The Danish thrash metal band Essence is currently in the studio, where they are recording their new album. The recording takes place in the infamous Abyss Studio together with producer Peter Tägtgren.
About the recording ESSENCE says:
“It is a great honour for us to work with Peter. It was natural for us to pick Peter as producer for this album, as his approach to both music and sound fits perfectly with our new material. We can’t wait to hear the final result and to show all you guys out there how Essence anno 2012 sounds like. Even though we have just started the recording, it is clear to us that the result will be better than we ever could imagine!”
ESSENCE will be recording from February ‘till March in Abyss Studio with Peter Tägtgren and updates from the sessions can be found at Facebook.com/EssenceMetal. Furthermore, ESSENCE is currently planning their live activity for 2012.
The Danish band ESSENCE, who has just left their home country of Denmark to tour Europe, can now announce a new partner. The band has signed a contract with the Danish company, 3RD TSUNAMI AGENCY. ESSENCE has this to say about the new partner:

ESSENCE is currently on a European tour together with Polish death metal band VADER, before returning to Denmark again to perform at this year’s edition of the ROSKILDE FESTIVAL. These shows will be some of the first for the band with a new line up, as Norwegian bass player ATLAS has joined the ranks. Besides ESSENCE, 3RD TSUNAMI AGENCY’s roster contains bands like VOLBEAT, AMON AMARTH, NAPALM DEATH og HATEBREED.
The Danish thrash metal heads in ESSENCE, which is currently working on the sequel to their successful debut album, LOST IN VIOLENCE, is ready with a new announcement. From their headquarters in AALBORG, DENMARK, the band reveals that they will perform at this year’s edition of the ROSKILDE FESTIVAL, together with IRON MAIDEN, AUTOPSY and SOILWORK.
ESSENCE will be main support for Swedish death metal legends IN FLAMES, when they guests a sold out VOXHALL in Denmark on May 31st. The band also announce that they have put their debut album up for LIVE STREAMING on the internet for streaming (www.deezer.com/fr/music/essence/lost-in-violence-910095#music/essence/lost-in-violence-910095 ), while in the same breath reveals, that bass player Tobias Nefer in the future will be replaced by the Norwegian, Benjamin Atlas. Benjamin will act as the bands live bass player, until they find a permanent fourth member.

“It’s a huge honour for us to play at the 2011 Roskilde Festival and in particular with In Flames! Dreams can come true and we enjoy every second of this! We choose to put Lost in Violence up for online streaming, so all who feel like it can listen to the songs, because we want to spread our music to as many people as possible. Regarding future live activities: ESSENCE will be European tour with Polish death machine VADER June, performing at VAGOS OPEN AIR in Portugal in August with OPETH, MORBID ANGEL and NEVERMORE, and the band will be playing at SPOT FESTIVAL in AARHUS, DENMARK, on Friday 27th. ESSENCE will return to DENMARK during autumn and winter 2011, and begin the recordings of their second album in Sweden in February 2012, together with PETER TÄGTGREN in ABYSS STUDIO. The Danish thrash metal band ESSENCE, which currently is on THE NEW ERA TOUR in Denmark, can now publish their first international tour. It happens as support for the powerful Polish death machine, VADER, on their SUMMER CAMPAIGN 2011 tour in June. The full line-up for the tour will also include Brazilian KRISIUN and Belgian RESISTANCE.

“The band begins recording sessions on February 13, 2012 and is expected to be finished in late March 2012. The album will be produced and recorded in Sweden’s legendary ABYSS STUDIO (IMMORTAL, CHILDREN OF BODOM, DIMMU BORGIR) BY PAIN and HYPOCRISY mastermind, PETER TÄGTGREN. Afterwards the album will be mastered at BLACK LOUNGE STUDIO by SCAR SYMMETRY guitarist JONAS KJELLGREN.
In connection with the publication of these recordings, ESSENCE states that, ‘we feel incredibly honoured and grateful that Peter will produce our next album. He has influenced European metal in a way rarely seen through his work as producer and especially through his music in Pain and Hypocrisy. We believe that he has made some of the best metal and best productions the metal community has heard, and therefore we are very glad that he wants to work with us. “
They continue further, pointing that, “with the recordings in 2012 we will start a new, challenging and different chapter in Essence’ musical universe. It is important to us that our music is evolving and changing in a healthy way. Music should grow with the band and evolve alongside with the natural development which the band members go through. ESSENCE can be experienced live Danish THE NEW ERA TOUR which starts on Friday 4th of March. Besides, the band will soon reveal their first European tour and several national and international festival appearances.
“Blood Culture”, the new video from Danish thrash metallers ESSENCE, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band’s debut album, “Lost In Violence”, which will be released on February 25 via Belgium’s Ultimhate Records.
The CD was recorded at Medley Studios (ARTILLERY, PRINCE, RADIOHEAD, MARY J. BLIGE, KELLY CLARKSON, THE CARDIGANS) in Copenhagen and was produced and mixed by Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Dave Mustaine, Mike Tramp). The mastering duties were handled by Nikolaj Vinten at Vinten Mastering (COLDPLAY, D-A-D, DIZZY MIZZ LIZZY). The cover artwork was created by Justin Osbourn from Slash Design (ABORTED, SUICIDE SILENCE, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, MAROON, SKELETONWITCH).
Commented the band: “We are very satisfied that the video finally is done and that the final outcome became as we wanted it to be, though it has been a very cold and rough experience to record the film. The lyrics deal with the subject of using your life to do worthless actions and thereby waste precious time, which you will never get back. The episode in the video could be any given unfortunate situation and we hope that the viewers will enjoy watching it.”
