The BLOODSTOCK team have made the following announcement:
Bloodstock Radio is launched on Saturday, December 1. This is a rebranding for TotalRock, one of the most respected and pioneering of rock/metal radio stations.
But it’s not just a case of TotalRock under a new name, because it will see an overhaul of the broadcasting schedule, with some major names coming on board to present weekly shows. Metal Hammer Editor Alexander Milas will present a show from 4pm every Friday, while Iron Fist Editor Louise Brown has a three-hour show every Wednesday from 1pm.
There’s also a welcome return for some of the most popular DJs in TotalRock’s twelve year history. Mighty Matt Mason is back every Friday from 9pm, while Talita Twoshoes and Feebz launch the week each Monday from 7am.
Joining this stellar cast are names already well known to Bloodstock Festival devotees. Simon Hall kick’s off proceedings at 9am on Saturday with his regular ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ roundup from Bloodstock HQ. Black Diamond’s Metal Mayhem happens from 10am each Tuesday, while DJ Beerman is on at 9pm the same day. December 1 – the day the music’s reborn. Louder, prouder and Bloodier!
Swedish metallers WOLF had a very successful UK tour with EVILE last month. METAL SHOCK FINLAND’s Blackdiamond caught up with them for an interview which can be listened to again at this location.
The band are soon to make their first visit to India to headline the Harley Rock Riders Festival and will be joined by several Indian bands including horror metallers ALBATROSS. WOLF vocalist Niklas Stalvind contributed to the vocals on the ALBATROSS song “Uncle Sunny At The Tavern.”
WOLF also recently brought our their own brand of hot sauce named “WOLF’S BLOOD”. It’s Scoville rating is 666,000 units and makes you howl! Read more about it at this location.
Blackdiamond filmed several videos of WOLF on stage at The Corporation, Sheffield. They can be viewed below:
Richard Ofsoski is a musician from Brisbane, Australia. He is the founder of the METAL FOR CANCER project, an organisation devoted to raising funds for cancer research on behalf of the metal community.
In 2011, Richard decided to invite many different artists from the world of metal to unite together, going by the name of the Dragon Slayer All Star Project, creating a very special song, “Let’s Unite In Rock”. I had a chat with Richard about the project, read what he had to say below:
Hi Richard and welcome to Metal Shock Finland, how are you today?
Very good thank you hope you are well yourself !
The whole Metal For Cancer project was conceived by you, can you tell our readers about how it all started?
MFC started as a result of losing my wife to cancer and wanting to contribute towards the battle against this nasty disease. It was a different approach to raising funds and is still developing somewhat.
What are your thoughts on the whole process of the project, from its inception to getting all the musicians on board and releasing the Dragon Slayer All Star Project single?
It was great ! A fantastic all star song written by Mr Henrik Flyman of the band Evil Masquerade and a great contingent of metal musicians from all over the world contributing their services for free. Also the graphic artists and webmasters who contributed.
The Metal For Cancer single “Let’s Unite In Rock,” which was written by Henrik Flyman, and you were also one of the artists on the recording, is very anthemic with a great metal sound. Can you tell me how you feel about the finished product and what it means to you?
Great song with great lyrics only available to MFC. Fantastic job by Mr Flyman and a the other musicians. Just wish it could get more exposure somehow but we are working on that.
Do you keep in touch with any of the musicians involved and would you make a song in this way again?
Of course I keep in touch with quite a few through Facebook mainly .Have developed some good cyberspace friendships. Ive been thinking of perhaps doing an All Star version of Deep Purple’s Smoke on the water and have had some musicians keen on the idea.
As well as “Let’s Unite In Rock”, there are also several other songs available to buy on the Metal For Cancer website, from bands such as Empires Of Eden and Eclipse Hunter. What are the next plans for Metal For Cancer?
A compilation CD is something Ive been thinking about and making it available as a physical CD as well as digitally. But we need to work out a marketing plan first perhaps setting up a stand at festivals could be an option plus available from the website. T Shirts would be cool also as we have had some great graphic artists contribute some cool designs. All these things would be great but we need to be able to sell them and that’s the main area we have to look at.
Last year, you attended the opening of two world class research laboratories and also met Professor Ian Frazer (creator of the cervical cancer vaccine). How was that experience and what did you gain from seeing the work being done?
It was an absolute honour to meet him. People speak of their heroes, idols etc but this was a real true hero. A nice caring down to earth man who dedicates his life to fighting this disease. Not only did he create the cervical cancer vaccine but hes on the verge of a breakthrough with melanoma as well and its up to us to help him continue this great work !!
You also have your own band Sedition, can you tell me more about that and what’s happening at the moment, or any other projects you are involved in?
Sedition are no longer active due to the founding member and main songwriter being sick and unable to continue. I do my solo albums and also have a new side project I am currently recording with.
What are views on the metal scene in Australia today?
Its not huge but there is an underground scene. It’s strange because there are some world class bands who are more well known in Europe than here. There are some festivals starting up so hopefully that may help.
As your final words, please feel free to leave a message for the Metal Shock Finland audience.
Please support this great cause we need as many people as possible to help spread the word and purchase the music available. Cancer is a disease that affects everyone in some way and needs to be stopped and this is one way the metal community can unite and do its part in helping defeat this disease
Thanks for your time Richard!
Thank you!

Also Blackdiamond had an interview for Part One of this project with Henrik Flyman from EVIL MASQUERADE about his role in the METAL FOR CANCER project You can find the interview at this location.
It is a year since we last saw WOLF in the UK and this month they are back to shake our eardrums with their Swedish heavy metal, supporting EVILE.
Blackdiamond from METAL SHOCK FINLAND caught up with Viper, Raptor, Tornado and Demon (A.K.A. Niklas, Richard, Anders and Simon) at The Corporation in Sheffield this week and conducted an interview with three of the four “Wolves.”
The show was extremely heavy, extremely loud with excellent metal tunes which left my ears ringing well into the following day!
Read below for some excerpts from our conversation:
Simon discussing WOLF‘s plans for next year said: “The main focus will be to sit down and work on the new album. We’re also playing Prog Power USA anda festival in Spain, but our main goal is to make the album, then a big tour afterwards.”
When asked about the forthcoming show in India, Simon Johansson and Anders Modd said the following: “We don’t really know what to expect. It could be good or it could be excellent (laughs). It’s arranged by Harley Davidson and Rolling Stone Magazine India. We have high expectations and we’re also looking forward to eating some curry and drinking some Indian beer.”
When discussing the impact of illegal downloads Richard Holmgren stated “It can affect us in a good and bad way. The bad way is of course it’s bad for business and people don’t get paid for what they put in. The good way, maybe 1000 people a week could get to hear WOLF through downloading, then they buy a ticket and come to the shows and also buy merchandise. You have to see it in the long term, the bands will get something back from it eventually.”
I was also told some exciting news about a new product from WOLF in the shape of a hot sauce, going by the awesome name of WOLF’S BLOOD! It is being produced in Austria and the band are looking right now at the best way of delivering it to the fans. The guys said “We are working on some fun stuff that we can’t talk about yet, but we do have a hot sauce coming out called WOLF’S BLOOD. It’s 666 thousand Scoville strength and it makes you howl, don’t drink it!!”

Check out the following video footage filmed by Blackdiamond at the show:
Blackdiamond of Metal Shock Finland has recently conducted an interview with bassist Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY) prior to starting his UK tour. Some of this conversation can be read below.
When asked about what the fans can expect from Marco’s tour starting today, he said – ‘Gonna play it by ear, we have 2 and a half hours worth of music so I’m gonna pick and choose. I think I’ll focus more on my original stuff cos that’s one of the reasons I’m out here. There’s a couple of things I’ll play that I totally love from Ted Nugent that I know the fans will love.’
Discussing future plans, Marco had this to say – ‘I’d like to do a power trio project, I think that’s in the works right now, without saying too much. That would be my next collaboration. We’ve been talking about this for a while and all my instincts tell me it’s going to happen, so that’s the next thing to look out for.‘
