San Diego’s critically acclaimed alternative rock duo LITTLE HURRICANE has teamed up with Metal Shock Finland to premiere, for Finnish territory, their new video for the single “OTL”, taken from their new album “Same Sun Same Moon”, coming out April 17th, via Mascot Records!

San Diego, California 2-person alternative rock duo, LITTLE HURRICANE – featuring front man Anthony “Tone” Catalano and drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina – is set to release their third full-length studio album “Same Sun Same Moon”, their debut on Mascot Records, Friday April 14th, followed by a USA/UK/EU headline tour in April/May!

We may not all share the same beliefs, but people are still more alike than different. No matter if you’re in San Diego or South Africa, living 10,000 years ago or today, we all look up to see the same sun and same moon. We are all connected in one way or another. This message of unity beats at the heart of Little Hurricane’s latest release, Same Sun Same Moon.

Their story began in San Diego, where LITTLE HURRICANE formed. Having recently resumed playing drums after an eight-year hiatus, CC placed a musicians-wanted ad on Craigslist. Among the myriad of respondents was Tone, a studio engineer who’d worked with artists ranging from John Paul Jones to Gwen Stefani. The two musicians were neighbours who had never met, and bonded over mutual interests including the blues, unusual and vintage gear, and their individual experiences playing in high school jazz bands. A year later, Little Hurricane won three San Diego Music Awards, including Album of the Year for 2011 debut Homewrecker. LITTLE HURRICANE’s explosive live show soon landed them slots at major festivals including Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza, and garnered media attention from outlets including Rolling Stone, which profiled them in an extensive behind-the-scenes piece at SXSW 2012.

LITTLE HURRICANE has toured throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, both as a headliner and main support for artists including The Specials, Manchester Orchestra, and John Butler Trio. Television music supervisors also took a shine to LITTLE HURRICANE, featuring the duo’s songs on shows including Gossip Girl, Revenge, Mistresses, and ESPNs First Take. In addition, a quartet of Taco Bell TV commercials has showcased three LITTLE HURRICANE originals, as well as the pair’s spirited cover of Starland Vocal Band’s 1976 U.S. chart-topper “Afternoon Delight.”

With so much history behind the band, their new record is a nod to its predecessors Homewrecker (2011) and Gold Fever (2014) while taking a resolute turn with its intention. These twelve new songs retain the honesty and immediacy of LITTLE HURRICANE’s earlier work; check out the gritty “Bad Business” (featured in PlayStation’s MLB The Show 16) and the driving instrumental ”March of the Living.” Yet they also incorporate new timbres and a broader emotional scope, changes that underscore the band’s desire to transcend its dirty blues roots and connect with a wider range of music lovers.

This evolution is especially evident on the album’s first single “OTL,” a love song woven from understated keyboards and intertwined vocals. Married in summer 2016, the creative partners elected to openly share their happiness with listeners for the first time.

Dynamic Duo LITTLE HURRICANE Signs With Mascot Label Group

Mascot Label Group is pleased to announce the signing of LITTLE HURRICANE, a 2-person alternative rock band from San Diego, California featuring frontman Anthony “Tone” Catalano and drummer Celeste “C.C.” Spina. Formed in 2010, the band is gearing up for the release of their third full-length studio album in early 2017. 

Honing a swampy, yet ethereal sound anchored by C.C.’s thundering, razor sharp drum work, Little Hurricane’s stripped-down, 2-piece dynamic packs “as big of a punch, if not more, than a four or five-piece band.” Paste raved, “Dirty blues oozes out of members C.C. and Tone,” an unlikely duo who first found each other through a Craigslist ad.

The band has toured the world several times over, sharing the stage with artists like John Butler Trio, July Talk, The Specials, Manchester Orchestra, and White Denim, and performing to packed festival crowds at Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and South By South West. Voted San Diego’s Best New Artist shortly after forming, the band quickly gained attention everywhere from Sports Illustrated to Rolling Stone, who said “Little Hurricane might be a duo, but they have a big sound and they aren’t afraid to get messy.”

“As a band that has traditionally been very independent, we are looking forward to having a true partnership in this release between our label Death Valley Records and Mascot Label Group,” the band commented. “We believe their team has a lot to offer both collectively and individually to a band like Little Hurricane. With the help of Mascot, we plan to bring our music to as many people as possible and expand our global presence.”
