After releasing their latest record, Deceivers, last year to critical acclaim, extreme metal masters ARCH ENEMY have returned with a new video for the album track, “Poisoned Arrow“.
The video was produced by Mirko Witzki (Witzki Visions). Watch “Poisoned Arrow” HERE
A collection of 11 tracks that are ruthlessly catchy and mercilessly violent, 2022’s Deceivers stands toe-to-toe with the highlights of the band’s storied catalogue. Roaring to life with “Handshake With Hell”, ARCH ENEMY make it clear they are out for blood, and every track is a hit, from the moody “Poisoned Arrow” to the titanically anthemic “One Last Time”. Sounding more energized than ever, the quintet is operating at the highest level, delivering a maelstrom of diamond-hard riffing wrapped around cinematic melodies, thunderous drumming and towering vocals. ARCH ENEMY has proved, yet again, that they are unstoppable.
Iron Maiden’s Legacy of the Beast free-to-play mobile game is excited to announce a major in-game collaboration, this time with Swedish extreme metal band, ARCH ENEMY!
Following successful collaborations last year, 2022 started with Legacy of the Beast teaming up with Disturbed and then Powerwolf and now Arch Enemy enters the fold.
Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast wanted a character that would fit perfectly into a story with Doomsday Eddie, a post-apocalyptic warrior whose portents of global annihilation went unheard (based on Iron Maiden’s classic track “2 Minutes to Midnight” from their legendary 1984 album Powerslave). The result of this collaboration is a week-long event called ‘Atomic Sunset’. The Queen Beast character is influenced by Arch Enemy’s upcoming single and video for “Sunset Over The Empire”, which will both be released soon, on May 20th. The single can be pre-ordered as a very limited 7inch and pre-saved on digital platforms.
The week-long event will take fans and players on a journey with Eddie and Queen Beast, a regal warrior harnessing the fierce powers of wild animals, striking fear in the hearts of all who oppose her! As they walk through a post-war dystopian wasteland, society at large is witnessing the rise of a mutant species, a creature that is the product of the nuclear war. They are driven to destroy all of what is left of the natural world; human and animal kind. Queen Beast and her companion GreyClaw must work together with Doomsday Eddie to gather survivors and rebuild the community while fighting mutant henchmen. Future generations’ survival lies in their hands.
When asked about hearing Iron Maiden for the first time, Arch Enemy Bassist Sharlee D’Angelo said, “I first heard of Maiden through a compilation album called Metal for Muthas – then a couple of months later I saw them in concert and it blew me away because I’ve never seen a band with that kind of energy and musically it was just, like nothing I’ve ever heard before.”
Lead singer Alissa White-Gluz added, “I find that their stage performances and personas really inspire me too. I remember one of the first times I saw them (IM) perform and I saw Bruce Dickenson basically do a flying jump, over the monitors while singing and landing on his knees in front of the crowd – and I thought what an amazing frontman he is…running around on stage, no matter the song, keeping the notes – I knew that I wanted to be a front person who also puts on a super wild show like that!!”
Over the years the game has expanded to include 25 dungeons and 6 unique Worlds, from the pits of Hell, Ancient Egypt, World War II to the far future, hundreds of characters including 90 Eddies based on classic Maiden album covers. A vast array of enemies – corrupt Demons (Lucifer, Baphomet), Gods (Horus, Osiris, Odin) and Monsters, a bloody Player vs Player Battle Arena and a ruthless Gauntlet feature designed to satisfy new players and hardcore long-term players. The latest feature ‘Clans’ allows players to join forces with their blood brothers to complete team tasks and face off against monstrous Raid Bosses. All to an in-game soundtrack of over 30 Iron Maiden tracks including – “The Trooper”, “Where Eagles Dare”, “Aces High” and more.

Arch Enemy’s founder and chief songwriter Michael Amott comments: “Behold the ‘Sunset Over The Empire’, the 4th single from our upcoming ‘Deceivers’ album! This is a faster song with some manic riffs and a relentless beat that I can envision becoming a ‘hit in the pit’! Lyrically, it’s sadly one of those that seems to ring more true with each and every passing day nowadays… ‘Words turned to war, brother fighting brother, another false truce, as the people die…’. The accompanying video was shot in Poland with the Grupa13 team and doesn’t follow the lyrics slavishly but has a great message and vibe in its own right. Oh, and I’m stoked that we’re releasing ‘Sunset Over The Empire’ as a limited edition physical single on 7″ vinyl!”
Released on May 20th, the Sunset Over The Empire 7″ can be purchased now as
–white vinyl (limited to 1000 copies; available via CM Distro Europe) –transparent orange vinyl (limited to 500 copies; band exclusive)

For fans that can’t wait for the record’s release, the band is now offering a new 7″, Sunset Over The Empire (due out May 20th) – with the title track also appearing on Deceivers.
Arch Enemy‘s founder and chief songwriter Michael Amott comments: “I am thrilled that we are releasing our next single ‘Sunset over the Empire’ not only digitally everywhere as usual, but also as a physical 7″ vinyl record. I’m a big fan of the vinyl format myself and I think this killer looking 7″ will be a nice collector’s item as it’s a limited run. The B-side is an instrumental we’ve never released before on a record, and the A-side is one of my fave tracks off our new upcoming album ‘Deceivers‘!”

“Our new single/video ‘Handshake with Hell’ started off with some riffs and melodies that I thought might be suitable for each other, and when I showed the parts I had to Daniel (Erlandsson, drums), he also felt it had potential. We worked on a demo of it, developing it much further together, and once we had reached a point where we felt it was ready, we sent the instrumental version to Alissa over in Canada. She came back with this really cool approach to the vocals and lyrics that elevated the song even further. To me, it’s a stand-out track on the new ‘ Deceivers‘ album, really showcasing what we are capable of as songwriters and performers in 2022 – it’s definitely one of the new songs I’m dying to play live on tour!”
