Mysterious Swedish band GHOST have won a Grammi for their second album Infestissumam.
Their home nation’s equivalent of the US Grammy awards ceremony took place in Stockholm last night, where the occult-themed band emerged victorious in the Best Hard Rock/Metal category.
The other nominees were Crashdiet for The Savage Playground, Watain for The Wild Hunt, Nicke Borg Homeland for Ruins Of A Riot, and The Kristet Utseende for Pervogenesis.
Ghost consists of five Nameless Ghouls behind frontman Papa Emeritus II, and although their identities have yet to be revealed, one of the band last year admitted it was only a matter of time.
He said: “I think we’ve been able to sustain our thing so far because there hasn’t been that kind of level of interest in the band. That will change. It’s something of a paradox. To go further as a band doesn’t run parallel with being anonymous.”
In October the band released a five-track covers EP called If You Have Ghost, produced by Dave Grohl – who, it’s claimed, has actually performed with them as one of the Nameless Ghouls. They appear at this year’s Sonisphere festival at Knebworth in July.
