Interview By Alison Booth
Legendary English metallers HELL made a huge impact on the metal world with their comeback in 2011, stunning fans with the dark masterpiece “Human Remains”. Many meticulous, theatrical stage shows followed around the world, at festivals and on home soil, the band constantly building an audience of faithful fans. Then followed the demonically heavy “Curse & Chapter” in 2013 and since then fans have been eagerly awaiting to find out what HELL will produce next.
Metal Shock Finland Senior Manager Alison Booth also has a radio show, Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem, every Tuesday from 6PM on http://www.totalrock.com. She recently had a chat with David, as part of the show’s third birthday celebrations, prior to HELL‘s appearance at The Forum in London on 7th December with metal giants ACCEPT. David spoke of what’s going on with the band at present, with news of the next album. The full show will soon be online at this location and you can listen to the chat with David on the audio player below.
Speaking of the last HELL show in 2015 David stated:
“It’s a good way to end the year for us anyway, instead of sneaking off with a whimper, we’re gonna end it with a bang. We’re slipping in a track we’ve only played once before, for the die-hards and we’re just trying to make it all killer, no filler as usual!”
David gave an update of progress with the next album:
“We’ve retreated to our own corners and we’re secretly recording and writing things ourselves, then shyly playing them to each other and saying ‘what do you think of this?’
So we have a lot of material in the pipeline and we’ve just started laying down some demo type behaviour. Then we pull it apart, see what’s right with it and what could be better and just keep chipping at it that way.
In a way we’d like to have got it out early in the spring, but we just don’t know. We won’t rush it and we certainly won’t put anything out if it’s not ready.”
