DJ Blackdiamond of Bloodstock Radio recently conducted an interview with Kev Bower from legendary English metal band HELL, which was aired on Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem show today. The interview is in two parts and can be listened to on the Soundcloud links below.
When discussing the new album that the band are working on, Kev had the following to say:
“”Andy Sneap and myself have worked very hard. We’ve spent time in the studio and recorded everything as demos. We’re actually learning to play all this stuff as a band and get it really tight as a band, before we actually commit any of it to a proper recording.
One of the great things about Human Remains is that it sounds like a band playing, because it was and that’s one of the things we’re very keen not to lose on the second album.
We’re about 90% of the way there with the songs.
As the band’s principal songwriter, the pressure that I’ve felt on my shoulders over the past year or so, to deliver something that’s at least equal to that, has been enormous really. It’s taken a lot of courage and commitment to spend literally days in the studio, putting together complex keyboard and orchestral parts, then deleting the whole lot because I didn’t think it was good enough.
We’re really excited about it and think people will love the second album. It will definitely be a recognisable HELL album. It’ll be a little bit darker, both in terms of its subject matter and its lyrical content and some of the music.”
