YouTube user Johnny Riot has posted a Best Of Jeff Waters guitar solo compilation clip, shot at ANNIHILATOR‘s November 3rd show in Stockholm, Sweden:
“The best guitar parts that I ‘got on tape’ from this show! I wish I filmed more when I was so close to the stage, but I wasn’t there to watch the show with my iPhone!”
Waters recently checked in from the road with the following:
“Tour is simply one of the best ever. Support band THE GENERALS are all super cool dudes with some mean-ass metal/rock goin on.”
“The shows have been killer. Two shows had low attendance but ended up being some of the best gigs… Packing them in everywhere else. So many kick ass shows and fans… Hamburg sold out show was wicked: Halloween night! Best night ever. Got through my kidney stone and didn’t miss a minute onstage (see hospital pic where I am clearly dying of pain but put my best face on!).”
“Just got off ferry a few hours ago from Stockholm to Turku (Finland). Amazing brand new boat. Super lux hotel on the water. 12 hours of heaven.”
“Back into red car bus… Fantastic home on wheels and now sitting in Tampere hotel lobby waiting for pizza on night off. Tomorrow is Tampere and next day Helsinki. Awesome! Again packed venues to finish off our tour with The Generals. Then to St Petersburg, Russia, then Moscow and then the mighty Istanbul! We don’t wanna stop! C’mon Seaside/ICS Touring: we need to play all year and next year.”
ANNIHILATOR‘s Jeff Waters has issued the following update from the band’s Feast On Europe Tour 2013 tour:
“After the show in Madrid last night (October 18th), we left at night for Barcelona. Jasmina and I were sleeping in the master bedroom in back if the bus. We were thrown on the floor, as a truck slammed into us from behind. The other guys were mostly sleeping but were woken up with quite the impact. We (red car bus) were driving the speed limit for carrying a legal 3.5 ton trailer and, according to the spanish police who shit the highway down, the driver of the truck that hit us was speeding and “distracted”; I would guess texting, as he was speeding at a high rate down a 3-lane highway in the slow lane, and tried to brake a second before impact…
So it looked the entire police force was out! Very cool dudes and they helped us arrange tow trucks, checked for injuries with all vehicle occupants, escorted the bus to a truck stop when we finally untangled the trailer from the bus. Our bassist Alberto speaks Spanish and translated all night, then morning long.
We were all very lucky we had a large trailer, stuffed with a lot of backline (Stacks Hughes and Kettner Coreblade speaker cabinets saved us!!)… They and ALL our gear took most of the impact… The police said we would have likely had fatalities, if that trailer and cabinets/contents had not been there… Jas and I would have been the first to go!! But enough drama!
We are all ok and will send pics if this one, that’s for sure! We had a killer show in Madrid last night.. Best show and fans on the tour… But sadly and obviously could not make Barcelona tonight. We are (safely and legally!) racing to Lyon France now, where we will get a truck for the gear (gear in way from accident location).
That could be the only issue now is what gear/equipment is working and what is destroyed. But we will likely make it to Lyon and sort out what we can use there!!!
Thanks Madrid, sorry Barcelona, “F you” to texting and driving (or whatever he was doing)… Of, about the driver of the speeding truck that hit us: He survived, but if u saw his truck (pics coming), you would not think it possible to survive. Wish us safe travels! We need them!!”

ANNIHILATOR mainman Jeff Waters is featured in a career-spanning interview with Dead Rhetoric. An excerpt from the discussion is available below:
Dead Rhetoric: As the ’90s wore on, the band started to do better in Europe, but remained idle in America. At that point, were you like, “Forget it!”?
Waters: “Yes, I stopped looking in 1995 when I was trying to get a deal for King Of The Kill. The Japanese and European labels were signing me to good deals, but I couldn’t get anyone in North America to respond to my faxes- that was the thing back then, and phone calls. Nobody wants us, reality check. I took it as a slam against me, the industry wouldn’t accept me. If I didn’t have Europe or Japan behind me I would probably be a bum on the street or dead right now (laughs). Music is my life, I didn’t want to change band names or music styles, I got lucky.”
Dead Rhetoric: What was the tipping point in terms of you shifting your focus away from North America? Was it Never, Neverland?
Waters: “Roadrunner dropped everything that was metal. There were no bands left from that purge- Canadian or United States that had the word metal in it. You had Robb Flynn from VIO-LENCE turn into MACHINE HEAD, they didn’t start off with the thrash they have been playing recently – they had red jumpsuits on and changed their sound/image. Bands lost their record deals – nobody was in a position to carry on. Most bands just got jobs, some bands adapted and got rid of their name, changed out musicians and went on. For Machine Head that worked. We said, this is what we do. We had the luck of Europe and Japan staying with these styles and still buying our music.
My opinion would be much different if those two territories had not been there, I probably would have been quite bitter and depressed. We didn’t have an option in North America unless I wanted to change the name of the band and play a different form of music. Set the World On Fire didn’t do well in North America, but it was the second biggest album for us ever in Japan, and King Of The Kill was the biggest one there, Set The World On Fire had us headlining to 80,000 people at the Dynamo Festival in Europe, so we were going up but North America didn’t see that. I didn’t have time to tour the world and try to break back in Canada and the United States. Playing this was not the kind of music the labels wanted to sign anyway, a traditional form of heavy metal and thrash metal. Fans may have wanted it, but the industry didn’t, the clubs didn’t, the booking agents didn’t.”
Annihilator recently issued the following announcement:
“Here we go Quebec! Annihilator are proud to announce a special show in Quebec City at the Imperial Theatre on Friday Oct 4th. Four bands, including Ottawa’s SHOCK will be on the bill + two kick ass Quebec bands. Jeff Waters will also give away his signature Epiphone Annihilation guitar on-stage and the lucky winner will get to hang out with the band on the stage for the rest of the show! Get tix quick… it is gonna sell out again, like 2011! METAL!”
