As first reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET on March 26, Swedish metallers SABATON have now confirmed the departure of guitarists Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sundén, drummer Daniel Mulback and keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr. Vocalist Joakim Bróden and bassist Pär Sundström will continue SABATON with new, as-yet-undisclosed members.
Commented SABATON in a statement: “Starting a band at the age of 18 is simple, keeping it intact for 12 years is much harder, and finally we have come to the crossroad where we will go separate ways.
“Pär Sundström and Joakim Brodén will continue to battle on stage, carrying the banner of SABATON to further victories.
“We will always have an eternal bond to each other, created by more than 12 years of friendship and touring, and wish each other long and prosperous lives with families, various projects and musical careers.

Swedish-language newspaper Dalarnas Tidningar (DT) from SABATON‘s hometown of Falun published a report earlier today (Monday, March 26) claiming that the band’s current incarnation will go its separate ways, with vocalist Joakim Brodén and bassist Pär Sundström planning to continue the group with new musicians.
According to Dalarnas Tidningar, it is not presently clear what caused SABATON‘s most recent lineup to implode, and Brodén, who is also the band’s main songwriter, was tight-lipped about possible personnel changes when reached by the newspaper. “I will not comment on it,” he said.
When pressed further to confirm or deny the rumors, Brodén said, “I can’t say anything as long as the tape recorder is on. But what I can say is that it’s sad that such rumors are being spread.”
SABATON will embark on a North American headlining tour next month. The “Swedish Empire Tour 2012” will kick off on April 10 in Tampa, Florida. Source: Blabbermouth.net
DEMONICAL STATEMENT: Ronnie leaves – new Drummer & Guitar-Player !!!
“We have hereby officially parted ways with drummer Ronnie Bergerståhl and replaced him with Fredrik Widigs. Fredrik has been our stand-in drummer during the past autumn, hence making him the obvious choice for the throne and full time position. Besides that, we are also thrilled to announce that our session live-guitarist Pablo Magallanes has become an official member of Demonical. We want to thank Ronnie for all the years in the band and wish him the best for the future! We welcome Fredrik and Pablo into Demonical, with this new and strong we are more than ready for 2012 and everything it will bring.”
The ones involved have spoken:
Ronnie Bergerståhl:
“As most of you know by now, I decided to sit out the Demonical tour which took place in October/November. I thought about it for months before the tour started and in my heart I basically decided already then to quit the band. However, I gave it some time but now I have taken the last final decision: I will quit Demonical! The main reason is that it is getting harder and harder to combine two touring bands like Demonical and Grave – to give them equal priority – and as Demonical will be doing a shit load of festivals and shows in 2012 and Grave will release a new album (with extended touring to follow) it will be impossible. There is absolutely NO hard feelings between me and the guys in Demonical, we will still be doing lots of “hadderajjan” together after this, hehe…!! I’m really excited to see who’s going to take my place in the band but I know that they won’t settle for anything or anyone but the best!”
Fredrik Widigs:
“It’s a great privilege for me to be a part of Demonical and after the much successful “Eastern Death Infernal tour 2011”, I’m very eager to continue to spread the Swedish Death Metal Darkness. The march for victory has only begun!”
Pablo Magallanes:
“It’s a great honor to officially be a part of Demonical and to be able to develop the death metal sound among and with friends and professional musicians.”

Finnish dark metal masters BEFORE THE DAWN have issued the following update:
“BEFORE THE DAWN as we know it now will see its end on June 25 at the Nummirock festival, [and will then] regroup for one month and come back on stages stronger than ever at Tuska Open Air afterparty on July 24.
“Formed in 1999, BEFORE THE DAWN has reached a crossroad after six full-lengths, numerous tours and gigs in over 20 countries and several label changes that led the band under the mighty wings of Nuclear Blast in the end of 2010.
“The past few years have been difficult for the band in many ways, and in the end there was only two ways to go: Bury the band or continue through big changes in lineup and eventually in the music, too.
“With mutual decision in the band Lars Eikind (bass, clean vocals) and Atte Palokangas (drums) will no longer be members of BEFORE THE DAWN after the gig at Nummirock festival. Decision with Lars was mainly personal and with Atte purely musical.
“The new style will bring the band closer to melodic death metal and the gothic influences will be part of the band’s history.
“BEFORE THE DAWN leader and the sole songwriter Tuomas Saukkonen and the lead guitarist Juho Räihä have been the key members of the band’s sound since the ‘Deadlight’ album, with Tuomas delivering the music and production and Juho working behind the mixing desk in the studio with recordings and also mixing the two latest releases (‘Decade Of Darkness’ and ‘Deathstar Rising’). Their teamwork will be a guarantee of a top quality in music and production in the future also when the band returns to the studio in winter 2011. BEFORE THE DAWN will also return the stages of Europe in winter 2011 and before that the new lineup will release a digital single and music video, ‘Phoenix Rising’, from the forthcoming seventh album.
“In the words of the band leader Tuomas Saukkonen: ‘Current changes were difficult and unfortunate but still inevitable and necessary so that the band could continue and release seventh album as stronger than ever.'”
“Deathstar Rising” entered the official chart in Finland at position No. 8. The CD was released on February 25 via Nuclear Blast Records. Source: Blabbermouth.net
The following announcement was issued by SHINING front man and founder Niklas Kvarforth:
“Guitarist Fredric Gråby has left the ranks of SHINING today because he no longer felt able to continue playing. Unfortunately this means that we have been forced to cancel our appearance at the Ragnarok Festival this month as there is not enough time for a new guitarist to learn the material.
“We are also pleased to announce that Christian Larsson, who has been playing bass with the band for some time on a temporary basis, has now has joined SHINING as a permanent full-time member”.
