The biggest name on the Indian metal scene, DEMONIC RESURRECTION, have been a force in the metal world since their inception in the year 2000, releasing their debut album “Demonstealer” only nine months later. Their brand of demonic metal with vocalist and guitarist Demonstealer at the helm, has developed over the years, resulting in more recognition for the band outside of their home country. As with most bands, they have been through various line-up changes, but kept moving forward. Film maker Sam Dunn (Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey, Iron Maiden: Flight 666) featured DEMONIC RESURRECTION in his documentary ‘Global Metal’. The band went on to support the likes of AMON AMARTH and OPETH and they were also awarded the Metal Hammer Golden God for ‘Global Metal’ in 2010.
DEMONIC RESURRECTION recently released their latest album “The Demon King” while touring the UK. As well as performing at Les-Fest and Sonisphere, the band also took part in the UK ‘Thrash Invasion’ Tour with ARTILLERY and ONSLAUGHT, before going on to Wacken Open Air in Germany. Blackdiamond caught up with Demonstealer at the show in Sheffield on 18th July.

Discussing the difference between English and Indian metal fans, Demonstealer stated:
“There’s actually a huge difference, one being the age group. The fans in India are much younger, between the ages of 15-25, whereas here you have a much older audience. For this first tour it’s more like listening to us and seeing what we have to offer and in India it’s kind of break out the mosh pit from the first song! It’s a little bit different, but as long as people enjoy the music, at the end of the day passionate fans are passionate fans.”
Demonstealer expressed his thoughts on the fan’s reactions to “The Demon King” and revealed more about its content:
” So far the reaction we’ve been seeing online is very good from fans, very positive, and at the shows people have bought the album after hearing us play the songs. It’s going down well with people and that’s a good thing. The line-up that recorded the album was with our old guitarist Daniel Rego and he was with the band for a good five years. So I think the band chemistry was a little better and it was more cohesive as an album, it’s sounds more like the evolution of a band, rather than being just another album in your repertoire. You can see the change in the songwriting, even in the sound and it’s starting to sound more like Demonic Resurrection. We decided to write a new story for this one and the basic gist of the album lyrically is about the balance between good and evil. Does evil need to exist for good to exist and can they exist without one another. It’s the story of the resurrection of the Demon King, an ancient demon who has been asleep for centuries and he disrupts the balance of good and evil in the world and God decides to intervene and bring back the balance. What happens at the end, we leave you to listen to the album and figure out.”

Indian metal veterans DEMONIC RESURRECTION have just been announced as the most recent addition to the line-up at Sonisphere Festival UK along with Centiment, The Struts, Scholars and Boy Jumps Ship.
Demonic Resurrection will be playing on the 4th of July on the Satellite stage. The band was scheduled to play at Sonisphere in 2011 but were unable to make the trip after being denied UK visas by the British High Commission.
Commented frontman Demonstealer: “It’s very hard to express in words how overjoyed we are to be playing at Sonisphere. After our visas being rejected in 2011 we were unable to play the festival and we were gutted so it’s almost like everything coming full circle. This couldn’t have come at a better time for us, our new album ‘The Demon King’ releases on 13th July and we’re stoked to debut material from it at the festival. The line-up for Sonisphere this year is outstanding and it’s definitely a honour to watch Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Dream Theatre and Anthrax and the countless other bands. This is going to be legend – wait for it- dary.”
