Swedish Prog Metal Band Evergrey To Finland

Fullsteam Records has issued the following press-release:

Currently finishing off the recordings of their eighth studio album “Glorious Collision”, Evergrey will arrive in Finland for three shows soon after the release of the new full-length. Evergrey will perform at Lutakko, Jyväskylä on March 10 and at Teatria, Oulu and Nosturi, Helsinki the following nights.

Founded in Gothernburg in mid-90s, Evergrey’s progressive metal is about power riffs, catchy melodies and dark lyrics. The band are currently finishing off their eighth full-length “Glorious Collision” which is due on February 28. In spite up line-up changes, the album emanates positive energy.

After the album release, Evergrey are doing an European tour with American Kamelot and also a U.S. tour later on. The forthcoming Finnish shows will opened by domestic melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum, who will likewise release a new album in February. The shows will be organized in cooperation with Imperiumi.net.

Amorphis To Be Joined By Former Members On Stage During ‘Magic & Mayhem’ Tour

AMORPHIS‘s “Magic & Mayhem” tour kicks off tonight at Helsinki, Finland’s legendary Tavastia club. Each show will feature special appearances by several former members of the band, including Pekka Kasari, Pasi Koskinen, Olli-Pekka Laine, Kasper Mårtenson, Kim Rantala and Ville Tuomi.

Commented AMORPHIS guitarist Esa Holopainen: “It goes without saying that the ‘Magic & Mayhem’ tour will bring many nostalgic moments, as former AMORPHIS members from throughout the years will be our guests on stage.

“The tour concludes a fantastic year, during which we have celebrated the 20-year career of AMORPHIS in more than one way.

“After New Year’s, we will continue the production of our next album, which we expect to see the light of day in May 2011. Pekka Kainulainen has again written beautiful lyrics, and the new album will be centered around the leading figure of Finnish mythology. Musically, it will again be intense with powerful emotion.”

Amoral Final Show Of 2010 In Helsinki

Finnish metal band Amoral has issued the following update on their myspace blog:

“The very first show we played after recording Show Your Colors was a secret gig at Helsinki’s On the Rocks. This show (played under the moniker Gold Johnson Big Band) was also the very first time we played live with Ari. So what better way to wrap up the touring for SYC than to return to that very same place for one more show before we start concentrating on putting the finishing touches to the new material! This gig on saturday, October 23rd is gonna be a special “an evening with” -party, as we’re gonna fuck around with the setlist a lot, with unusual tunes from our back catalogue, as well as throwing in some odd cover songs. And who knows, you just might hear some new material for the very first time…”

Quality fan-filmed video footage of Epica‘s September 24, 2010 headlining performance at Nosturi in Helsinki, can be viewed below:

“This Is The Time”, the new single from Epica, will be released digitally on October 15. A video for the song, which was written for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), was filmed in March was in Hilversum, The Netherlands.

Commented Epica: “The awareness that we should be more careful with the earth, increases every day. We should also try to live in closer harmony with nature. Epica is lyric-wise strongly connected to these themes and would like to devote themselves to this cause for a better world!”

Added WWF’s Jörgen van Beem: “WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of our planet’s natural environment, and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. A planet where people and nature can thrive together, in a stable environment, now, and for generations to come. UFO lands to Finland in October 2010

At the turn of a new wave of British heavy metal and hard rock, UFO, established in 1969, lands in Finland in October.
Phil Mogg, Vinnie Moore, Paul Raymond, Pete Way and Andy Parker will pilot the Band to Helsinki, Tampere and Turku. The concerts make part of the “Visitor World Tour 2010”.

Originally, the band was called “Hocus Pocus” which was changed to UFO to honor the Ufo London Club, where they were signed to Beacon Records. Their debut album “UFO1” was completed in October 1970, followed by 20 albums by 2009. For further info: http://www.ufo-music.info
