Polish Vikings VALKENRAG’s New EP “Fury Untamed” Out Now

Valkenrag was formed in 2006 as a side project, but became an active live band in 2013. Their music blends melodic death metal with elements of black metal, while the lyrical themes draw heavily from pagan traditions – especially Slavic and Norse mythology.

The band released two full-length albums: “Twilight of Blood and Flesh” (2015) and “Chasing the Gods” (2018), as well as the demo “Nord Wind” and the self-titled EP “Valkenrag“. In 2025, they released a new EP titled “Fury Untamed“, and are currently working on their next full-length record.

“Fury Untamed” is the latest EP by Valkenrag, delivering a raw and relentless strike straight into the heart of chaos, fury, and the fight for identity. Across five tracks, the band explores a range of moods and themes – from mythological reflections to personal reckonings with loss, vengeance, and resistance.

Track by track by band leader, Lorghat: “The title track “Fury Untamed” draws symbolic inspiration from the Norse myth of Fenrir breaking free from his chains – a metaphor for an unstoppable force rising beyond control. Though not named explicitly, the spirit of Fenrir and Tyr looms large over the song. “Retribution” channels rage and sorrow into a tale of revenge. “Unreachable Horizon” contemplates the endless pursuit of meaning and purpose – the horizon that always seems just out of reach. “Descendant of Chaos” brings a darker, more haunting tone, evoking the presence of an unseen predator lurking in the night. The EP closes with “Bleed to Be” – a battle cry for heritage, bloodline, and defiance against imposed beliefs.“

Lyrically, the EP weaves together Norse mythology, personal experience, and cultural commentary. Musically, it remains firmly rooted in heavy, aggressive metal – blending elements of death, black, and epic melodic metal, drawing inspiration from the likes of Amon Amarth, Bathory, and Behemoth.

The cover artwork depicts Fenrir at the moment of breaking free – a visual reflection of the unleashed fury that defines this release.

EP “Fury Untamed” was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Mariusz Konieczny at Heavy Gear Studio (Hellspawn, Odium Humani Generis, Warfist). Cover artwork was done by Katarzyna Jakubska, whereas booklet design by Aleksandra Krucza. Band photo session by Maria Niemczycka.

EP was released on April 25, 2025 on CD with cooperation of Polish label Art of the Night Productions (order).

With their new song ‘New World,’ Revnoir reveal a softer, more emotional side, trading heavy sounds for acoustic vibes and raw vulnerability. The lyrics paint a haunting picture of waking up in a world filled with pain, confusion, and loss – like surviving a catastrophe but being emotionally numb. Despite the soft sound, the emotional weight is heavy, showing a powerful contrast between the music’s calm and the lyrics’ chaos.

Revnoir are:
Maxime Rodriguez-Medallo: vocals
Julien Ho-Tong: guitar, piano
Robin Leneutre: guitar
Kazumasa Yamane: drums

NERGARD Release Brand-New Lyric Video for War Anthem ‘Where No One Would Shed a Tear’ from Acclaimed 2021 Album “Eternal White”

Norwegian symphonic metal band NERGARD has released a brand-new lyric video for their war anthem “Where No One Would Shed a Tear.” Written by Andreas Nergård and Andi Kravljaca for the critically acclaimed 2021 album Eternal White, the song captures the chaos of a 16th-century battlefield, skillfully portrayed through Andi’s gripping lyrics.

“The musical foundation of the song came together in under an hour, making it by far my easiest writing session” explains band leader Andreas Nergård. “While the orchestrations and final recordings were a more involved process, the core of the song was effortless”. Eternal White tells the story of a war-weary soldier during the Great Northern War, culminating in the lesser-known Carolean Death March. “I originally wanted this to be a duet between Andi and a female singer” Nergård continues, “but as fate would have it, Mathias Molund Indergård ended up with the difficult task of singing those insane lines — and absolutely nailed it”.

NERGARD is currently in the studio working on their next album, slated for release in 2026.

After previously being exclusive to vinyl MEGA DRIVE’s rhythmic synthwave anthem “Iron Fist” is finally breaking through to the digital realm.

Purchase/Stream: https://link.fixtmusic.com/IronFist

Known for fusing retro-futuristic aesthetics with relentless sonic force, Mega Drive redelivers “Iron Fist” as a an unrelenting barrage of heavy synthesizers, crushing drum beats, and haunting piano melodies that punches straight through the neon haze. Its raw energy and cinematic power defining the playful yet darker edges of the electronic spectrum. Fans old and new can experience the track in full high-fidelity, anytime, anywhere.

The single is a prime example of Mega Drive’s signature sound: aggressive yet controlled, mechanical yet deeply atmospheric. Its gritty textures and precise rhythms conjure visions of dystopian skylines, chrome-plated warriors, and an unstoppable will to survive. The ghostly piano that echoes through the track adds a chilling humanity to its otherwise industrial edge. Its arrival marks a new chapter, giving longtime followers and new listeners alike a chance to experience one of Mega Drive’s most commanding creations in any time, any place.

The enigmatic artist behind the Mega Drive project has established himself as one of the most visionary creators in synthwave, and early releases like VHS, Hardwired, and 198XAD represent essential pillars of the dark synth and cyberpunk synthwave outgrowths of the main genre. Since his first releases in 2012, Mega Drive has gained a diehard following and his albums have become some of the most well-known and well-respected recordings in the entire retro synth world.

Never content to lean on past accomplishments, Mega Drive has consistently evolved his sound to embrace new creative approaches, and every album in the artist’s discography offers its own distinctive style. That level of experimentation and willingness to grow as a creator has kept him at the forefront of synthwave’s ever-changing landscape, and it ensures that fans will have new material to enjoy for a long time to come.
