Black sheep of the Black Metal scene. Outcasts and outsiders since the very beginning. Somehow, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS are still alive, still thriving, still creating, whilst so many of their critics and competitors have fallen by the wayside.
The band return with their boldest and most diverse offering to date: their fifth record, Walk Beyond the Dark, to be released 15th November via Blood Music.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS have also shared the first new track and video from the record. First premiered via Metal Hammer, here with an exclusive interview, listen and watch ‘I Will Depart’ here:
Equal parts introspection and extremity, Walk Beyond the Dark is a testament to the band’s journey across the years; all the miles they’ve travelled, all the trials endured, all the mud thrown at them, all to keep doing what they love, on their own terms and without compromise.
1. I Will Depart
2. Sun and Moon
3. Ever So Bold
4. Black Waves
5. Into the Sleep
6. Born of Nothing
7. The Final Failure
Throughout all of these storms and tribulations remains band leader and songwriter, vocalist, and mastermind Ken Sorceron. In so many ways, Sorceron himself is ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, its heart, mind, and spirit. Deftly wielding the forces of light and dark in skilled measure. Icy guitars and bleak atmospheres encircle. Rapturous bursts of string accompaniments penetrate the melancholic futility of shadow and despair. Powerful guitars shift between slithering rhythms, contemplative grooves, and all-out assaults.
Songs like visceral opener ‘I Will Depart’ and the torrential ‘Into the Sleep’ take aspects and elements from each of the band’s previous iterations – the gleaming metallic riff-work of In The Shadow of a Thousand Suns, the seething rage of In The Absence of Light, the grim grandeur of Becoming, the moody melodic menace of The Accuser – and weave them together into something that’s far more than the mere sum of its parts.
ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will be touring North America with Ensiferum, Kalmah and Aenimus. Dates TBA shortly.
Controversial Swedish metal band SHINING have announced their first-ever US tour, reported Season Of Mist. The tour begins on August 11 in Houston, and sees SHINNG performing alongside BELPHEGOR, ORIGIN, and ABIGAIL WILLIAMS. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below.
SHINING are touring in support of their new album, ‘IX – Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends’. The album is out now and streaming here.
SHINING previously released a video for the track “Vilja & Dröm”. The NSFW Martin Strandberg-directed video is streaming now at No Clean Singing.
Founded in 1996, SHINING has since earned notoriety within the black metal underground as a result of the band’s innovative and ever-evolving sound, in addition to main-man Niklas Kvarforth’s frightening and abrasive stage persona. Characterized by Kvarforth’s philosophy on suicide, SHINING was originally conceived as a “suicidal black metal” band, inciting violence within their rabid fan-base through the band’s provocative lyrics and self-destructive imagery. Refusing to be bound by the confines of the genre, SHINING later expanded their unique approach to songwriting and themes, incorporating melodic death metal passages and dynamic vocals ranges. These new influences developed SHINING into new breed of extreme music players, whose musical prowess continues to tread new ground.

American black metal outfit ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has released the following statement:
“After much consideration, we have decided to make these upcoming ABIGAIL WILLIAMS shows our last U.S. tour. This was a very hard decision to make but feels absolutely necessary at this point.
“I’ve had the best times of my life with this band and learned so much about what I want to do with music as well as what I don’t like about the industry etc. and we honestly feel like its best to put the band to rest after making what we feel to be our very best album. I’m honestly just feeling satisfied with everything we have done as ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and I feel ready to put it to rest. We want everyone to know this has nothing to do with differences inside the band as we are still very much a family and these are still the same people I want to make music with now and in the future. We think that 2012 is the perfect year for new beginnings and we definitely plan to put music out later this year in the form of a new band(s).
“It would be easy to give people the names to our new projects here but rather than capitalize off this announcement, we would rather word get out naturally starting with our friends when the time is right.
“We want to thank our friends and fans who have supported us through the good and bad times over the years, we know its been a very bumpy road at times. We are still very dedicated to making music and this change will actually allow us to do more of what we want to do and be more productive.
“We hope to see everyone on the road for this tour that we booked DIY for the most part by ourselves. Also we want to emphasize that this is our last U.S. tour and that we are open to touring overseas if the right tour comes up.”
