Hammerfall – exclusive Glory to the Brave Show
HAMMERFALL are proud to announce their performance at the 25th anniversary of the 2014 Wacken Open Air. And the show won’t be a standard one! Oscar Dronjak explains: “It’s very fitting that, when Wacken celebrates its 25th anniversary, they will get a proper “Glory To The Brave” anniversary show. This will be a throwback show to the European gig that launched it all for us: Wacken Open Air 1997. The set list will consist of all the songs from the first album and we’ll of course add some newer songs at the end. We will do this very unique show at Wacken and nowhere else, so if you miss it, you missed it.”
And here are the x-mas winners from the 4th of december 2013:
Carola J – Kiel
Kathrin T – Büchen
Daniel K – Itzehoe
Mike K – Neumünster

All winners were already informed by mail!
Tomorrow we will announce the next band and xmas winners!
Two years ago, Swedish Heavy Metal Templars of HAMMERFALL announced a creative break after celebrating their 15th anniversary of their legendary debut »Glory To The Brave«. “We are taking a pause to ensure that we have another 15 years ahead of us”, said Oscar Dronjak back then. “The plan is to use the year off to recharge our batteries and come back more vital than ever with a new album in 2014″, added singer Joacim Cans.
HAMMERFALL’s anniversary show in Dalhalla was recorded and released afterwards on DVD, followed by the final show at the Wacken Open Air. The German festival was the first show HAMMERFALL ever did outside of Sweden, and marked the beginning of the long and passionate relationship the band has enjoyed with the German metal fans. And where the story started, the first chapter ended, there will also be the return: HAMMERFALL are proud to announce their performance at the 25th anniversary of the 2014 Wacken Open Air.
In August 2014 also the new and yet untitled studio album of HAMMERFALL will be released. There will also be a single – released on vinyl and digitally – upfront in June. Oscar Dronjak reveals: “We’ve all kept ourselves busy with various projects of a musical nature, but, man, it feels good to finally announce that we’re going to release a new HAMMERFALL album next year! The album is set for an August release, and we have already begun writing songs for it. It’s always difficult to tell which direction we will end up going in when you’re in the middle of it, but it feels like this will be a mix of the very best of what we have done over the years. The time off has given us perspective on a lot of things, and the new material seems to reflect this. We’re all super excited to get this going again and bring you a revitalized and reenergized HAMMERFALL!”
This new album will mark a return to Fredrik Nordström, who worked with the band in their early days. Joacim Cans explains: “It’s a great honor to have Fredrik Nordström back as the main producer for HAMMERFALL. As the father and founder of “The Gothenburg Sound” as well as the producer of »Glory To The Brave« and »Legacy Of Kings« we are confident that he will take our music to new and yet unreached levels”.
James Michael who had co-produced the band’s latest studio album »Infected« will once again take over the vocal recordings: “In order to maintain the high vocal standard set on »Infected« we will return to USA and record with multitalented SIXX:AM vocalist James Michael. Never have I experienced such great set-up and environment as when we recorded the previous album. Even though things will be different this time around since he is re-locating in Los Angeles, I am damn sure he will make my vocal chord deliver like never before”
This won’t be the only return to the bands roots. The artwork of the new record will be created by no one else, but Andreas Marschall, who actually was the founder of Hector, to be seen on »Glory To The Brave« and many other great HAMMERFALL artworks.
“There has never been any doubt in our minds that we would be back, and the moment we made the decision to take a much-needed break, we already had a strategy for the future of the band. A new album in 2014 has always been the plan, and when Joacim and I started to discuss the parameters for the next HAMMERFALL album we found that one of the first points we immediately agreed on was that we should consider asking Andreas Marschall to do the cover artwork. Andreas is responsible for the first three HAMMERFALL albums, and it seemed like the perfect time to let him interpret Hector again”, comments Oscar Dronjak.

“Gates Of Dalhalla”, the new DVD from Swedish melodic metallers HAMMERFALL, has entered the Swedish “Music DVD” chart at position No. 4. As previously reported, the set also landed on the German “Music DVD” chart at No. 6.
“Gates Of Dalhalla” was released as a DVD+2CD and Blu-ray+2CD on November 30 via Nuclear Blast. The set will feature the band’s extraordinary 135-minute 15th-anniversary show that took place on July 28 on the historic open-air stage Dalhalla, built in an old quarry near the small Swedish village Rättvik. The footage was captured by Swedish director Patric Ullaeus of the Revolver Film Company AB, who has previously worked with IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, EUROPE and LACUNA COIL, among many others.
Commented HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak: “The set contained 26 tracks and lasted two hours and 15 minutes, by far the longest and most comprehensive gig of our entire career! We played songs from every album and then some. There were lots of guests and pyros, and we had 80 Marshall cabinets and the big shield with the HF logo carved out in the middle hanging brought out of storage, all set in an extremely unique venue. You really have to see it to understand. This concert really captured the essence of HAMMERFALL live in 2012 very well!”
Special guests during the concert included original HAMMERFALL members Jesper Strömblad (IN FLAMES) and Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), as well as ex-HAMMERFALL guitarist Stefan Elmgren.
Added Oscar: “Everything concerning this release is special: the venue, the occasion, the setlist, the guests. If you are going to celebrate something, do it properly, and this is exactly what we have done. HAMMERFALL with extra everything, 100% live, 0% bullshit.”
The setlist for the concert was as follows:
01. Patient Zero
02. Heeding The Call
03. Any Means Necessary
04. B.Y.H.
05. Riders Of The Storm

The members of HAMMERFALL announced in March that they were take an extended break immediately following their festival appearances this summer.
“It has been an unbelievable first 15 years, to say the least,” said guitarist Oscar Dronjak, “and now we are taking a pause to ensure that we have another 15 years ahead of us.”
There will be no HAMMERFALL activities in 2013, but the band promises to return strong the following year. “The plan is to use the year off to recharge our batteries and come back more vital than ever with a new album in 2014,” explained singer Joacim Cans.
HAMMERFALL‘s new album, “Infected”, sold around 1,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD debuted at No. 16 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Gothenburg, Sweden’s METAL MONARCHS – a tribute to heavy metal featuring members of HAMMERFALL, DREAMLAND and DRAGONLAND – will reunite for a run of shows in 2013.
Following a lengthy hiatus, the band are ready to roll once again, stating: “Now it’s time to take the classic metal to the masses again.”
Formed in the fall of 2003 by Oscar Dronjak (Hammerfall) and Mats Rendlert (Dreamland), with Jesse Lindskog (Dragonland) and Eric Rauti (Dreamland) joining shortly thereafter. Dan Cardesjö (THE BREEDING) was enlisted on vocals, and this five-some performed numerous times together throughout 2004. Dan was replaced by Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland) in the beginning of 2006, expanding the number of songs the guys could execute extensively with his wide vocal range.
The object was – and still very much is – to play songs they love from their favourite bands, trying to come as close to the original as possible. That includes the little nuances in tone in guitar solos, drum fills, the wailing on the vocals etc. Being the die-hard heavy metal fans they are, having enjoyed listening to the songs thousands of times collectively, this is very important. And that is where the tribute aspect comes in. The name Metal Monarchs is a play off of MANOWAR’s Kings Of Metal, but instead of referring to themselves, it’s the songs being performed that the monicker is aimed at.
Metal Monarchs lineup:
Vocals: Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland, DESTINY)
Guitar: Oscar Dronjak (Hammerfall)
Guitar: Eric Rauti (Dreamland, TORCH)
Bass: Mats Rendlert (Dreamland, SANDALINAS)
Drums: Jesse Lindskog (Dragonland)
