ROTTING CHRIST have stood the test of time. Over the past 35 years, Sakis Tolis, his brother Themis and their brothers-in-arms have risen from Greece’s blackened catacombs to become one of metal’s most reliable forces.

Backed by a legacy that has both defined and defied black metal, last year, the Greek legends carved out a new set of dark, melodic scriptures with fresh rebellion on the unbreakable Pro Xristou.

“…this is the most arena-worthy Rotting Christ have been in some time”, No Clean Singing wrote about their latest album.

Now, as they continue to tour the world, Rotting Christ are celebrating 35 years of evil existence with a new live album. This two-hour set was recorded at the Lycabettus Hill Theater in the band’s hometown of Athens. Like a pantheon, it spans the band’s entire career, from early evil classics like “The Sign of Evil Existence” and the gothic one-two punch of “Sorrowful Farewell” and “Among Two Storms” to ” “Δαιμόνων Βρώσης (Demonon Vrosis)”,  “Κατά τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού”, “Like Father, Like Son” and other chiseled monuments from their modern Hellenic period.

Rotting Christ @ Milwaukee Metal Fest
Friday, May 16 – Milwaukee, Wi @ The Rave/Eagles Club [TICKETS]

In the dimly lit catacombs of extreme metal, one name stands as a monolith: ROTTING CHRIST. Sakis Tholis and his brother Themis started this band together back in 1987. In the three decades since, these Greek titans have left their blackened imprint all over the metal world. They’ve released 13 studio albums and played more than 1,300 concerts around the globe.  Underneath all this hard work, Rotting Christ have but one vision – an urge to not only push the boundaries of extreme metal, but to keep reinventing themselves along the way.

Rotting Christ’s evolution has unfolded across several distinct chapters. After starting out closer to the barely controlled chaos of grindcore, they went on to establish the iconic sound of Hellenic black metal. Their albums often embrace refined gothic soundscapes, only to plunge back into the depths of blasphemous fervour. Each chapter marked another, further exploration, and an unwavering commitment to push boundaries.

But the real turning point came in 2007, when Rotting Christ signed a pact with Season of Mist. They unleashed a series of albums for the French label that defied any and all expectations. From the piercing Theogonia and the symphonic grandeur of Aelo to the ritualistic intensity of Κατά Τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού, the cinematic experiences created by Rotting Christ became a spectacle of bombastic atmospheres, mesmerizing choirs, and neo-classical arrangements. The unexpected is their modus operandi, with the use of various languages (Latin, Arabic, Greek,  English) as well as the extensive use of famous poetry woven into their music, like Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Raven’ on The Heretics.

In 2019, Rotting Christ’s epic journey continued with The Apocryphal Spell compilation, which offers fans an intimate glimpse into unreleased and rare material. This allowed them to gather strength, preparing for the release of their next, highly anticipated, 14th full-length studio album: Pro Xristou.

Pro Xristou
(‘Before Christ’ in Greek), serves as a fervent tribute to the last Pagan kings who resisted the onslaught of Christianity, guarding their ancient values and knowledge. In this thematic odyssey, intricately woven through tracks such as ‘The Apostate’ and ‘Ygdrassil’, Rotting Christ delves into the legacies of historical figures such as Flavius Claudius Julianus and Nordic mythological kings, embodying the might of Pagan wisdom in the face of Christian adversity. The album encapsulates the essence of Rotting Christ’s signature style – melodic, yet harsh at times – reinventing themselves yet again, while remaining rooted in their 35-year legacy.

Legendary guitarist and songwriter DON FELDER—best known for his iconic role with the Eagles—is thrilled to announce the release of his highly anticipated new studio album, The Vault – Fifty Years of Music, arriving May 23, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. The latest single, “Hollywood Victim”,  is out now.

Pre-order “The Vault – Fifty Years Of Music” HERE

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and legendary guitarist Don Felder is set to release his highly anticipated new solo album, The Vault – Fifty Years of Music, on May 23, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. The album, his first in five years, is a career-spanning collection featuring re-recorded demos and unreleased gems from his extensive musical journey, including tracks originally submitted for Eagles albums.

The latest single, “Hollywood Victim”, offers a scathing look at the allure and pitfalls of fame, serving as a modern companion to Felder’s iconic “Hotel California”. Originally penned in the early ‘90s for the Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over tour, the track tells the story of starry-eyed dreamers who arrive in Hollywood with high hopes, only to become casualties of the city’s ruthless entertainment machine. With searing guitar work and poignant storytelling, “Hollywood Victim” captures the seductive yet unforgiving nature of Tinseltown.

In addition to “Hollywood Victim”, The Vault features a range of stylistic influences and all-star collaborations, including contributions from Steve Lukather, David Paich, Greg Phillinganes, Chad Smith, Matt & Gregg Bissonette and Nathan East. The album includes everything from classic rock anthems to introspective ballads, culminating in the poignant closer “Blue Skies”, a heartfelt tribute to Felder’s late Eagles bandmate Glenn Frey.

The multi-talented Felder is also a best-selling New York Times author (Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles), a TV host (the MTV spoof FTV), and a soundtrack composer, having contributed two tracks to Heavy Metal and the score for the 1986 CBS cartoon series Galaxy High. Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with artists such as the Bee Gees, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, and Andy Gibb, as well as contributing guitars to Stevie Nicks’ first two solo albums.

Felder remains a relentless creative force, balancing studio work with a packed touring schedule, including this summer’s Brotherhood of Rock tour alongside Styx and Kevin Cronin. See below for the current tour itinerary.

The Vault – Fifty Years of Music is available for pre-order now. Stream “Hollywood Victim” on all major platforms.

ALLY VENABLE + SHEMEKIA COPELAND Team Up for Unbreakable’ Single

The Texas-born and bred guitar shredding powerhouse, and singer/songwriter, Ally Venable is thrilled to share her new song “Unbreakable” ft. Shemekia Copeland. – the latest song to be released off Ally’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, Money & Power, due out on April 18 via Ruf Records.

“This is a powerful duet, and defiant anthem that celebrates the indomitable spirit of women who have weathered life’s storms,” says Ally. “The song paints a vivid portrait of two souls who have both gone through adversity, yet their voices blend in a harmonious tribute to resilience and triumph.  I am here to let women know that they can stand tall and face the world with unbreakable courage and strength.”

“Unbreakable” ft. Shemekia Copeland follows the releases of the title track, “Money & Power,” “Keep Me in Mind,” and “Do You Cry.”

Ally has been on the road with the iconic Experience Hendrix Tour for the last several weeks and is gearing up to kick off her Money & Power headline tour, in support of the new album on April 12 in Dallas, TX.

All news, tickets and additional information can be found at allyvenableband.com.

Rules are to be broken. Expectations are there to be defined, and glass ceilings are there to be shattered. Having spent the past decade carving out her own unique space in the male-dominated world of blues-rock, Ally Venable’s combative sixth album, Money & Power, demands more of both – for herself, for women around the world, and for anyone else who thought they weren’t worthy of a seat at the table.

“Money & Power is such a strong statement, especially for women,” says the award-winning Texas gunslinger of her Nashville-recorded new release, on which Ally’s crack-squad band is joined by A-list guests Shemekia Copeland and Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram.

“All the songs on this album showcase the theme of what it truly means to be a force to be reckoned with. I want this record to wake people up,” continues Ally.

Money and power make the world go round. But in the right hands, music can be every bit as potent.  On the heels of 2023’s acclaimed Real Gone – an album that hit #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts and was still in contention a year later – Ally is rated amongst the best young singer-songwriters in American roots, saluted by Total Guitar magazine in its poll of Top 100 Blues Guitarists.

“With her heels, sequins and Les Paul growling on a leash, she’s one of Ruf’s most head-turning young artists,” wrote Classic Rock, “and while the instrumental prowess can be taken as read, Real Gone marks a growing maturity in the Texan’s songcraft.”

In February 2024, with the dust still settling from Real Gone, the Money & Power sessions saw Ally and producer/drummer Tom Hambridge push through the doors of Nashville’s famous Soundstage Studios. While the studio band was strictly on the A-list, as always, Ally’s new songs are the real stars. That attitude is palpable on opener “Brown Liquor,” Ally’s battlecry decorated by a stinging guest guitar solo from the Mississippi hotshot Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram.

“Maybe Someday” is a blissful moment of redemptive soul, carried along by horns and barbed lyrics aimed at an old flame. Next up is the white-hot title track, with Ally’s guitar set to scorch and a seething message.

“Money & Power shouts to the masses,” she explains, “that women are not to be doubted in their ability to thrive in the world.”

Vital right to the end, Money & Power plays out with “Stepping Stone’s” earthy roar of empowerment, the shuddering, spooky, tremolo-soaked groove of “Feel That Sting,” and the dust blown rocker “Unbreakable,” where Ally goes toe-to-toe with New York powerhouse Shemekia Copeland.

“That song spreads a message of women that have been oppressed,” she says, “to rise to the occasion and break above it all.” Money & Power is a modern roots record that plays by its own rules and marches to the beat of its own drum. The same could be said for Ally herself. “I’m thrilled to release this album,” she says. “For me, it’s a sonic embodiment of a woman’s unstoppable ambition and really showcases my musicality on all fronts. I’m looking forward to seeing where this one will take me.”

ROBIN TOWER Releases New Single ‘One Go Round’ + Album Release Date Change

Photo (c) Rob Blackham

The iconic British Blues maestro Robin Trower continues his prolific period with the release of his new single, the slow-burning blues of, One Go Round. You can watch the lyric video HERE. The single is taken from his brand-new studio album, Come And Find Me. The record has a new release date of 16 May and will be out via Provogue.

Trower stands on the cusp of a whirlwind year that will see him put down heavy miles across America and the UK (“I’m chomping at the bit, because I had to cancel a US tour last year due to an operation”). You can pick up tickets HERE.

The guitarist’s famed musicianship takes centre stage on the swampy One Go Round, which lived up to the ‘seize-the-day’ lyric with its rapid birth in the studio. “That was almost an instant finished thing. It was like a hot knife through butter. All the lead work was improvised, and it’s exactly where I live. The lyrical meaning is pretty obvious. You only get one go round, so try and make the most of it,” Trower explains.

This follows the previous single A Little Bit of Freedom, which starts in combative style with a blast of wah guitar and a bold first line (‘I don’t need no-one to think for me’). “I had a strong sense that red tape and rules are really constricting things in the world,” says Trower. “Too much red tape, not enough freedom to think – it’s got to where you feel straitjacketed.”

Come And Find Me was Tracked sporadically over a twelve-month period at Newbury’s Studio 91 (the setting for all Trower’s recent solo albums), the genesis of Come And Find Me speaks volumes about the guitarist’s late-period momentum and high standards.

As he reaches his eighth decade, with a lifetime of accolades and a seminal body of music behind him, Robin Trower is still chasing the biggest high he knows. It always starts the same way, with a road-scuffed Fender Stratocaster and a revved-up Marshall amplifier, those skilful fingers exploring the fretboard until a riff sticks and a new song ignites. And from the cultural flashpoint of Sixties London with Procol Harum, through 1974’s stadium-filling Bridge Of Sighs, right up to this year’s acclaimed Come And Find Me, it’s these addictive moments of creation that have kept the guitarist vital, relevant and contemporary while his peers trade on past glories.

Always a sociable musician and generous collaborator, Trower enlisted his trusted studio band for Come And Find Me. Drummer Chris Taggart once again drives these powerful songs, with returning US bassist Glenn Letsch providing low end on Tangled Love and I Fly Straight To You (Trower played the remainder).

Long-standing vocalist Richard Watts brilliantly interprets the guitarist’s highly personal lyric sheets. For the fairydust, Trower turned to Studio 91’s owner Sam Winfield for the engineering and final mix – but the guitarist was intimately involved with every element.

Fiery, thoughtful and fuelled by real human emotion in a time of machine-generated music, Come And Find Me is hardly the work of a rock icon resting on his laurels. On the contrary: keenly aware of passing time, Robin Trower has made it his late-period mission to capture as many shards of magic as possible. “In one way, I can’t believe it, that I’m still going at 80,” he says. “It’s kind of scary. You know that you’re way down the road, and you could hit a brick wall at any time. But I still love doing this. For me, there’s nothing more rewarding than working on a new song…”

MÍO Release New Single ‘Kanke se for meg’

Norwegian folk rock band MÍO are here with their newest single, “Kanke se for meg” (Can’t see through my eyes)!

Accompanying the release is a black-and-white music video featuring vocalist Dio wandering through Oslo on a cold Friday night. The video captures the city’s late-night rhythm with a quiet, almost hypnotic simplicity.

“Kanke se for meg” (can’t see through my eyes) is a song that captures the fear of danger that comes with being yourself when you belong to a oppressed group—simply for being who you are. Whether it’s being a woman, a minority, queer, trans, or “different” in any way—anything that might attract unwanted attention and harm. It’s a paranoia that follows you everywhere, born from being burned too many times.

Blending Norwegian folk with raw rock energy, the album “Hva nå?”  is pulsing with frustration, melancholy, and intensity in a dynamic musical universe – the new single shows the more melancholic side of the record.

Vocalist Dionisia Fjelldalen explains: “This song is a tribute to everyone who dares to be themselves and to those who fight a battle every day—often invisible to many. It’s an homage to those who have fought for our rights and to everyone who continues the fight! There’s still a long way to go, and the fear lingers—but we must still walk out late at night, still dare to be ourselves, and keep working toward a society where everyone can feel safe, no matter who they are or how they look.”

The track is taken from their upcoming album ‘Hva nå?’, which will be released on the 9th of May, 2025, via By Norse Music.

«Restless folk rock from and for a chaotic world, breaking all boundaries!»

The Norwegian band MÍO has earned a reputation as one of the underground’s most exceptional and captivating live experiences. With a lead vocalist who grabs hold of the listener and refuses to let go – delivering raw vocal power and an immense stage presence, supported by a tight, playful, and energetic band. The result an unforgettable musical force.

MÍO draws rich inspiration from Norwegian rock, punk, and folk music featuring hardanger fiddle with fuzz and a vast arsenal of folk instruments from around the world. The music is hard-hitting without losing balance with its more dynamic sides. MÍO explores Norwegian folk music in many innovative ways – through tonality and lyrical pictures. Melodies shine through with a strong folk identity, using teqniques such as vocal- and fiddle trills. The lyrics draw inspiration from timeless images in folk tales, mixed with the sharp-edge and frankness from punk and rock – addressing current themes that navigate between society, politics and human emotions. MÍO brings something new to the folk universe with their unique genre fusion. It´s fierce, bold, and progressive, yet versitile and engaging with a broad appeal – this is groundbreaking norwegian folk rock like never heard before.

With roots in Oslo’s punk and rock scene, MÍO has a very different homebase than other folk music projects. The band was founded in 2019 by vocalist Dionisia Fjelldalen and bassist Marianne Friisberg Larssen, who met while studing music at High School in Oslo and bonded over their love for rock and folk music. After a year of writing songs as a duo, they expanded into a full band and jazz-drummer Eilif Hallingstad Finnseth from Sortland joined and became a permanent member of the band.

Their first EP, «MÍO», was released in April 2020. Due to COVID restrictions the release concert was changed to a livestream and the activity was more or less put on hold – MÍO wasn´t able to reach it´s full live potential. During studies vocalist Dionisia Fjelldalen met fiddle player Maja Hveding Styffe studying Musical Science at the Oslo University, who joined the band as the new fiddleplayer in late 2020. Maja Hveding Styffe grew up in Oslo, with a family of both punk enthusiasts and classically trained musicians. Despite the pandemic restrictions the following years, MÍO still managed to play 14 concerts between 2019 and 2021, with a strong eager to play for a live audience.

In January 2022, the band line-up was complete and MÍO became the sextet it is today. Guitarist Jakob Nome and multi-instrumentalist Hennie Hagen Johnsen joins in, and the creative energy and rock influences in the band grows even stronger. Jakob Nome has a background both from prog rock and classical music, and Hennie Hagen Johnsen (who was originally brought in as a keyboard-player) brings in a big collection of folk instruments from around the world. Hennie continually enrichens the band’s musical landscape by expanding the instrumental line-up with accordion, key harp, flute, banjo, baglama, sitar, langeleik, and more.

When restrictions eased in 2022, the band responded with a series of five concerts over just three months at Oslo’s legendary underground punk venue – Blitz, where they opened for the American folk-punk band Bridge City Sinners in july 2022. Blitz is and has been a cornerstone for Oslo’s underground music scene for over four decades, and became a home base for MÍO, where they felt a strong sense of belonging.

On June 9, 2023, MÍO released their debut album, «Ingen tid å miste», on Lilith Records, receiving widespread acclaim for bringing something fresh to the Norwegian music scene. The album earned the top spot on The Nordic Sound as “Best Nordic Release” and Dagsavisen´s critic Mode Steinkjer called the music: “Restless folk rock for and from a chaotic world, with virtuosic details and an approach to raw musical foundations that breaks all boundaries!”

They followed the album release with an impressively active live presence – touring all across of Norway in 2023 and 2024. Performing on stages like Parkteatret in Oslo, Hulen in Bergen, UFFA in Trodheim, Rockeklubben in Porsgrunn, as well as at festivals such as Midgardsblot in Horten, Telemarksfestivalen in Bø, Rock mot Rus in Andenes, Pride in Oslo, and Pøbelrock in Trondheim. When playing at Midgardsblot 2023, journalist Tina Solda from Stalker Magazine wrote with great enthusiasm:

«A true newcomer, the Oslo-based sextet had only a few weeks earlier released its debut album, but took to the stage like they had never done anything else. Their bold mixture of elements ranging from Norwegian folk to punk, progressive rock and even jazz sounded utterly fresh and original, and the powerful vocals and total physical abandon of singer Dionisia Fjelldalen was rewarded by very active participation from the audience. Top recommendation!»
