Killer work from the boys in the band – Dave Dunlop, Steve Skingley, and Paul DeLong – with Paul’s thundering drum fills hammering everything into place at the end. What a production – what a bee-yatch to mix – kudos to Matt DeMatteo & Dave & Steve-o. For Those Who Love Guitar Solos – this one is headed straight for your wheelhouse.

According to Roadrunner Records, DREAM THEATER frontman James LaBrie recently gave an interview to the Aquarian Weekly, where he discussed the band’s new self-titled studio album as well as his recently released solo disc, Impermanent Resonance.
Dream Theater in the studio 2013
Says LaBrie about the Dream Theater album’s 22-minute closing track, “Illumination Theory,” “[It’s] this big, epic 20-minute-plus, but what it does is it just incorporates all these things that really make Dream Theater who they are; it really identifies strongly with the kind of band we are. It’s aggressive, it’s very symphonic at times, it’s very atmospheric at times. This is the first time where in the middle of an instrumental, we didn’t all of a sudden go into this big, interactive display of musical and instrumental prowess. What happened was the whole thing just kind of disappears—the whole band disappears—and all of a sudden Jordan [Rudess, keyboards] comes in with this big, atmospheric approach, followed by a very symphonic string section, very melodically-driven, and then going into something that feels like a meteorite hit the planet, you know, if you go into the section called ‘The Pursuit of Truth,’ where I’m like, screaming my head off and everything like that. I mean, it’s a very exciting ride and it’s a classic, epic piece for Dream Theater.”
According to LaBrie, “[Before] going into the album, we knew that it was going to be a self-titled album just because we felt that we just walked over a bridge, so to speak. With A Dramatic Turn of Events, that album was more or less about us letting everyone know that we are still the same band and we’re going to continue to write music and not lose our identity, but the music is going to be where it’s at, that we haven’t lost a thing; if anything, we feel better about ourselves. So that album was more or less about proving it to our fans and to the journalists around the world that we still are who we are and in fact, we feel even that much more confident.
“So with that being done, this album was more or less about us just remembering and saying, ‘You know what, we’ve done that, we’ve proven that, let’s just get back into having a great time together and writing an amazing album and that we can say this is the beginning of something new for us.’ This is a whole new chapter in Dream Theater’s career that we feel this album will be the kick-start to that. So yeah, going in we just knew this was the album we needed to write, and I think we achieved it.”
Frontiers Records is excited to present the world the talents of Swedish singer ANGELICA with the release of her debut album “Thrive” on November 29th in Europe and December 3rd in North America.
Best known for being the singer in The Murder of My Sweet, Angelica Rylin finally decided to pursue her childhood dream and to walk in the footsteps of such amazing singers such as Ann Wilson of Heart, Leigh Matty of Romeo’s Daughter or Robin Beck and record her debut solo album in a true Melodic Rock style.
Some Melodic Rock songwriting luminaries answered the call in order to create the magic harmonies and music displayed on Angelica‘s debut album. “Harry Hess, Daniel Flores, Robert Sall, Alessandro Del Vecchio and Anders Wigelius all contributed“, says Angelica and some excellent guitarists such as Jesper Stromblad (In Flames), Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear), Per Berquist (Smash Into Pieces) also appear on the album. There is also a very special performance by keyboardist Matt Guillory (James LaBrie). Still Angelica wrote or co-wrote several songs on her record, showing another side of her abilities.
“I got the chance to step out of my comfort zone and just focus on being a great singer. I also got to do a couple of amazing co-writes, for instance with Harry Hess of Harem Scarem” continues Angelica “but what I’m most happy about is that I got to include a couple of my own songs too. It’s a great mix of classic but modern AOR love songs”.
Helped by producer, drummer and songwriting partner Daniel Flores (FIND ME, SEVENTH WONDER; THE MURDER OF MY SWEET), Angelica managed to create a superb album which offers soaring and instantly likeable hook lines, solid guitar riffs and a crisp sound. “After releasing two albums with The Murder of My Sweet I get an opportunity to show my fans a slightly different side of me and at the same time have fun and explore another side of rock music that I grew up with and truly love” tells Angelica. “I have pushed my boundaries vocally on this album and grown as a singer, which is very important for me on a more personal level. I guess this is every singer’s dream!”
“Thrive” final track listing includes: Breaking My Heart; I Am Strong; To Your Rescue; Can’t Stop Love; Nothing Else You Can Break; Riding Out The Storm; Rain On My Parade; Losers In Paradise; You Will Never Win; This Kiss Is Just For You; I’m Not Waiting; Take Me To Your Heart.
