CORELLA are excited to announce their second album, ‘A Beautiful World To Lose,’ set for release on September 18th via FLG. To mark the announcement, the rapidly rising Manchester band has also released their brand new single “Simple Life.”
“Simple Life” is a propulsive indie anthem celebrating the joys of everyday living. Coming armed with an intoxicating bounce and an inescapable chorus, “Simple Life” is a standout feel-good track from the forthcoming album. In its complete form, the album takes a piercing glare into the current state of the world alongside a deep look into human emotion and being.
The single is accompanied by a brilliant video depicting an ancient caveman venturing into present-day Manchester, propelled by the bop of “Simple Life” as he stumbles across the joys of the weekend. He indulges in ice creams, sinks pints in the pub, while also sharing his own method of release by introducing some weekend ramblers to a mind-expanding psychedelic experience.
“Simple Life” follows the release of lead single and album opener “Rewire,” a blistering rock track that tore out the blocks in March and tapped into the political discontent affecting both sides of the Atlantic.
Regarding “Simple Life,” frontman and guitarist Joel Smith comments:
“We really leaned into the nostalgic indie feel with this track. Life moves fast, and in the chaos of it all, we sometimes miss the simple pleasures. It’s the small things in life that are the most important, and that’s what this song is a reminder of. We’re really excited to play this live, and we think it’s going to be a fan favourite.”

Produced by Grammy-winning Jason Perry (The Molotovs, McFly, Don Broco), ‘A Beautiful World To Lose’ finds CORELLA performing with a new ferocity and sense of purpose. They have taken their formative indie influences and honed them into something new and razor-sharp. Their latest circuitry buzzes with a new energy and darker sound, like lightning in a bottle; this Northern powerhouse is ready to explode.
Regarding the album, Joel says:
“It definitely sounds fiercer than the last one, and a lot has happened since we released our first album. We’re writing more for ourselves this time, but we also hope there’s plenty that listeners will be able to relate to. These lyrics have more grit to them, more heart, and we knew we had to be willing to make ourselves more vulnerable.”
Bassist Ben Henderson notes the darker undertone to this record, in its themes of loss, heartbreak, and disillusionment:
“A lot of the songs touch heavier and more aggressive, while others lean into that vulnerability we were reaching for. It’s been a huge learning curve, but I definitely feel like we got there.”
Take “What’s The Use,” a cathartic track for a generation’s frustration and apathy over the things that are out of their control, while “Wolf” showcases a confident swagger but, behind closed doors, is full of insecurities.
“Thunder Strike,” written with Kieran Shudall of Circa Waves, is a menacing track highlighting the maelstrom of anxiety, adrenaline, fear, and excitement that plagues bands as they chase success. A mindset which permeates further on a wider scale on the searing “Bitter End” representing, “that restless drive to chase something bigger, exploring the highs, chaos, and obsession that come with wanting more out of life,” as Joel says.
The band is at their most vulnerable on the likes of “Lost A Friend” and “All I Want,” with the tracks dissecting grief and loss, the difficulty of letting go, the memories that stay with you, and learning to carry someone’s absence without losing yourself along the way.
“It’s easy to feel like the odds are stacked against you, like the fight is never over,” Joel says. “But we really believe that hard work pays off, provided you’ve got each other’s backs. We definitely tapped into that on ‘A Beautiful World To Lose,’ the fight is there. You’ve got to keep going.”
