Legendary southern rock band LYNYRD SKYNYRD has announced the upcoming release of “Celebrating 50 Years – Live At The Ryman” (Frontiers Music SRL) – a live album and DVD capturing Lynyrd Skynyrd’s historic 50th-anniversary concert at Nashville’s legendary venue in 2022. This special release holds profound significance as it features the final performance of founding member Gary Rossington, who passed the following year. The new release will be available everywhere on June 27, 2025. Pre-Order on 2CD/DVD, Blu-Ray or a double LP here: https://ffm.to/lsryman50

The first single and music video, “Tuesday’s Gone” featuring Jelly Roll, are available everywhere today. Watch the video here:

The album showcases the band’s unparalleled energy, their signature blend of blues rock and Southern hard rock swagger and stands as both a heartfelt tribute to Rossington and a celebration of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s lasting legacy in music history. Special guests on the album include Jelly Roll, Marcus King, John Osborne (The Brothers Osborne), Brent Smith (Shinedown), and Donnie Van Zant (Van Zant & .38 Special).

With over 28 million records sold in the U.S. and a sound as iconic as the American culture it celebrates, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd continue to inspire fans of all ages while embodying the very soul of Southern rock. From their humble Jacksonville beginnings, through tragedy, reunion, and redemption, the band has earned its place on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” – as well as a prominent spot in the hearts of generations.

Originally formed in 1964 as My Backyard, the band evolved into Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1968, with a lineup featuring Ronnie Van Zant (vocals), Gary Rossington (guitar), Allen Collins (guitar), Larry Junstrom (bass), and Bob Burns (drums). Their 1973 debut album introduced the world to their unmistakable blend of blues, country, and hard rock. Hits like “Sweet Home Alabama” and the timeless “Free Bird” cemented their status as pioneers of the genre.

At the peak of their success, in 1977, a devastating plane crash claimed the lives of lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and backup vocalist Cassie Gaines, leaving the music world in shock. Despite the unimaginable loss, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s legacy endured, and their music remained a beacon of Southern rock.

In 1987, the band reformed with Ronnie’s younger brother, Johnny Van Zant, taking over as lead vocalist. Lynyrd Skynyrd continued to tour and record, with guitarist Rickey Medlocke returning to the fold in 1996. Throughout the years, the band has remained a driving force in rock, honoring their roots while bringing their signature sound to new audiences.

Though founding member Gary Rossington’s passing in 2023 marked the end of an era, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s influence remains stronger than ever. Their enduring music, spirit, and legacy will forever stand as a testament to the power of rock and roll.

Helsinki-based doom metal band Denigrate released their fourth full length album titled “To the Goddess Unknown” on November 29th 2024. In the beginning of March 2025 the founding member, guitarist and main composer of Denigrate Seppo Nummela passed away suddenly. Music video was filmed earlier and now it is finished and released to honor the memory of Seppo.

Denigrate’s Singer Galzi tells about the Song and the music video:

“In The Light was one of the first compositions for the album “To The Goddess Unknown” -the last individual of the album release as a music video.

Also the song was the only one from the album that kept its’ work name from the beginning until completion.

We wanted to make this a proper art-and-headbanging-video to underline the sheer joy of doing what we do. Huge thanks goes to Markus Saarela for capturing the moments.

Though the song tells about taking and giving nothing in return, there dwells a glimpse of hope for a change at the end.

This we will dedicate to the memory our key-member, the founder of Denigrate, Seppo Nummela. We’ll keep carrying the torch, don’t you worry brother!”

WRATH OF LOGARIUS Usher in New Underground Realm with “Crown of Mortis” Album, Out Today

No matter what skeletal form they assume, Wrath of Logarius aren’t bound by black metal’s strict traditions. The band’s debut album crowns them kings of a new realm for the underground: formless black metal.

“What a fresh perspective”, Metal Bite writes in a 9/10 review for Crown of Mortis. “For every second’s worth of savagery, you’ll also take in striking melodic passages and slow-burning parts that feels as if you’ve been placed on the rack; relentlessly dragging the depths; turning up the filth of human existence with every dooming riff”.

“For a debut album, the record is very concise, compact and fluid”, says Pedro from A&P Reacts. “There’s a little bit of everything pushing this record in different directions and that gives the sound a much richer texture than if it was just a black metal album”.

Crown of Mortis is released today, Friday, April 4 on Season of Mist, and you can hear all nine boundless songs by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.  Order the album at https://orcd.co/wrathoflogariuscrownofmortis

Though they hail from the misty forests of Northern California, it’s fitting that whispers of Wrath of Logarius began amongst the digital realm. After all, the band are named after a notoriously difficult video game dungeon master.

“Right away, everyone who heard them knew this band sounds different”, says John Barbas of Heavy Metal Philosophy.

Crown of Mortis follows the immediate aftermath of Wrath of Logarius’ viral takeover. Each song twists into a uniquely horrific tale that serves the larger plot of its accursed king. “Unfathomable” opens the album as if trapped in another nightmarish dimension, though its narrator’s ominous transmission can’t stop lead single “Keeper of the Spectral Legion” from rolling out the blood red carpet for an army of the undead.

“Ancient – Power – Cosmic – Legion“, Noctifer growls during the song’s punchy, bone-crushing chorus before his gutturals climb into throat-scraped agony.

Just like their notorious namesake, it’s impossible to predict which way Wrath of Logarius will attack next on Crown of Mortis. Since their infectious EP, these skeletal wraiths have leveled up in brute strength. “Long Dead the King” marches to the blistering pace set by Lord Marco’s punishingly precise blast beats. Strega axeman Urath and Vastator boobytrap “Lurker’s Tomb” with knuckle-dragging chugs and maze-like shredding.

“There are a score of reasons why Crown of Mortis should be experienced”, writes The Razors Edge, “and the first in my mind is utter obliteration”

But Wrath of Logarius’ first full-length also ups their chilling sense for atmosphere with hair-raising skill. Beneath the slithering stomp of “The Ethereal Mist” emerges Vilhelm of Grima with freshly rotten snarls. “Of the Void” cycles through the many moonlit phases of black metal. Classic tremolo picking whips like a howling wind, only to climb into a solo that drips with despair. “Surrounded by the mist of emptiness“, Noctifer shrieks as the album’s dread-inducing closer ascends into the astral plane. “The fear subsides for now I breathe again“.

On Crown of Mortis, Wrath of Logarius bend black metal to fit their formless rule.

Wrath of Logarius are rolling out the red carpet for Crown of Mortis with a special hometown record release show. They’ll be joined by fellow evil statesmen Post Heaven, Lost to the Void and Vesseles.

Despite its contentious spirit, black metal can be awfully rigid. But Wrath of Logarius aren’t bound by the scene’s strict traditions. Their first album officially coronates a new realm for the subgenre: formless black metal. Much like their namesake, the band’s next move is impossible to predict. Yet no matter what skeletal form they assume, Crown of Mortis pronounces Wrath of Logarius as unflinching kings of this new realm.

Though they hail from the misty forests of Northern California, it’s fitting that whispers of Wrath of Logarius began amongst the digital realm. After all, the band are named after a notoriously difficult video game dungeon master.  When their cryptic debut “1897” dropped out of thin air during the pandemic, the song burned up message boards so quickly that the flames could be seen from the South of France. After signing with Season of Mist in 2023, they formally introduced formless black metal with an EP that spread through the world of extreme metal like a bloodborne virus.

“Creating a new subgenre label and having it work? *Chef’s Kiss*”, New Noise gushed over Necrotic Assimilation. Meanwhile, Teeth of the Divine were nearly knocked unconscious by its brutal assault on the senses. “Lord Marco’s drum work is ridiculous here and is almost making my vision vibrate”.

Many hunters would’ve reaped those rewards while resting their bones, but the lore behind Wrath of Logarius continues to grow. This band of skeletons were already busy fleshing out their first full-length before Necrotic Assimilation had even swarmed streaming services. Crown of Mortis follows the immediate aftermath of their viral takeover. Each song twists into a uniquely horrific tale that serves the larger plot of its accursed king. “Unfathomable” opens as if trapped in another nightmarish dimension, though its narrator’s ominous transmission can’t stop “Keeper of the Spectral Legion” from summoning an army of the undead.

“Ancient — Power — Cosmic — Legion“, Noctifer growls. As his gutturals climb into throat-scraping agony, axemen Urath and Vastator switch the blade of their Stregas from  merciless death metal chug to tremolo pickings that are pierced with gloom.

With Crown of Mortis, Wrath of Logarius build on their throne of formless black metal. Though possessed by a mournful melody, “Long Dead the King” marches to Lord Marco’s blistering blasts. The flays from his flying fingers are so precise in their pounding that they erode the mind. But while the band have leveled up in brute strength, the album also ups their chilling sense for atmosphere with hair-raising skill. With the curl of each blackened tendril, “Of the Void” embraces transfiguration by fire and ice. “Open the gates and let revision in“, Noctifer beckons amidst swirling dissonance. “Slowly dismantle every part of you“.

Wrath of Logarius also encrust Crown of Mortis with deadly new jewels. Another woodland specter comes to join their ranks on “The Ethereal Mist”. Beneath its slithering stomp emerges Vilhelm of Grima with freshly rotten snarls. “Lurker’s Tomb” crashes down with knuckle-dragging riffs and brutal double bass kicks, but its trap is sprung by a solo that’s treachery lies in its maze-like technicality. “The fear subsides for now I breathe again“, Noctifer shrieks as the album’s dread-inducing closer ascends into the astral plane.

On Crown of Mortis, Wrath of Logarius bend black metal to fit their formless rule.

BENEDICTION Unleash New Album “Ravage Of Empires” with Lyric Video for ‘A Carrion Harvest’

“‘Ravage Of Empires’ is a crusher of an album, that rolls forward like a heavy tank, unstoppable and disregarding trends.” – ROCK HARD (GER) – ALBUM OF THE MONTH

“This is death metal and with RAVAGE OF EMPIRES Benediction undoubtedly occupy the genre throne – even in 2025 everyone else can just die off and throw themselves in the dust before the forefathers” – METAL HAMMER (GER)

Today, British death metal legends, BENEDICTION, are celebrating the release of their highly anticipated new album Ravage Of Empires, not only with the coinciding release of a lyric video for the album’s devastating opening track ‘A Carrion Harvest‘, but also by kicking off their European tour with guests Junge Rot & Master tonight in Hamburg.

“Brace for impact, or be blown away” – these lines from the chorus of fast-paced ripper ‘A Carrion Harvest‘ can be regarded as a condensed instruction manual for Ravage Of Empires. The album’s opening track sets the stage for a demonstration of pure old-school death metal power in eleven chapters by one of the genre’s pioneers, and its torch bearers to this day and age.

You can watch the lyric video for ‘A Carrion Harvest‘ below or stream Ravage Of Empires in full at a service of your choice.

BLEED FROM WITHIN Celebrate New “Zenith” Album Release with ‘Violent Nature’ Visualizer

Metal titans BLEED FROM WITHIN have today released their brand new studio album, Zenith, via Nuclear Blast Records. After their most successful year to date, Zenith‘s whirlwind of accomplished songwriting, white-hot metal fury and hard-earned confidence proves the best is yet to come from the Scottish heavyweights. To coincide with the album release, they have also revealed a video for storming opening track ‘Violent Nature’.

On the release of their new album, the band comment:

“Today is the day. Friday 4th April 2025 marks the release of our greatest work so far. This is the best collection of songs we ever put together and a massive step forward for us creatively. Since we released Hands Of Sin last year, we’ve worked very hard on delivering something essential to our needs. Something that gave purpose to the time we’d dedicated and something we felt was missing in modern metal. Now, almost a year later, we are ready to share it with the world and see where it takes us. Here’s to the future.
