Guitarist DAVE NAVARRO usually meets with Sway on MTV or another medium regarding music, but this time they get to simply sit down and enjoy conversation on Sway In The Morning. Although Dave and THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS are not at the best of terms at this time, he still explains why they didn’t perform “live” at this year’s NFL Superbowl. Navarro also shares memories of working with the King of Pop, MICHAEL JACKSON and how it was one of the greatest times of his life. Finally, Dave gives a message to Bible Thumpers which can be summed up as, to each his own.
As part of a final celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the release of Nothing’s Shocking that started with the group receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last October, Jane’s Addiction have booked a trio of Nothing’s Shocking shows in conjunction with the opening of the new Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas for May 8th – 10th.
JANE’S ADDICTION are on hiatus while frontman Perry Farrell focuses on his Las Vegas musical, he’s confirmed.
The band last year released standalone single Another Soulmate, while Farrell had previously discussed making a follow-up to 2011 album The Great Escape Artist, saying: “We have material left that we didn’t record. I’m very inspired to keep with the theme. Something’s feeling right about it.”
But now he’s revealed the band are on hold until at least 2015. He tells Rolling Stone: “Jane’s Addiction is going to take a hiatus. It’ll be a couple of years before you see Jane’s again.”
Farrell is working on a show called Kind Heaven, set in war-torn Thailand and based on a love story between a soldier and a civilian. He describes it as “a musical written with a house sensibility”, adding: “If Giorgio Moroder had written a musical, it would sound like this.”
He’s not planning to appear in the show himself, which he intends to be “immersive”, with audience members walking through the set as the performance is delivered around them. “It’s better than sitting in seats,” he observes.
According to AL.com, MEGADETH, THE CULT and JANE’S ADDICTION are among the confirmed artist for the 2012 edition of the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil, a music and food festival set to take place May 4-5 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on March 16 through Ticketmaster, and at America’s First Federal Credit Union locations. Advance ticket prices are $30 for a day pass, $49.50 for a weekend pass. Advance VIP tickets will cost $75 per day, $140 for a weekend pass.
The Crawfish Boil, founded in 1986, gradually evolved from a casual backyard party to a large charity benefit, and then, to a professionally-run business that has attracted audiences of 20,000-40,000 people.
Henry Rollins recruited SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian, SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo, JANE’S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga and members of Rob Zombie‘s band, including guitarist John 5, for a benefit concert on November 30 at the Avalon in Hollywood, California.

All proceeds from the show will go to Drop In The Bucket, a Los Angeles- and Gulu, Uganda-based non-profit organization that constructs water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa.
Taylor, hot off his recent book tour for the New York Times bestseller “Seven Deadly Sins”, is currently in the middle of a very successful and almost entirely sold-out acoustic tour. He said, “In a time when money is suspect, and politics looks a lot like schoolyard bullying, people forget that there are far greater issues going on in the world. One of which is the fact that millions of people live without water on a daily basis when we as Americans treat it like used tissue paper. It’s only common sense to think that if I can do something to not only help, but also raise awareness, then that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
“Drop in the Bucket is one of the most important and selfless causes I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. And I can only hope that I do some good for it. And to be able to do that by putting on an awesome show with friends like Roy Mayorga, Scott Ian and John 5 just shows how good this business can be sometimes!”
Rollins, a renowned musician, author and punk rock icon, has worked closely with Drop In The Bucket, traveling to Africa last year to see its work on the ground first-hand. “Drop In The Bucket is trying to make things better,” says Rollins. “There’s no profit incentive here. It’s only about getting people to water and keeping them alive and healthy.”
Funds raised at the event will be used to expand Drop In The Bucket‘s vital programs into the northern region of Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan. This area is on the verge of a major humanitarian crisis due to the sudden influx of returnees coming from North Sudan following South Sudan’s recent independence.
Drop In The Bucket believes we can help create a world in which children are safe, healthy, educated and free from fear. And they believe that the key to achieving those ends is clean water and sanitation.
