They state themselves to be having many “musical influences, such as hip hop, metal, crossover, electronic. All this genres came together to create the project KUADRA that is, first of all, a melting pot of rap, rock and nu metal.”
Lots of bands try positioning themselves as having influences from many a genre, but as to my experience of listening to such bands, most of them fail to be made up from different genres. KUADRA are special on this matter. They actually have all the genres they claim to play written skillfully into their music. The hip hop gently comes along with the heavy metal which perfectly gets along with the electronic beats, making a true “melting pot” of all these genres of music.
But of what quality the outcome is?
In my opinion, rather excellent. The blend is well balanced; lots of rapping, crossover riffs and heavy metal guitars to master it all. The vocals are well recorded and rough, just like a crossover band needs. Every song sounds different and has another hue of sound and feel.
On the lyrics part I have little to say: The whole album is in Italian, which of course I do not speak. However, as for one that most of the time listens to English written music, it is a refreshing thing to hear an entire LP in a foreign language. The accent adds a lot to the overall feeling this album gives to the listener (as of my perception).
To sum it up, I warmly recommend listening to this album and to this band. They have a whole lot of potential to become big in Europe with tours and further recordings. Perhaps if they come up with some English materials, they’ll have their break out of Italy and maybe even Europe. Rating 9/10
