Heavy Television’s Damo Musclecar conducted an interview with GWAR Frontman DAVE BROCKIE a.k.a. ODERUS URUNGUS at Soundwave 2014 in Melbourne, Australia, On February 28. Dave talked about the Tony Abbott decapitation at Soundwave, Koalas, and new album Battle Maximus. Watch the interview below:

An official post on the GWARwebsite has confirmed the death of frontman Dave Brockie. Dave’s persona in the band was as Oderus Urungus.
Also, according to Metalhammer.co.uk the band’s manager Jack Flanaganm released a statement confirming the sad news:
“It is with a saddened heart, that I confirm my dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of GWAR passed away at approximately 6:50 PM EST Sunday March 23,2014,” states Jack. “His body was found Sunday by his band mate at his home in Richmond, VA. Richmond authorities have confirmed his death and next of kin has been notified. A full autopsy will be performed. He was 50 years old, born August 30, 1963.
“My main focus right now is to look after my band mates and his family. More information regarding his death shall be released as the details are confirmed.”

The Music.comau have reported that in response to recent unconfirmed rumours circulating online, the management of popular thrash metal band GWAR will be making an official announcement at 4am AEDT Tuesday morning, theMusic.com.au has learned.
Rumours are circulating that the band’s frontman David Brockie – who performs as Oderus Urungus – has passed away, though we stress there is no confirmation at this stage.
Brockie and Gwar had just completed a huge tour of Australia where they were, without a doubt, the talk of the Soundwave Festival. Their show this time around featured the frontman decapitating an effigy of Prime Minister Tony Abbott, which stirred up some fairly passionate disapproval from some groups.
As they continued to prepare the Scumship for war, the unstoppable force known as GWAR has announced two Australian headline shows in addition to their appearances at this year’s Soundwave Festival. The first show is set for Wednesday, February 26th in Sydney at The Factory Theater and the second show is set for the following night Thursday, February 27th in Melbourne at 170 Russell. Supporting the Scumdogs on these two dates of devastation are AMON AMARTH, SATYRICON and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER.
“The sickest, heaviest, most beastly bands of this years Soundwave will be joining forces to create the most hideous noise ever,” said notorious asshole Oderus Urungus, lead singer of GWAR and despoiler of the planet Remulak. “It’s an amazing line-up and I fully expect to see mounds of flaming corpses where once stood smiling fans.”

After playing the gigantic Soundwave Festival in Australia and a couple of special headline dates, GWAR will travel north to play two exclusive shows in Japan, where legions of GWAR fans have been waiting patiently for years for their chance to die in the presence of their hulking metal overlords. Their wishes shall at last come true on Thursday, March 6th at Big Cat in Osaka, Japan, and Friday, March 7th at Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo. Tickets are on sale now.

GWAR have announced they will be bringing the most insane spectacle in rock n’ roll all the way from Antarctica to the Land of the Rising Sun. After 28 years of relentless touring, recording and general mayhem, GWAR is finally playing Japan.
“A lot of people think we have played there already because of our album, Live at Mt. Fuji,” said lead front-thing Oderus Urungus. “But that was in fact recorded in the future!”

Tickets for the shows will be available during the Creative Man pre-sale January 13th – 17th. There will also be a presale opportunity on Japan’s most important metal radio program, Power Rock Today, hosted by Masa Ito on January 18th. The local Ticketmaster pre-sale will run from January 19th – 24th here, and the general public on sale begins January 25th.
GWAR will bring their full show, featuring all the carnage, spew, and metallic mayhem that has enslaved legions of fans in North America and beyond. This of course means spontaneous beheadings and disembowelments shall be the order of the day, and a bloody attack by mutant cyborg Sawborg Destructo is sure to occur. GWAR will certainly fight back with their pulsing spew-cannon, the Biledriver, and Oderus has pledged to “blow wad everywhere” creating legions of mutated sex slaves to spread the disease of GWAR across the entire country. Even more alarming are the continued sightings of GWAR’s mighty pet Tyrannosaurus Rex, Gor-Gor, which have been coming ever closer to the region.
“But the biggest reason we are going there is to reward all of those loyal and patient Japanese GWAR fans with what they have been yearning for in their blackest of dreams…an actual GWAR show,” proclaims Oderus Urnugus.
