ATREYU have shared the video for “Super Hero” from their 2018-released album In Our Wake. The track features appearances from Avenged Sevenfold frontman M.Shadows and Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie.
“Our song ‘Super Hero’ was written about what it’s like to be a parent and the vast amount of time, effort, energy, and hard work it takes to be a real-life superhero for your children,” the band says. “The song also has a broader meaning, especially given the current situation the entire world is dealing with. There are many superheroes out there who appear in many forms — namely the first responders, medical personnel, and health care workers who are putting others first as they work to fight COVID-19 and to save lives. We dedicate this song to them.”
Atreyu are working on their eighth album, due out via later this year.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD guitarists Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance are spotlighted in the new episode of “String Theory”, Ernie Ball’s popular web series exploring the sonic origins of music’s most innovative players. At this week’s Loudwire Awards, Avenged Sevenfold were given “Metal Artist of the Year” and “Metal Album of the Year” honors for their critically acclaimed new album THE STAGE. A deluxe version of the album will be released on December 15th.
They recently discussed THE STAGE during “An Evening with Avenged Sevenfold,” a special event held at The Grammy Museum in downtown LA, hosted by Los Angeles Times Pop Music Critic Mikael Wood.
The new version of THE STAGE features 7 additional studio songs + 4 unreleased live tracks recorded during the band’s recent shows at The O2 arena in London. Among the 7 bonus tracks is the band’s stunning cover of the Pink Floyd classic, “Wish You Were Here,” which can be heard HERE. The “Wish You Were Here” companion video can be seen HERE.
Both the digital and physical deluxe versions of THE STAGE can be pre-ordered HERE(note: the CD and vinyl versions of the album will include a special lenticular cover).
Tickets are available for Avenged Sevenfold’s 2018 North American arena headlining tour, set to kick off January 12th at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with special guests Breaking Benjamin and Bullet For My Valentine. The tour will be North America’s introduction to the electrifying Stage spectacle that drew rave reviews in Europe and the UK. After the recent 02 Arena shows, the London Evening Standard lauded Avenged Sevenfold as “a global phenomenon” and wrote that the band “specialized in preposterous fun,” calling the show “royally entertaining.” The Guardian ran a 4-star review of the show in Glasgow, writing, “Underneath retina-scorching screens and giant cosmic cube broadcasting spiraling starfields, the five-piece methodically discharge booming, arena-filling songs…these industrial assemblages of growing riffs and fret-melting solos have a default minor-key menace, yet the overall atmosphere is surprisingly joyous.” But Kerrang! best summed up Avenged Sevenfold’s new live show: “you’ve never seen anything like it.”

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has announced a December 15th release date for the deluxe version of their critically acclaimed album, THE STAGE. This new edition features 7 additional studio songs + 4 unreleased live tracks recorded during the band’s recent shows at The O2 arena in London. Among the 7 bonus tracks is the band’s stunning cover of the Pink Floyd classic, “Wish You Were Here”, which is released and can be heard HERE. About Avenged Sevenfold’s version of “Wish You Were Here,” lead singer M. Shadows says, “This is the song that started us down the rabbit hole with our recent cover recordings. I’ve always loved this song and though I felt it would be impossible to capture the somberness of the original, we approached it with another purpose. There’s a poignancy to the song that seems appropriate with everything going on in the world today. We put a bit of a modern twist on it to reintroduce it at a time when it might help capture what some of us are feeling.”
The deluxe edition is the latest chapter in an innovative album cycle that began 12 months ago when Avenged Sevenfold “surprise-released” THE STAGE, becoming the first-ever rock band to drop an unannounced album in digital and physical form. The band (vocalist M. Shadows, guitarists Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ and drummer Brooks Wackerman) announced the album’s release to millions of surprised fans who had been watching their live-streamed set from the rooftop of the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood, CA. That groundbreaking event saw the quintet give a 3D/360-degree virtual reality performance that enabled fans around the globe to experience Avenged Sevenfold’s electrifying show as if they were there for the first-of-its-kind immersive event.
Months later, the forward-thinking band announced plans to transform THE STAGEinto an evolving body of work by adding a series of new tracks over the course of several months.
Those songs—which began with a scintillating rendition of Mexican folk song “Malagueña Salerosa” —have been previously unavailable for purchase, but fan demand for the tracks brings the album to its current stage as a deluxe release.
In addition to the album’s original 11 tracks, the deluxe version features A7X’s reimagining of Mr. Bungle’s “Retrovertigo,” original track “Dose,” a cover of Del Shannon’s 1961 No. 1 hit, “Runaway” (featuring a guest appearance by Vandals’ guitarist Warren Fitzgerald and lead vocals by Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Zacky Vengeance), the band’s version of The Beach Boys’ 1966 hit, “God Only Knows” and most recently, their rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “As Tears Go By.” The four concert recordings included on the album are title track “The Stage,” “Paradigm,” “Sunny Disposition” and “God Damn.”
Rolling Stone called THE STAGE “epic and adventurous” and “the most aggressively bonkers music of the quintet’s career” and NME, Q, The Guardian, Guitar World, Metal Hammer, Revolver, Metal Injection, Alternative Press, Drum, Total Guitar and Classic Rock are among the myriad press outlets that lauded the album, with the latter calling it “a metal masterpiece.”

AVENGED SEVENFOLD have announced via their official website the departure of drummer Arin Ilejay. Check out the statement below:
“Hello Everyone – We are writing this to inform you all that we will be moving forward without Arin IIejay as our drummer. Arin has been nothing but a positive energy and monster drummer for us over the past 4 years. We love the guy and always will. We are and will always be grateful to him for helping us to move forward through some very dark times. Creatively though, we felt we needed to move in a different direction. Zacky V commented…
“Heres a small sneak peak into Waking the Fallen: Resurrected. We have left no stone unturned in our quest to bring you the archived footage, rare and early recording and demos and live performances of the madness which set the pace for the Avenged Sevenfold we are today. Available on the anniversary of the original release of WTF. Enjoy!”
Take a closer look at ‘Resurrected’s’ brand new content…
• Two new songs, including the lead track ‘Waking The Fallen: Resurrected,’ which had been lost to history before it was discovered buried deep within the original multi-track recordings. Originally intended to make the album as a full song, it was ultimately reworked into a vocal free intro. Later the band drew inspiration from this lost song’s piano intro, building it out into their hit song ‘Beast And The Harlot’ off of their next album ‘City Of Evil’. This song is a previously unknown link between two major eras in the band’s career.
• Four never before heard demos recorded by Thrice’s Teppei Teranishi including ‘Chapter Four,’ ‘Remenissions,’ ‘I Won’t See You Tonight Part 1,’ ‘I Won’t See You Tonight Part 2.’ These early version demos contain alternate lyrics, melodies, and arrangements giving fans a unique and unprecedented behind the scenes look at the evolution of four of the band’s most popular songs.
• Five live versions recorded in 2004 from some of the band’s earliest shows including ‘Chapter Four (Live In Ventura),’ ‘Desecrate Through Reverence (Live In Pomona),’ ‘Eternal Rest (Live In Pomona),’ ‘Unholy Confessions (Live In Ventura),’ ‘Second Heartbeat (Live In Ventura).’ Very little live material from this era of Avenged Sevenfold’s career has ever seen the light of day.
• A 30 minute documentary featuring brand new interviews from band looking back on the time of the lead up, demoing, recording and touring around the ‘Waking The Fallen’ album. The 30 minute film includes personal behind the scenes home movies and photos from the band’s earliest days.
• The original first cut of the ‘Unholy Confessions’ music video.
