Jorg talks about the response to the new album “Elysium”, guitarist Matias Kupiainen‘s contribution to the album, the 18-minute long title track, comparison to the previous album Polaris, his favorite tracks on Elysium, recently being diagnosed with cancer, the band’s stand-in drummer Alex Landenburg on their recent tour with Helloween, working with various musicians in his early days, plans for the rest of the year, the possibility of the Helloween-Stratovarius tour coming to the States, and the fan following for power metal in South America.

MEDEA was born in the province of Lecce (Italy) and already at the age of three she approached the music. She began to study piano and to compose her first songs at the age of five. At seven years she participated in her first singing contest “Il grappolo d’oro”, winning the first prize. At the age of fourteen, she met the master Tony Frassanito with whom she began to study singing. When she was 17, she recorded her first songs at Pan Pot Studio in Brindisi with the help of Anthony Bruno and Maurilio Mimmi and since then she’s participated in various competitions nationally…

Among all your merits, the latest one, was few weeks ago, when you were elected as “Miss Metal Archive” in the contest, organized by a Facebook group “Archivio Metallico Italiano”. Congrats! Tell me about this experience, which is a little bit out from the musical stage … And the title, how it will engage you this year?
In fact the competition was so fierce that I didn’t even considered a hypothetical title, but actually I got two of them, really, I must thank “Archivio Metallico Italiano” and all those who have commented and appreciated my contest-profile. It’s been a really fun and interesting experience, especially since the selection criteria focused primarily on the factor of character of the person, before the physical appearance! How do I commit myself? Um … I do not know what to do? haha .. jokes aside, I will endeavor to continue to deserve this title and not to disappoint the voters 🙂

Ari Koivunen is a Finnish heavy metal singer who rose to fame as the winner of the Finnish singing competition Idols in 2007. He has since gone on to become one of Finland’s most popular and best-selling recording artists. Koivunen is a member and a vocalist of two Finnish bands: Ari Koivunen (2007-) and at the end of the year 2008 Ari joined the Finnish band AMORAL, who released their fourth album (first one with Ari) “Show Your Colors” in 2009.
