Norwegian metal legends ENSLAVED will mark a genre-defining 25 years together with a special ‘Spinning Wheel Ritual’ show at the 12th Damnation Festival.
They will be joined by Californian powerviolence trio NAILS and Australian progressive death sextet NE OBLIVISCARIS at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
The event will also mark debut Damnation shows for Pennsylvanian grind outfit FULL OF HELL and critically acclaimed Texas prog rockers OCEANS OF SLUMBER.
Enslaved said:
“It is with great pride we announce our first ever appearance at Damnation. The festival has become a well-known name for bands, and now it is finally time for us to show its audience what we are about. “We’re only just back from a magical weekend in London; London By Norse was nothing short of unbelievable! We hope to see those who attended, and many more, at Damnation Festival – our only UK appearance for the rest of 2016. “Be there and let’s all be damned.”
Nails are also planning a brutal assault on Leeds. The band said:
“Damnation Festival is only one day, but it is all quality.
“Short and sweet – similar to our focus with Nails – this is why we feel attracted to the event and we’re proud and honored that Damnation Festival will mark first appearance on UK soil since the release of our new album, You Will Never Be One Of Us.”
Tickets for the 12th instalment of Damnation Festival are on sale now, priced £38.
Festival Director Gavin McInally said: “Since 2005, we’ve consistently delivered solid and diverse line-ups which make a mockery of our ticket price and this year we want to go one further by booking challenging bills across our four stages, starting with five bands who’ve never played Damnation Festival before.
“Enslaved, Nails, Ne Obliviscaris, Full of Hell and Oceans of Slumber are the first taste of what’s to come in 2016, from hateful grind to hauntingly melodic prog, and fans can expect much more over the coming months, with 22 bands still to be announced.”

To celebrate the launch of ENSLAVED‘s headlining tour through the U.S. and Canada with YOB and ECSTATIC VISION on March 5th in conjunction with the upcoming North American release of their the thirteenth studio album on March 10th, Norwegian progressive extreme metallers ENSLAVED have made In Times available for streaming in its entirety on the Nuclear Blast YouTube channel:
ENSLAVED share the following about their new album: “As always, it is hard to formulate an exact direction ENSLAVED is or is not heading in with the new album. This duality is part of the essence of the band: The ability to maintain consistency and a strong identity and, at the same time, surprise both the oldest fans and even ourselves with new musical directions. The new material is darker and rawer, more aggressive and direct, yet continues the exploration deeper into progressive, softer, and more melodic territories with at times complex song structures, combined with unusually immediate (for ENSLAVED, at least) elements. The high level of energy in the songs reflects both an inspired and an ever-harder working band that keeps pushing their own and their associated genres’ limits.”

In Times is brimming with provocative moments that simultaneously capture the raw fury of the band’s early work and blast the listener into a fully realized future that’s alive with matchless sounds and sights.” – Matt Solis, Decibel Magazine (April 2005 issue)
