When it comes to hard rock and heavy metal, bass players are, almost by definition, typically the most unselfish components of any band. They may not experience the godlike rush enjoyed by singers as the focal point of most concert performances; nor the wild response elicited by guitar heroes with every blazing display of fretboard proficiency; nor even the adulation eaten up by drummers. Instead, a bassist’s reward — if you can call it that — generally involves the thankless responsibility of holding all the music together while keeping his bandmates’ egos in check by way of his own, less selfish example.
Here, we give bassists their due with our picks for the Top 66 Hard Rock + Metal Bassists of All Time based on several factors, including technical ability, groundbreaking contributions, range of influence, years of service and, sure, popularity, plain and simple. These factors are inevitably subjective to a point, but we did our best to line them up according to their overall impact on the conscience of music fans, while praising their individual strengths along the way. Ultimately, what matters most is recognizing their amazing talents and comparatively selfless contributions to the “me, me ME!” world of rock and roll, so we’ll get right to it by paraphrasing the Godfather of Soul, James Brown: “Let’s give the bassist some!”

ALPHA OMEGA Management has a pleasure to announce the signing of the Female Fronted Symphonic Metal act HYDRA, hailing from the beautiful Bavaria in Germany!
So far HYDRA have released 2 albums; the debut “Malachite Skies“ (2015) and “Solar Empire” (2016), featuring Henning Basse (Firewind / Mayan) among others. Now the band is working on their 3rd album, having the first ideas and demos are already in the pipeline. Since summer 2015 HYDRA have played a few dozen shows in 7 different countries in Europe. The band played festivals as well as club shows. Currently HYDRA are preparing a spectacular liveshow with LED lightning, Stroboscope light, different lasers and CO² throwers. The band is planning to bring the visual highlight on stages at the end of 2017.

Dariusz “Daray” Brzozowski is one of the most recognized drummers within the metal scene. Well known for his extreme drumming, blastbeats, precision and supersonic speeds, he earned his reputation through the years and was repeatedly valued for his achievements. Extensively touring the world with his bands. He played over a 1000 shows.
Born in 1980, he got his first kit at the age of 14. His story began with the band Vesania, and was continued in Vader, Masachist, Hunter, Black River. He’s also a session musician for multiple bands. Today, drumming for Vesania and Dimmu Borgir and being an active clinician and educator, he remains in the lead of worlds‘ uncompromising drummers.

UNHUMAN INSURRECTION – formed in 2015, risen from the ashes of “Burn of Black” – is an impact of a powerful mix characterized by an aggressive and harsh sound, blended with melodic vocals which emphasize the sonorities.
