ARCH ENEMY will release their upcoming album, “War Eternal”, this June via Century Media Records. The band has recently launched the second part of the Track By Track video with Michael Amott (guitar) and new vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. The video can be seen below:

The band’s new vocalist Alissa White-Gluz jumped so hard on stage that she broke her riser into pieces, resulting in a broken rib when she fell during one of the band’s first 10 shows. She explained in an online posting: “Anyone at that show who saw me body slam through the fucking riser could imagine there would be some damage. But I’m a stubborn fuck and I waited a few shows before going to get x-rays, ultrasounds and blood tests. The damage to my head, arms and legs is just bad bruising, there is no apparent organ damage and no internal bleeding. Unfortunately, there is a compound break on one rib and severe bruising around several others. Good news is that the pieces of the rib are well aligned to heal back in place!” She added: “The doctor forbade me to continue playing shows… But cancelling shows would hurt way worse.”

Swedish death metallers ARCH ENEMY was formed in Halmstad (Sweden) in 1996. Angela Gossow was successful as the band’s lead vocalist from 2000 to 2014, changing extreme metal completely to a new level. However then she decided to “retire” to become the Manager of the band, and contacted THE AGONIST singer Alissa White-Gluz, proposing her to take her place as lead vocalist in ARCH ENEMY. These are the facts in two words. So right away Alissa was involved, together with Michael Amott (on guitars from 1996–present), in the songwriting process for ARCH ENEMY‘s 10th studio album “War Eternal”, which will be released on Century Media Records on June 10th. This album confirms that with Alissa, the band has a new weapon, to open a whole new chapter for Arch Enemy. “War Eternal” includes 13 tracks which offer a nostalgic nod to the past and a stunning example of what’s possible in the future.

Alissa spoke widely about joining the band and how ARCH ENEMY fans have welcomed her. Michael Amott comments: “When approached about doing the Decibel Magazine flexi I immediately knew I wanted to pay tribute to some of my earliest influences in the 80’s Swedish punk scene! “Nitad” and “When The Innocent Die” were recorded in ARCH ENEMY’s rehearsal space and the result is abrasive and extreme, punk as fuck!”

After recently launching a video for their new album’s title track (which has already surpassed 2 million views on YouTube), metal icons ARCH ENEMY are now ready to unleash the second single from their upcoming 9th full-length, “War Eternal”, due out worldwide via Century Media Records (Trooper Entertainment in Japan) on June 9th in Europe and June 10th in North America. Chief song-writer and band leader Michael Amott comments: “‘As The Pages Burn’ almost goes back to the style of writing that I had in the late 90’s. It’s very old school ARCH ENEMY with an almost SLAYER-vibe in the intro/verse and a huge melodic chorus. A bit like ‘The Immortal’ and other AE classics of that time. The middle section is very classical music inspired – a twin guitar part that is a lot fun to play. Alissa wrote the lyrics for the song. This song is an example of what I love about collaborating– in the songwriting, I’m giving her the instrumental, and she comes from a different background, and the two different approaches merge together to form a very interesting result that blew my mind. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the album.”
Front-woman Alissa White-Gluz adds: “‘As The Pages Burn’ is also one of my favorite songs. I think it’s going to be a very fun song to perform live. I really like fast-paced, energetic songs. A lot of the lyrics on the album are coming straight from my brain during sleepless nights. I often wake up in the middle of the night from horrible nightmares and just start writing songs. For whatever reason, I like the lyrics that I get that way, they feel real and uncensored. This song is one that I wrote at 4am in the dark, half asleep. In the morning I woke up and thought, ‘This is cool, I’m going to use this, and I know just the music to put it to’. The musical dynamics in the song are very satisfying to sing to as well. I hope you like it!”
