Sheffield’s metal powerhouse MALEVOLENCE have unleashed their brand-new single, ‘TRENCHES,’ embodying the raw resilience and grit of their Steel City roots. This standalone track is the first glimpse of their partnership with Grammy-winning producer Josh Wilbur, known for his work with heavyweights like Lamb of God, Korn, and Gojira. Amplifying their Northern backdrop, MALEVOLENCE also collaborated with in-demand director duo Double or Nothing Productions for a Metal video debut that demonstrates their unique identity in British Metal.
Vocalist Alex Taylor comments: “Trenches is possibly the most aggressive, ignorant and direct song we have ever written. Over the last few years, we’ve been playing more in the commercial metal circuit at festivals and arenas, so we wanted to take this opportunity to remind people that we still haven’t lost sight of where we came from. The lyrics are a declaration of not needing validation or approval, and a rejection of those who never supported the journey but only show their face when you achieve some level of success.”
Malevolence are set to shut down cities across the UK, starting tomorrow with a full-on, 11-date club tour, featuring New York’s Pain Of Truth and MLVLTD’s finest Rough Justice. The run is now almost completely sold out, with the Liverpool venue recently upgraded due to high demand.
In celebration, the UK’s reigning champs of heavy metal present a special memento from their sold-out UK tour dates last November. Malevolence have released an intoxicating live performance video of ‘Higher Place‘ featuring Espera of Sleep Token, from their monumental show at The Forum, London. The performance reimagines one of Malevolence’s more emotionally charged songs from their current album Malicious Intent.
Watch ‘Higher Place‘ feat. Espera of Sleep Token (Live At The Forum, London 2023):
Malevolence vocalist Alex Taylor commented:
“We always relish the opportunity to do something special and different, so it was a privilege to have the Espera girls join us on stage for ‘Higher Place’ at our biggest ever headline show. The idea spawned when the group tagged us in a reel of themselves singing ‘Higher Place’ on Instagram – we immediately knew that we had to do it live together. We can’t thank them enough for coming down and being part of something so special in Malevolence history!”
After completely selling out their UK headline tour in November of last year and blowing away audiences at the likes of Download and Bloodstock Festival UK,throughout Trivium‘s recent UK/European tour, some Lamb Of God European shows, a USA run with Jinjier and POD, and at Knotfest Australia, the British bruisers are pumped for more live action and have a big 2024 in the works.
‘Malicious Intent‘was recorded at Tree House Studios, UK. The record was produced by Jim Pinder and co-mixed by Jim Pinder and Carl Bown. The’Malicious Intent‘artwork was created by renowned artist Eliran Kantor.

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the release of The Aggression Sessions featuring THY ART IS MURDER, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and MALEVOLENCE which will be available digitally on April 7th and on CD + Vinyl on July 21st, 2023 via Nuclear Blast.
Today, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY releases the first single from the EP entitled, “Hellions”. Check out the visualizer here:
FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY states, “‘Hellions’ was a fun look back at some of our more brutal and fast-paced roots more akin to our earlier material. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Hellbound, the record which we all collectively feel really started things in motion for the band. It was a blast to channel the energy and excitement we had at that time back into our music in 2023. It’s only natural for bands to evolve and expand their sound over time, but we never forgot where we came from, so this one is for those who were here from day one!”
The Aggression Sessions is the follow-up to 2016’s The Depression Sessionsand follows the same 6-song mini album where each band offers an original single and a cover song. For this session, THY ART IS MURDER is covering Cannibal Corpse and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY is covering At The Gates whereas MALEVOLENCEis handling a song by American singer Anastacia.
THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY make the following joint statement: “Before we had even completed work on ‘The Depressions Sessions’ we knew a lifelong friendship had been forged between THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and that we would have to do another variation of the project. ‘The Aggression Sessions’ concept was born almost immediately following the completion of the first iteration but has taken many years to finally find the time to record and release it amidst the chaotic touring and music release schedules of both bands. We wanted to take things back to some of our favorite inspirations for writing and performing heavy and aggressive music this time, encapsulating the tone of the EP title. We hope everyone enjoys!
Joining us for round 2, please welcome MALEVOLENCE into the series. Much love to The Acacia Strain, and thank you to them for being a part of this lineage. Check out their new forthcoming record as well!
Working with friends and peers and avoiding the pitfalls of competitiveness has always been the most rewarding part of being in a band, so as always thank you for the support and opportunity to have this platform. See you all on the road soon!” MALEVOLENCE’s Wilkie Robinson adds, “New Jersey to Australia to Sheffield! it was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this big international metal link-up and a great opportunity for us to have fun creatively outside of the usual expectations. Shout out to Eliran Kantor for killing the artwork and Nuclear Blast for making it all happen.”
Below is the tracklisting for The Aggression Sessions: 1. Hellions – FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY 2. Until There Is No Longer – THY ART IS MURDER 3. Waste Of Myself – MALEVOLENCE 4. I hit up Lorna Shore and asked if Will would be up for it, and he was on it straight away.”
With their critically acclaimed new studio album Malicious Intent,Malevolence have staked out their place as one of contemporary metal’s heavyweight acts. The rising UK stars are now out to conquer the world, having undertaken a huge run of major live dates this summer and into 2023, already blowing away audiences at the likes of Download Festival, Bloodstock Festival, Knotfest Germany and the Bring Me The Horizon Malta Weekender, not forgetting to mention a huge UK arena tour with Architects and Sleep Token, and mainland EU dates with Lamb Of God.
Malevolence will shortly be hitting the road in Australia with Thy Art Is Murder, Carnifex and I AM, followed by a lengthy UK/EU run with Trivium, Heaven Shall Burn and Obituary (EU only) later this year and into early 2023.

With their critically acclaimed new studio album Malicious Intent, MALEVOLENCE have staked out their place as one of contemporary metal’s heavyweight acts.
These rising UK stars are now out to conquer the world, undertaking a huge run of major live dates this summer and into 2023. After blowing away audiences at the likes of Download Festival UK, Knotfest Germany and the Bring Me The Horizon Malta Weekender, following on from a UK arena tour with Architects and Sleep Token, the British bruisers are pleased to announce more shows.
Malevolence have revealed two new headline shows this August, in Colchester (UK) and Paris (FR), before they launch into two German shows supporting Lamb Of God, followed by an Australian run in September with Thy Art Is Murder, Carnifex and I AM. The band will also be accompanying Trivium on their extensive EU tour leg, with Heaven Shall Burn and Obituary, following on from the UK shows.
To support these dates, the band have today released a brand new video to accompany album highlight ‘Higher Place’. Showing off their creative breadth, the single breaks with their usual aggressive metal swagger. ‘Higher Place’ is a show stopping, southern groove flavoured ballad.
Front-man Alex Taylor commented, “Higher Place focuses on a subject which everyone will deal with at some point in loss; death/bereavement. This is one most heartfelt songs we have written as a band, however once we began writing this song, it came together very naturally. This song is a huge step outside our comfort zone, we hope you enjoy it! The visuals for this song was our first venture into a narrative driven video, filmed in our hometown of Sheffield. We worked closely with Enon Films to bring the concept to life.”
Video Director Gabriel Fernández-Gil commented, “The song inspired sorrow, drama, and a dark epicness, which is what guided us in the making of this video. In the story you’ll be able to identify themes of loss, revenge, and UK’s knife-crime epidemic. As the lyrics and instrumentation, our characters “ascend” to different metaphorical planes of existence, or lack thereof.”
To accompany the video, the band have released an alternative acoustic version of ‘Higher Place’ digitally, giving fans yet another glimpse into Malevolence’s bottomless artistic flair.
With an impressive set of tour dates on the horizon alongside the record of their career, this is inevitably Malevolence’s time. Catch them live at the following show dates:
