ADL Bookings is very pleased to welcome on board metal band ONE MACHINE.
ONE MACHINE is the brainchild of critically acclaimed guitarist/songwriter Steve Smyth (Nevermore, Forbidden, Dragonlord, Vicious Rumors).
ONE MACHINE is an international metal band with classic and modern influences, featuring members carefully selected by Smyth: Mikkel Sandager (Mercenary) on vocals, Jamie Hunt (Biomechanical) sharing guitar duties, rounded out by a powerhouse rhythm section with Tomas “O’Beast” Koefoed (Mnemic) on bass guitar and Michele Sanna (Coma) on drums.
Smyth had often given thought to leading his own band throughout his distinguished career as a member of bands including Testament, Nevermore, and Forbidden, amongst others.
Smyth had written a number of songs, but the challenge of finding the right members to bring them to life remained.
He found a more than capable shredding second guitarist in Jamie Hunt, and the two began collaborating on the material Smyth had. “Jamie’s playing complements mine extremely well, and we hit it off perfectly when we got together to work on the songs” says Smyth.
A vocalist was found in the form of original Mercenary singer Mikkel Sandager. He fit the kind of singer Smyth was looking for, with his versatile ability to sing in different ways, and his readiness to be pushed into new musical territories. “When our former bands toured together, I got to witness night after night, exactly what Mikkel could do; deliver a solid performance with an incredible range, as well as multiple characters in his voice. He’s perfect for this band!”
Smyth, Hunt, and Sandager then set about refining and shaping Smyth’s original material.
Drummer Raphael Saini, formerly of Italian progressive metallers Chaoswave, handled recording for the album, having since been replaced by Michele Sanna (Coma).
In 2012, bassist Tomas “O’Beast” Koefoed, formerly of Mnemic, came on board, adding his distinctive sound to the tracks. “Tomas is without a doubt one of the most solid bassists I’ve encountered in some time! He literally added an entirely new dimension to these songs that would not have been possible to be achieved without him.”
With the lineup complete, a debut album was recorded, mixed by Roy Z, mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Mastering, with album artwork being created by Niklas Sundin/Cabin Fever Media. The album was released on Scarlet Records on 18 February 2014.

Metal Shock Finland‘s partners at ADL Management & Booking are very pleased to welcome on board British metal band DEF CON ONE.
In the last 2 years DEF CON ONE have become a prominent force in the British metal scene but have also spread their name through out Europe and America. The band signed to Scarlet Records in March of 2012 and released their debut album “Warface” in June of the same year. The album instantly struck a chord within the world of metal and the band starting receiving fantastic reviews from the off. The first few gigs after the release of Warface made it clear to the band that they had indeed wrote and released a stupendous debut album, with crowds at the gigs going insane and giving awesome feedback back to the band.
DEF CON ONE’s influences cover a wide variation of music from old school rock to modern metal and proper punk music,
Bloodstock Festival actually described the band as coming across like a bar fight between Machine Head, Slayer and Pantera so these guys are in good company. What Def-Con-One has tried and always will try to achieve is to write songs that they simply cannot buy. To fill the void of the unattainable, why copy something? It’s been done. This band only wants to sound like one band……their band! DEF CON ONE!
The song subjects of Def-Con-One are wide spread:
“March of the Dead” is all about the mundane futile journey working the 9 till 5 lifestyle and seeing your dreams being crushed and simply settling to exist instead of living a life. The track march of the dead has a guest solo on it from Mike “Mykvs” Hickey, we called him up and said “hey do you fancy laying down a solo on a track for us” and he said “hell yes” straight away. We think its killer having a guy who has played with Venom, Cathedral, Carcass and Goatreign on our tune.
And Mike has laid down a bad ass killer solo.
“Warface” confronts the age old subject of the bully, standing up for what you believe in and not backing down, not being defeated in the quest for being independent, for being different.
“Feeling Cold” is a dark, consuming song of loss, of deceit and later on in the song, of enlightenment and discovery of one’s self.
“Blood” confronts the subject of drug addiction and its effects on people’s lives.”
Def-Con-One pulls on their real life experiences to write their songs, to make the content of the lyrics believable, tangible and allowing the listener to relate to them.
There are no individual writers in Def-Con-One. Everything is written as a collective, taking into consideration everyone’s thought process and ideas and this exists in not only the music but also the lyrics. We feel being in a band is like being in a gang, a brotherhood if you like. We look out for one another, we have “each other’s backs”
There are no egos in Def-Con-One, (well, until we hit the stage and then the gloves are off) it’s all four of us contributing to make it what it is. We are fans writing metal for metallers, its as simple as that!
The recording of the album “WARFACE” was done in Def-Con-One’s very own studio The Room of Doom. We came to the conclusion that instead of trying to get our thought process over to a sound engineer and producer of how we wanted to sound, we would do it ourselves. This also gave us the time to experiment with songs and sounds in the recording process at no cost. (nothing worse than getting your songs back and it’s all wrong in the mix and you can’t afford to fix it) This, like the song writing, was done as a collective, bouncing idea’s off each other for the good of the song and not the individual which is what we are all about. Making sure everybody’s views are taken into consideration. It allowed us to play with the songs and it enabled us to harness the true power of what we had written. To harness the power of Def-Con-One!
Metal Hammer had this to say about Def Con One:
“the roaring groove of Pantera and the seismic fury of early Machine Head”, ”this lot open their salvo with ‘Never Look Back’ and carry on with a succession of unremittingly crushing tracks”…
