Video footage of Italian heavy metal singer Fabio Lione (RHAPSODY OF FIRE, KAMELOT) performing a karaoke-style cover version of the QUEEN classic “The Show Must Go On” on the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise — which set sail on January 23 aboard the Royal Caribbean Majesty Of The Seas from Miami, Florida to George Town, Cayman Islands and returned four days later — can be viewed below.
Lione was the lead singer for KAMELOT for their most recent North American, South American and European tours following the departure of the band’s longtime frontman, Roy Khan.
Lione stated in a 2011 interview that he would “would love” to join KAMELOT permanently. He said, “The KAMELOT songs are great, I really like the style and Khan is probably one of the few singers that I like. So, of course, I would consider that!!! But first let’s do the North American [tour]. Then if they will ask me, I’ll be more than happy to join the band permanently.”
He added, “Since the first time we met and played together, we had a very good feeling. Everything was easy and natural like we knew each other for years and everybody who saw the band in South America or Europe said we did great shows. I’m happy for the guys and the fans, so let’s see what the future will bring for us. Never say never.” Source: Blabbermouth.net
ANNIHILATOR are inviting fans to post footage from their set on the 70000 Tons Of Metal on their official Facebook page, found here:
“The internet and cell reception was rarely working for a few days so expect lots of killer footage in the next day or so from everyone!”
Footage of the band performing ‘Clown Parade’ is now online. Check it out below:
Annihilator guitarist/founder checked in with the following update:
“OK, back from the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise from Miami to the Grand Cayman Islands. There really are no words to describe it. You had to be there. Annihilator had a few kick-ass shows in the main Theater and on the killer Pool Deck… under the stars and in the heat! All the people on the ship, crew, bands, fans, staff were amazing. Guitar clinic was the funnest one I’ve ever done… a packed venue (the mega-Karaoke bar!) and the funniest time ever. Canadians rule! Speaking of Karaoke, Dave Padden rules. The best. Alexi Laiho and I sang ‘Turbo Lover’ together and we sucked.. but it was fun! Sheryl and I rocked BRYAN ADAMS’ ‘Summer Of 69’… hahaaha! Anytime, Sheryl! After all the bands played, we hung out in that Karaoke bar and it was fkn killer. I could live there… no need to do anything else! Basketball, rock climbing, Strawberry VIRGIN Daiquiri’s til 8 am every morning. (sick as a dog from all the sugar!) The band that surprised me was KATAKLYSM. I had heard a few songs before and knew they were Canadian, but never bought their music. Now I will. They didn’t have many people at their Pool Deck show but it SHOULD HAVE BEEN PACKED. They were, to me, the best band there. MASSIVE, powerful riffing and super pro onstage. Overkill rocked, but they always do. Good to see and hang out with the boys again!
Alexi rocks. Not more to say, Especially the rap outfits. I think he has some pics of me that will shock all. Thanks to Andy Pillar for inviting us and we will do anything to get back on there next year… not with Annihilator (cause we just played!) but as fans. If you get a chance to go to this thing… GO! LIFE-ALTERING EXPERIENCE. Some of the people I met there were WOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! (Tractor Beam!!).
BTW, Annihilator rocked. Any of you who went can tell me how it went… but, judging from the size of the crowds and the reaction (my ears ringing), I think we rocked the boat.”

Heavy metal is actually part of a very wide range of music that can utilize much more than typically loud guitars and drums. I saw everything from bagpipes to harps. This concert though took place on a cruise ship and without having to worry about disturbing the neighbours you can rest assured ear plugs were in high demand.”
