Durban-based musician, MC, and entertainer Dave Imrie returns with an emotionally charged new single titled Always Your Home, dropping on June 5th — a heartfelt anthem about love, loyalty, protection, and being a safe place for the people who matter most.
Known across South Africa for his energetic live performances, charismatic stage presence, and ability to connect with audiences from all walks of life, Dave has built a respected career performing at corporate events, weddings, festivals, sporting events, and private functions throughout the country. With Always Your Home, however, he offers listeners a far more personal side of himself.
Inspired by his children and his hopes for the meaning of relationships, the song carries a deeply human message about standing beside one another through life’s darkest moments.
“Always Your Home is a song about being someone’s safe place in a world that can feel heavy and uncertain,” says Dave. “It’s about love, protection, loyalty, and finding peace with someone — the kind of connection that feels like coming home no matter what life throws at you.”

At its core, the single explores both strength and vulnerability, reminding listeners that real love is not built on perfection, but on unwavering support through every storm, silence, and season of life.
“I wrote this song as a man who life hasn’t always been kind to,” Dave explains. “It’s a reminder that we aren’t always defined by what happens to us, but by who stands next to us as we go through it. I wrote this as a father to my beautiful children as my promise to them.”
The songwriting process began simply, with lyrics and an acoustic guitar structure before evolving onto piano. From there, the track slowly grew into a textured and atmospheric production layered with ambient electric guitar tones and spacious instrumentation designed to let the song “breathe.”
“I created the words first and then began with a basic structure on acoustic guitar before moving to piano,” Dave says. “After finding the melody, I added a simple beat and the song evolved naturally from there. The thinking behind the production was to create open space within the song.”
Dave initially recorded all the parts himself in his studio as scratch tracks before collaborating with producer Tanner Wareham of Qkumba Club to bring the final version to life. Together, they spent months carefully refining each element of the song.
One unexpected highlight of the recording process came during the vocal sessions.
“The funny part about this process is that the vocal take we ended up using was recorded in one take,” he shares.
Described by Dave in five words — Connection. Commitment. Safety. Love. Trust. — Always Your Home delivers a sincere and emotionally resonant listening experience that reflects both personal growth and authentic storytelling.
With this release, Dave Imrie continues to evolve as not only a dynamic entertainer, but also a songwriter unafraid to explore the deeper emotional truths that connect us all.
