MYSTIC PROPHECY release new lyric video and strictly limited, handcrafted, crystal clear 7” vinyl for the song “Hail to the King”. The track is taken from the band’s very successful 11th album “Metal Division”, released in January this year, which made it to number 20 in the official German charts and received consistently excellent reviews from the press.
This special edition 7” vinyl includes the epic metal hymn “Hail To The King”, which is dedicated to Alexander the Great (where according to Metal Hammer Germany “the music combined with the lyrics of the song, form a sacred alliance”) on side A and the ballad-like mid-tempo hymn “Here Comes The Winter”, that gradually evolves into a catchy groove-monster filled with melodic hooks on side B! Two real highlights in a compact deluxe package!
The band has also released a “making of” video to give fans an insight on how this special handcrafted 7” vinyl single was made! Watch below.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD has released the animated series based around the band’s recently issued sixth album, “Hail To The King”. The series consists of six episodes and is available on Machimina‘s HappyHour channel on YouTube (see all six episodes below). The series serves as a prologue and back story for the group’s mobile game, “Hail To The King: Deathbat”, with M. Shadows saying, “We felt this was the best way to tell the story and give you all an idea about the type of game we are creating.”
The “Hail To The King” series was directed by Jon Schnepp, producer of the Adult Swim animated show “Metalocalypse”.
Both the series and game tell the story of AVENGED SEVENFOLD’s fictional mascot, the Deathbat.
The game will debut sometime in early 2014. Shadows said about it, “We wanted to bring the story of the Deathbat to life and allow you to control its destiny. While the game stands on its own in terms of the story and game play, we still wanted to add in some extras for our fans.”
The band recorded seven brand new songs for the game, which will also include 16 pieces of never-before-seen artwork from all the group’s albums that players can unlock.
“Hail To The King” sold 159,000 copies in its first week of release, giving the California band their second straight chart-topper after 2010’s “Nightmare”.

Produced by Mike Elizondo, Hail To The King is the follow up to the band’s 2010 release, Nightmare, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, Hard Rock Chart and Digital Chart.

“Hail To The King” will be released on August 27. The long-awaited follow-up to 2010’s “Nightmare” was once again produced by Mike Elizondo and is the first to be wholly written without drummer and key songwriter James “The Rev” Sullivan, who died in December 2009. Sullivan has since been replaced by Arin Ilejay, a former member of CONFIDE.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD has announced the “Hail To The King” tour — a massive headlining U.S. arena tour to take place this October and the band’s first full scale American tour since 2011. The run of dates will kick off in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, October 3 and wrap up on October 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Supporting the band on all dates will be special guests DEFTONES and GHOST B.C.
