameos from horror and pop culture icons like Jamie Lee Curtis, R. L. Stine, Devon Sawa, GWAR, Matthew Kiichi Heafy, and more.
True Believers goes beyond the page, offering fans unique merch like latex masks, prop weapons, and soundtrack editions on vinyl, CD, and cassette, creating an immersive horror experience like no other. The score is available for pre-order from FiXT in partnership with Bit Bot Media, the new multi-media company from Klayton and Josh Viola. The full soundtrack was released on April 24, 2025.
This beast of a score slams together Heafy’s skull-crushing guitar riffs and pummeling intensity with spine-chilling, synth-drenched vibes that scream John Carpenter’s horror legacy, where Halloween meets a mosh pit. This isn’t just a soundtrack, it’s a sonic bloodbath that proves Heafy’s a genre-smashing titan, fusing metal’s raw fury with the twisted pulse of graphic storytelling.
The soundtrack’s centerpiece, “Too Far Gone,” highlights Heafy’s intense vocals and guitar prowess, paying homage to classic horror cinema.
Matthew Kiichi Heafy is a Japanese-born American musician best known as the guitarist and lead vocalist for heavy metal band Trivium.

TOMMY HARRISON GROUP have released a new single ‘Fury Unleashed’, taken from their upcoming EP ‘Fight To Survive’, coming out 30th May.
Tommy Harrison Group is an Orlando, FL based hard rock band. Originally starting as an instrumental trio with diverse influences in classic hard rock, metal and jazz, Harrison’s first, self-titled album was released in 2017. Since, Harrison has moved towards his hard rock roots and enlisted the vocal talents of Mark Kaleiwahea for a new 2025 EP release, ‘Fight to Survive‘ (From the Ashes Records). Kaleiwahea is most recognized as the long-time vocalist and guitarist for Honolulu based Sacred Rite, a powerful force in the underground metal scene in the 1980s and 1990s, a group still active to this day.
Like Kaleiwahea, Harrison is native to Hawai’i and are both now residents of Florida. Harrison is best known for his time in the Denver band, Dogs of Pleasure, and time in the Hollywood club scene in the early 1990s with Aristocratic Trash, voted a top band by Music Connection magazine in 1992. Harrison is also known as an academic – this rocking professor is on the faculty at the University of Central Florida.
Joined by drummer Joshua Priest, Tommy Harrison Group’s powerful riffs coupled with melodic sensibilities makes the EP ‘Fight to Survive’ accessible by a wide audience, while bringing appeal to a classic hard rock and metal fan base. Tommy Harrison Group will be releasing a series of singles in spring/summer 2025, leading in to the release of the full EP on 30th May. Ideal for playlists suited towards their classic metal influences of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Fight to Survive will also be a good fit for playlists that include hard rock groups ranging from Breaking Benjamin to Three Days Grace.
American black metal act ABIGAIL WILLIAMS returns with “A Void Within Existence,“ the long-anticipated sixth full-length album and the follow-up to 2019’s critically acclaimed “Walk Beyond the Dark”. Set for release on July 18th via Agonia Records, the record marks a new chapter in the band’s relentless evolution – an album that not only expands upon the atmospheric darkness and melodic brutality of its predecessor, but pushes further into extremes, both sonically and emotionally.
Produced by frontman Ken Sorceron and mixed by renowned engineer Dave Otero (Aborted,Akhlys), “A Void Within Existence” is a scorched offering of black metal transcendence: harrowing, cinematic, and utterly uncompromising. Drums are performed by the virtuosic Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Ghost Bath), whose work here blurs the line between precision and chaos.
Lyrically, the album dives deep into existential themes of loss, disintegration, and unreality. Tracks like “Still Nights” and “No Less Than Death” reflect on identity through surreal and fragmented images – distant lights, poisoned memories, dreams where “there is no pain.” Elsewhere, songs like “Embrace The Chasm” and “Life, Disconnected” summon visions of cosmic dread and personal oblivion, confronting the listener with raw emotion and esoteric vision.
The record is accompanied by striking cover art from Eliran Kantor (Testament, Bloodbath), whose visual interpretation mirrors the inner desolation and mythic scope of the music.
“This record was born in the quiet hours, when everything felt hollow,” Sorceron reflects. “«A Void Within Existence» isn’t just a title – it’s a feeling I couldn’t shake while writing. There’s a loneliness threaded through these songs that came from somewhere deeper than I expected. The world outside was falling apart, and in a way, so was the one inside. I wanted to push beyond the limits we explored on «Walk Beyond the Dark». Sonically, emotionally, spiritually – nothing was off-limits. I produced the album to stay close to that vision, and with Dave Otero on the mix and Mike Heller behind the kit, everything came to life exactly how I heard it in my head: raw, vast, and crushing. This is a record about absence. About peeling away what isn’t real – examining the void left behind. If there’s anything left after that – maybe it’s the truth. Maybe it’s just the void. Either way, this is the most honest I’ve ever been. «A Void Within Existence» is more than an album. It’s a crucible – a journey through the fire where only shadow and silence remain.”
Surpassing its 20th year of existence (having been formed in 2004), ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has upgraded its formula to a quartet, comprising Ken Sorceron (ex-Aborted, ex-The Faceless, Vale Of Pnath, Nachtmystium) on vocals and guitars, Vance Valenzuela (Vale Of Pnath) on guitars, John Porada (ex-Nachtmystium, ex-Wolvhammer) on bass and Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Malignancy) on drums. With Sorceron retaining his leading role, the band expands on its unique and intensive sound, forged throughout five studio albums, and anchored in black metal with shades of death metal & symphonic metal.
Tracklisting: 1. Life, Disconnected 2. Void Within 3. Nonexistence 4. Still Nights 5. Talk To Your Sleep 6. Embrace The Chasm 7. No Less Than Death
Line-up: Ken Sorceron – vocals, guitars Vance Valenzuela – guitars John Porada – bass Mike Heller – drums
